Johnny's Bagels & Deli was moderately busy on a Saturday morning. The interior was exactly what you'd expect from an east coast deli - lots of signage on the walls, wrapped pastries on the counter, etc. They had indoor seating, but also outdoor tables both in the sun and shade. I ordered a Vanilla Almond Iced Coffee and an Everything Bagel with Lox, Cream Cheese, Tomato and Onion. Service was friendly, but not the quickest. My bagel was tasty, but unfortunately proximity to New York does not ensure New York quality. It was on the smaller side and not too different than the bagels I find in California. We went here 2 days in a row. Both around lunch time. The place was very busy but there still were plenty of seats. They have a little bit of everything: bagels, sandwiches, omelets, soup, fries, pastries, and more. I just got a bagel both times. It was on the smaller side but was reasonably priced. He got a sandwich the first time which came with chips and a pickle. That was a bit pricey but it was good. The second time he got a bagel. read more

Bomb bagels!!! I love Jonny's bagels I've been coming here since I was a kid. Brought my friend for her first time and her smile says it all. She got a bacon, egg, and cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel. Talk about a flavor combo! I got a breakfast burrito loaded with veggies, eggs, and sausage. It was huge! Had so save half for lunch. Staff is rude. From the looks of the place it may have been good 40 years ago. The bagel was stale and tasted like it was a few days old. Their coffee machine was broken so all they had was drip. Which was probably a good thing. The Cappuccino machine looked like one from the gas station. When I asked if they knew of any other places that sold coffee on Main Street she just said no and walked away. So she knows of no other place in downtown where she has worked for forever. Ok. I ended up getting the drip. It tasted like it was from before thanksgiving. If you are looking for great coffee and wonderful service do yourself a favor and walk one block up to Bitty & Beau's. They have been here since 2016 there is no way she didn't know about it. It is on the same side of the street one block up. The staff is so friendly and it is a real coffee house not just a gas station machine. Not only is the staff super friendly at Bitty and Beau's and their coffee phenomenal but they are doing good for the world. read more

Went three times because it's near my house. The food is good and the prices are good. Service is fast but customer service has been consistently poor. The first time I ordered something on their menu and they seemed confused and gave me something else. They rushed me through at all points so it didn't seem worth it to bring it up to them. The guy also had a pretty thick accent so thought it was just a misunderstanding. Second time was pretty chaotic, they just demanded an order from every customer as soon as they walked in. This is normal enough for a busy deli. But they seem annoyed when customers look at and order from their giant menu. Other customers also seemed confused about where to order and where to stand. Last time I tried to order, my wife asked me a simple question and the cashier/cook interrupted me while I was trying to answer. We were the only two people in there so no need to rush us. Pointlessly rude. I'd rather go somewhere where I don't feel rushed and like I'm annoying the staff. Most other things about this place are fine though. read more

My wife and I love trolling around Bethlehem and had a hankering for a bagel. The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the service and attention to customers is refreshing. I had a Bagel Sandwich - the bacon was crisp and the cheese was perfectly melted. My wife had an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese and really enjoyed it. We sat outside Erie w but and then came inside to check out the decor, which was intimate with a piano and a lounge area with a couch and comfy chairs. I stopped here for a late breakfast/ early Lunch. My first time here, and I got a cheese Omelet. I was surprised that this came with potatoes. I was ready to take a star away for the price until I saw this addition. I'm even more surprised that I ate my potatoes with onions and peppers. I usually have my potatoes plain, but I could barely tell that they were in there. You can eat in or take out, and the eat-in location is nice and clean. A bit crowded in the front counter near the cashier, but I'm ok with this, as it didn't take away from my overall experience. I'd recommend this place. read more

I didn't have any bagels, but I did have one of their sweets, which was exactly what I had been looking for (included a photo of a dessert with jelly in the middle), as well as a latte with Almond milk (they offer alternatives to regular dairy milk), and they were both wonderful! There's a lounge area towards the front with couches as well as table seating for those looking to eat in. Everyone there was very wecloming. I'm use to coffee shops and deli's looking to kick customers out after a certain time, but they didn't mind me there at all working on photoshop. They'd explained that students during the school year like to hangout and study there, which I can see why. It's super cozy, totally chill, and a lot of items to choose from on their menu. So at first glance this bagel and deli seemed like a standard bagel and deli shop and it wasn't our first pick. We had actually been craving the flying egg that is across the street from this shop but they had a 30 min wait. We were expecting to get some breakfast and be on our merry way, and when we heard the salsa music we figured not bad we might be in store for a decent breakfast. I guess it's true that it's your own race that does you wrong. We were received with subpar hospitality and coming from the hospitality industry, I have a standard scale for customer service and care. We were upcharged for our order and mistreated through our ordering process. We paid for our order with cash, and then he told us he forgot to charge us for something else. Which wouldn't have been a big issue if he hadn't not been so rude to us. We didn't even get a standard "You're Welcome after we both thanked him for taking our order. We sat down and waited for our food and noticed that the treatment changed with all of the other customers. His demeanor changed and he used the politeness that was obviously misplaced when we order. So that's the hospitality side. Now to the food!! The food was decent, everything was cooked in a timely fashion and the condiments are available there and up for grabs, however the home fries were undercooked which is weird cause if your going to charge for it and be extra about it, you could at least make sure they are properly cooked. Either way, the food was decent nothing to rave about. All In all this place gets a 2. I would be petty and go lower, but I understand mom and pop businesses and I'm not trying to ruin it with a bad review, just voicing what I received as a first time customer, who will gladly not be back. Woman behind the counter was not wearing a mask at all. I asked her to put a mask on, and she gave me massive attitude. The guy who was making the food said rudely, "I'm wearing a mask." Guess what? EVERYONE should be wearing one, ESPECIALLY if you are the one taking customer money. What's worse is, I called a couple weeks ago and talked to Johnny himself and asked if his staff was wearing masks, and he assured me they were. Obviously not, and I'll never be back. If she would have apologized and put a mask on, maybe it would have been okay. But the fact that she acted put out and gave me attitude, then STILL didn't put a mask on? No thank you. Having lived on the west coast for six years, I missed good bagels. But when we moved here, I was so happy to find that Johnny's has them! The bagels are made the right way, and are perfectly chewy and doughy. You can get all kinds of toppings on them, from a range of cream cheeses to breakfast sandwiches to deli-style sandwiches. We've only been here for breakfast but have been happy with our order every time. I also love that Johnny's does a lot of work in the community, sponsoring and supporting local events and organizations. They're a great neighbor to have in downtown Bethlehem. I only have three critiques: the first is that they get disorganized when they're busy-- like dramatically so. Last time we were there and it was nearly full, we had to order three or four separate times and it wasn't clear when our food came out. The second critique is that sometimes the restaurant smells strange, so we don't often eat inside. And finally-- they have lox but it's incredibly expensive! I wish it was a more affordable menu option-- what is a bagel and shmear without lox?? But the folks who work here are really friendly, and the food we have is always really good. It's a real east coast bagel place, and our definite morning go-to, especially since it's open on Sundays! read more

Wandered into Johnnys because of a menu posted on window and they had a few outside tables. It was a nice day and we had the dog, so outside seemed like a good choice. Went inside to order and asked for three sandwiches but they could only do one because they were out of some key lunch meats at 1:30pm. No salami, no mortadella, no pepperoni, no spicy turkey. So we ordered around the 86ed items and the sandwiches were excellent. Much better than expected. A worker invited us inside with the dog and they seemed dog friendly. Quirky place, to be sure, but delicious if you'll eat what they have in stock and don't rely on the menu. read more

Whenever my family and I bike from Easton to Bethlehem on the nearby bike path, we always stop at johnny's. Their bagels are perfect. Just the right amount of chewiness, and packed with flavor. They have tons of different flavors of cream cheese, and a pretty extensive menu with hot and cold sandwiches that you can get on bagels, or regular bread. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. I got the herby turkey sandwich, which came with pita chips which were really good--they had some kind of seasoning on them. The sandwich was fantastic, and I got in on a delicious sesame seed bagel. My only complaint (and this is honestly so minor) is that if you order just a bagel with cream cheese, they serve it to you in this small little carton thing. My mom wanted to take the bagel apart to take out some of the cream cheese, and had a difficult time doing this bc she didn't have any room to put the bagel halves. She could have easily asked for a plate tho, so no biggie. Great food, laid back atmosphere, and quick service. We loved it! read more

There are also the reject bagels which may be burnt slightly or misshapened ones. 6 bagel bunch for $1.99 bag (sometimes mixed and other times same) I also had the traditional Devon sandwich with focaccia bread. In a quiet Pennsylvania community lies a beautiful deli called "Johnny's Bagels & Deli." Its on Main Street and was definitely worth a visit. Lucky for us it was New Years so curbside parking was free. Walking into the deli made me feel like I was in a episode of Friends. It had comfortable sofa's and couches for sitting as well as tables and chairs though out the deli. It was packed with bagels and breads and had plenty of customers buying them up. When it was time to order the staff was very friendly and courteous. One of the older employees was upset because it was her day off. I felt sorry for her but she was still in good spirits. When I asked to eat in they served the meals on glass plates instead of paper. The food came out hot and they got everything correct. I only wish they added more cheese to my scrambled eggs, but I'm sadly getting use to less. The mushrooms they used were fresh and delicious. The buttered my wheat toast very light, the way I like it, and they had a ton of bacon in my meal. I definitely think it's worth going back. It's not a New York breakfast, but it was just as good. (South Bethlehem) If you are a bagel snob from NYC I guess you won't like it. That aside, Johnny's always provides a good meal, albeit you need to know what to order. The wraps are typically a bad value for how much food you're getting. The prices are a little high even for things such as breakfast sandwiches (compared to The Goosey Gander, for example), but the meals are always cooked quickly and the employees are adept at dealing with large crowds. Last year's renovations really improved the order flow and general look of the place. My only complaint is that the potatoes served with omelettes are almost never fresh (you can watch them pour them out of some metal container onto the griddle). Aside from that, orders are prepared quickly and, don't be shocked, but, sometimes they'll mess your order up! It really isn't the end of the world. Johnny's is exactly what it should be. read more
