I'm sharing my feedback in hopes this experience could be better for brides in the future. I live in Ann Arbor but came to Gina's (about an hour away) on the recommendation of some other brides. We hit some traffic and would be about ten minutes late so I called to let the store know. No problem. When we walked in, we were the only ones there, and they said "Hello, you must be Stefanie." I was surprised they got my name wrong considering I just called and the reservation was sitting on the counter in front of the woman. She also said "I guess that's what I get for not looking over all of the details..." Strike one. I was introduced to my stylist who told us to pretty much pick out dresses off the rack to try on. She asked a little bit about what my vision was in a dress, and off we went. What stood out to me was how poor the condition of the dresses were. At other bridal boutiques, I felt like a princess being able to be fitted into the gown before presenting it to my family. Here, you get into the dress yourself while the woman waits outside to "zip you up." I felt like some of the dresses were started to rip, lose their embellishment/beading, and were visibly dirty because of this. Strike 2. The whole experience just felt underwhelming and not special, pretty much at all, on what should have been my most special day. With nearly every dress I tried on, I was told that the in-house seamstress could do whatever I wanted to "make it work." Personally, I wanted a gown that I loved from that start, not one that I'd have to modify to make it perfect, but I appreciate the sentiment. The poor seamstress just seemed overworked, and I couldn't imagine myself coming back in for fittings with the service I experienced. read more

I was very surprised with the lack of any customer service at this place after I called the store to inquire about a particular dress collection. I was only a few minutes away from the store, and since they were closing in 15 minutes I was wondering if they would stay open for extra 10 more minutes for me. I was very surprised when they said no. Concidering this place is only open untill 5 pm, not exactly convinient hours for most of the customers, and I would of spend at least $400 plus for the dress, I decided I will shop and spend my money somewhere else. For the business owner, you own a small business, and if you want to be successful, you have to go above and beyond for your customers, which obwiously you don't know how. And after reading some of the rewevs about your business, I am glad you did not find extra 10 minuts for me. read more

When I first started planning my wedding (back in 2007), I was determined to do everything on a budget- have my mom help with flowers, make my own invites, and wear my cousin's dress. As anyone who has ever planned a wedding knows, this is easier said than done. We went to Gina's because I had found a bridesmaid dress online and planned to purchase them online. I saw that Gina's carried it, so we went in for a try-on session. First off, the place is adorable- not your usual bridal boutique. It feels casual and cool. They have enough dresses to provide a good selection, but not so many that you're overwhelmed. The staff is really helpful but not too pushy. Somehow I got talked in to trying on wedding dresses (by my bridesmaids, not the staff). At first it was a joke. I tried on short "Vegas" style wedding dresses, big puffy Cinderella ball gowns, and long sleeved lacy things I'd never dream of wearing. When I finally put on the strapless, satin, trumpet cut, blush colored Carmela Sutera gown and walked out of the dressing room, nobody was laughing. I felt like a beautiful (brunette, slightly larger and not quite well as endowed) barbie. The euphoria faded as soon as I saw the price tag: $3,500. For weeks after we left the store, I could not stop thinking about the dress. I began shopping around, trying to find something remotely like it, but nothing compared. One day, I became desperate. I emailed Gina, explained my dilemma, and begged her to sell me the sample off the rack at a discount. I told myself that if this didn't work, I would just have to let it go and wear my cousin's dress. When I got her reply about an hour later, I couldn't believe my eyes. Gina was willing to sell me the sample, at 30% off, and she would stay open late so I could come and get it that night. As cheesy as it sounds Gina seems to understand that her business isn't just about selling dresses, it's about making dreams come true. She seemed genuinely excited to help a sister out. To me, that's what makes a good business owner. I hope Gina's is around for a long, long time. read more

I purchased my two bridesmaids' dresses here for my November 2012 wedding. I was planning my wedding from out-of-state (I live in NYC but was getting married in Michigan), and Gina's was very accommodating. My mom made an appointment for my sisters (who were also my only two bridesmaids) and me to come in while I was home visiting for the holidays. Mom told them a little bit about my wedding colors and style preferences and they did a great job of setting aside some dresses that they thought I would like. My sisters both ended up ordering cute Bari Jay dresses (they didn't get the same dress, but similar ones in the same fabric). I also used Gina's in-house alterations lady (Paulita) for one bridesmaid's dress and for my gown (which was purchased elsewhere). She was very knowledgeable and did a great job with our dresses (and also with accommodating my weird fitting schedule that resulted from me being from out-of-town!). As far as prices go, I'd say it's pretty standard for the bridal industry...but the level of service was top-notch. read more

I was looking for someone to do some fine sewing on an antique,embroidered crib mobile; since it was a gift for an approaching shower, I wandered into Gina's to inquire. I expected a polite "we are quite too busy for such a task.." however, Gina herself invited me to a side room to get the details of what I required. I have seen the store many times but the are often closed when I leave work. Last Friday I stopped in and start chatting with the owner Gina. She was very welcoming and personable. As I started to look around I was greeted by Sydney who made me feel so comfortable right away. I got to look on all the racks and she got a sense of my style. Sydney offered to help me try on a few dresses that day but I was in a rush and couldn't. Once back in the main room Gina and Sydney helped me set an appointment for the next day. The next day I was running 10 mins behind and called to let them know they were very sweet and told me to simply drive safe. Once I arrived the fun began Sydney helped with questions I had. Once I had a few to chose from we hit the fitting room. Once I had a few tried on more associates brought ideas they thought would look good and everyone stood outside the fitting room and gave great criticism and feedback. This was my third store I had been to and hands down the best. I loved the quality and price of the dresses I tried on. I will return! read more

I waited sometime to write this review until my anger and frustration subsided. Man, I would NOT recommend this store to brides. After browsing when I saw a dress on the racks I was excited about, I was even more excited because the sample was for sale! After trying it on and being so excited I found the one, I noticed the sales lady was hiding the sample sale tag I saw and proceeded to tell me about the process of ordering the dress without ever presenting buying the sample as a option. I listened and then asked well what about this (pointing to the sample itself), I saw its for sale. She responded no no you don't want to do that, flustered that I had caught her in the hiding...she went on to explain that alterations will be so much that I should buy new. I tried to believe the best and that she was truly looking out for me. as a first time wedding dress shopper, I trusted her and went ahead with a new dress - mistake #1 My sweet mother encouraged me to do the alterations at the store, saying that out of respect for them helping you find this dress, I should give them my business - mistake #2 Came in months later for the first alteration fitting...the sales women I worked with and the alterer were super short and wouldn't make conversation with me or eye contact. Come to find out it was most likely because they knew the dress alterations were horrid. The straps wouldn't lay or stay on my arms and no joke couldn't lift my arms, it also was really uncomfortable. I tried to remain my composure thinking maybe I'm just over reacting. When my mom and I asked about the bulging parts by boobs they were both extremely rude and said we will give you some tape...seriously?! I wish I would've question their work more, but I never get things altered so I really was clueless and felt so taken advantage of...300 dollars later I took the dress to 2 different alteration stores to get second options... 1st store: said Gina's hacked this dress that he'd never seen anything like it and that the seams on the dress that are suppose to be under my armpits, were completely moved in front by the side of my boobs and that was why it was so uncomfortable and why I couldn't lift my arms. He concluded that instead of paying to fix it id be better off finding a new dress...my wedding was 4 weeks away!! I was so sad and frustrated I loved this dress 2nd store: said the same thing, that they'd never seen anything like it but that they could try their best to make this lay flat but the not being able to raise your arms they couldn't fix because Gina's took too much fabric Praise God the 2nd store for $100 was able to fix it as best they could ...$400 total in alterations please do not purchase or alter your dress here. I felt used and taken advantage of. this store caused so much unnecessary stress. At first, I was very happy with Gina's. The store was adorable, the staff was friendly and the dresses were very pretty (however not a large selection, they had a good assortment). My eight bridesmaids and I spent a good hour there trying on dresses and we decided on two different styles. I was told that we would have until November to get their measurements and payments in, as my wedding is not until next May. I got all the contact information and my sister paid a partial payment, and we were on our way. It was easy, and fun and a wonderful experience. About 3 weeks later I get an EMAIL stating that the line we had just decided on was going to be discontinued and we had "within the month" to order all the gowns, or a refund would be issued and we could find new dresses. I called the store to speak to someone on this, and I got the guy who does the tuxedos. I asked him what exactly what was going on and how long "within the month" meant (30 days from email, the end of the month, next month, etc). He laughed and said "well I think it seems pretty clear". No, actually, that's very vague and I need a deadline to tell my 8 women that are buying $225 dresses from you, that they were expecting to pay for in November. He said he had no idea, and would tell Gina to contact me. I never got a call back. I then called and spoke with the other woman in the store, and she said that they weren't for sure going to stop selling the line, but there had been some issues and they weren't comfortable saying they will be ordering past this season. She said they were waiting to hear back from the designer on a few issues, and if they got any answers she would let me know. She told me that there was no hard deadline to order the gowns, and that she would touch base with me in a month to discuss again if they heard back or if nothing changed. Great. I was more comfortable with that...if we had more time then maybe it would work. Maybe they would get some answers... My sister sent in more money for her and my nieces dresses, she also called them and told them she was doing so, to assure she could get a refund if we decided to not get the line we picked out-and reiterated that I had not received a phone call regarding the status. The woman apologized and said she had no idea I was expecting a call and she would contact me to discuss everything. Then, I got no call. Not a word. I decided to go to another shop near my house to see how their line looked, as I clearly was not a priority. Within an hour, I found new dresses and at a better price with better staff. My sister called to get a refund on her dress, and explained that it was due to the fact that no one ever called me. The woman said "well, someone spoke to her because we got a payment!".... to which my sister replied "yeah, that was me, no one contacted the bride once".... Then the woman said "oh yeah, I was supposed to call her but I just got very busy." I have never felt like I was less of an important customer EVER. I am glad I didn't risk such a special occasion on such a flighty operation. We can spend that $2000+ somewhere else, somewhere that answers questions and feels like they actually have a duty to keep their customers happy. I would not suggest this place to anyone, and it's truly disappointing because the initial visit there was truly wonderful. read more

This review was difficult to write- I spent a lot of time thinking of whether I should or not and the bottom line was that I would rather save someone the headache that I dealt with than worry about hurt feelings. Gina's was lovely at first. The staff was kind, attentive and I went with my Mom and Grandma and walked out having ordered a gorgeous gown. They have a spectacular selection, very unique dresses to suit any budget. I received a call months later that my dress was in, went in, tried it on and left. Called within a week to make an appointment for alterations. My alterations weren't difficult- I ordered the size that fit and needed a hem, a bustle and a little taken in around the bust. Paulita is their seamstress and I was told so many times how much they love her and what a "wonderful job she does." She left me a nasty voice mail telling me that she couldn't alter my dress and I was TOLD that she needed at LEAST 3-4 months if I had wanted my dress altered. To note, I was never told any of that and the dress had been in the shop for less than a week. At this point my wedding was still over two months away. I called the shop and spoke with the owner, and then waited nearly a week without a phone call back from either her or Paulita. At this point I called again and was told that I would be better off finding someone else to do my alterations, my consolation prize was a number and a name of someone else. I am of the belief that if someone comes into your shop and spends that much money on a dress they should be taken care of start to finish. Instead I had to schedule with someone 30 minutes from my house, whom I had never met, have no reviews of and trust that she will take care of me. Staff at Gina's had made it seem as though they were on the outs with Paulita. They expressed that she had been difficult lately, etc. However when I went to my new fitting at a different shop they told me that Gina's had just built Paulita a room to work in. Interesting... If they have cut ties with her and found someone else to do alterations (or if you don't mind taking your dress elsewhere) then I would still consider recommending Gina's to someone looking for a dress as they have a beautiful selection. However, if your only option for alterations is a woman who is rude and unable to help you, you may as well search elsewhere for someone who can provide an entire experience without giving you additional trouble. As a sidenote I am not a bridezilla. I am one of the most laid back, easy going people as far as my small wedding is concerned but this was nonsense. My hopes in writing such a long review are to spare someone extra trouble and encourage them to seek a dress elsewhere. read more

I understand that bridesmaids dresses need to be altered naturally, yet I was amazed that they were VERY off in sizing. The cost of drastic alterations was near the price of a new dress.. There were some hiccups with the alterations, but Gina made sure everything was rectified, so I really still can't say enough nice things about the store. Gina is the sweetest, and her consultants are great too! I didn't feel pressured at all trying on dresses for the first time, and everyone was so patient and nice. Even years after my wedding, I walked into the new location, and Gina greeted me with a hug and actually remembered things about me. My sister purchased a dress from Gina's and had a great experience, so when it came time for my big day, I also bought a dress at Gina's. I wanted a shorter dress, so I can cut a rug at my wedding- Instead of limiting me to the short styles, Gina and her staff brought me long dresses that would look great cut shorter. I found a beautiful Anjolique (2151) and it is being tailored by Gina's in-house alterations staff (a little pricey- but I feel good about her skill level. I am hacking a few feet off- so I am willing to pay.) It's too soon to say how the alterations look, but so far I am beyond thrilled. We love you Gina!- The Hargrove Twins:) read more

Like past reviews have stated......They don't call you. You have to keep calling (don't trust when they state you will receive a call). My experience followed others, in that it was a nice place and they are courteous, but ended bad (good front, bad exit). They attempted to up charge me at the end. When I fought the up charge, I was smacked upside the back of the head on my way out (owner insisted it was a "tap") in front of my kids non the less!!!. I was told by Gina that she has had many physical attacks and shrugged it off. Makes me wonder how many brides they crossed. Moreover, they will deny any wrong doing if anything is wrong. Everything is done by a third party vendor, so they will fall back on pointing the finger at the seamstress. Something to consider. read more

The amount of wonderful that comes with visiting Gina's cannot be expressed. I had gone to two different bridal shops before and a friend recommended Gina's to me. As mentioned in other posts, the amount of dresses isn't as vast as some other stores, but that is also a good thing. The gowns at Gina's all have something different; at other stores, most dresses looked so similar to me. We ended up cancelling an appointment at another bridal salon to visit Gina's again the next day and ended up purchasing my dress. Jillian, Sydney, Cinnamon, the seamstress, and the owner Gina were all so helpful, not pushy at all, and made each person (including my family there to help) feel comfortable; they're a great value too! I went to this store because it was a small business. I had several issues with alterations. Was charged A LOT for something that could have been fixed the first time. Had problems with almost ALL of the groomsmen suits. Wasn't told that they dont do bridesmaids alterations until we had already purchased the dresses. THEN almost ALL of the groomsmen got accute dermatitis from the suits. Cute shop. Don't reccomend. read more

Terrible customer service from Tony! I purchased my wedding dress there several years ago and was very happy with the selection and service. My son rented his senior prom tuxedo from GIna's and was pleased with the selection and service, however... returning the tux is another story. The day of prom my son split his pants in 2 places while putting on his shoes. One tear was in the seam of the crotch and the other was a hole in the fabric that tore away from the zipper (not a seam) it was a gaping hole. Luckily we found a pair of my husband's suit pants that worked. I called the shop on the way to pictures to advise them so they didn't think this happened at prom or that it was caused by recklessness. I returned the tuxedo today and was offered $20 off a total of $150. I said that I thought I should receive half off since he only wore half the tux. Tony's response was, " I could charge you for damages". I expressed I wasn't happy with that response as my son merely bent over to put his shoes on and the pants split. Tony said that he could've worn the pants as his jacket would've covered the hole. I told him the hole was gaping open it looked awful and was quite obvious. Besides, who would wear pants with a hole in the crotch. Would you Tony? This is the poorest example of customer service I have received in quite some time. Never was there an apology as I'm sure that would've implied some accountability on their end. Accidents happen and business should stand behind their merchandise to assure what was paid for was used for that purpose. In this case, the pants were useless. It was the day of prom so they couldn't have provided another pair but a reimbursement for unused merchandise is a reasonable request. I will not be a patron of this shop any longer, nor will I recommend it to anyone. read more

The dress shopping day didn't start out great. My mom, two older sisters, and I (yes, lots of opinions) started the day at a "big box" bridal store and while the gowns were alright, the saleswoman was pushy and I could not shake the idea of hundreds of other girls with the same exact dress and experience. Next we headed to a boutique shop where the saleswoman told me I would HAVE to wear an A-line gown and that maybe my sister should try the dresses on since she was more the shape of the sample dresses. While I sat in the car and cried, we called Gina's. Gina told us to come by, that they had dresses in lots of sizes. Thank God I didn't give up! From the minute we walked in, I knew I wanted to buy my dress from Gina- acutally I even wanted to buy my bridesmaid gowns from her too, even if it was a bit of a drive! She made me feel excited again, after a really rough morning of shopping. I was a bride, even if I wasn't a size 2 bride, and I deserved to look gorgeous too. Gina had all types of dresses for the "medium sized" bride to try on. I wasn't swimming in plus-sized dresses or asking my sister to try on smaller sizes. It wasn't just the samples though. Gina makes you feel like part of the family. The shop is gorgeous, but the atmosphere the ladies that work there have created is overwhelmingly beautiful. When I think back on wedding memories, one of my favorites will always be opening those big glass doors, taking off our winter boots to walk on gorgeous wood floors, and laughing and smiling with my family as we went though ALL the dresses Gina puts out on display for everyone to touch and see themselves.
