I visited this site on Memorial Day near closing time. A worker was mopping the floor as I entered and went to the counter to help me. He set the mop aside and reached for gloves. When I questioned why he didn't wash his hands first he replied "I'm putting gloves on". Why do food servers think putting gloves on unwashed hands is acceptable? IT IS NOT! That contaminated hand is still touching the clean glove. When I asked the worker if he was aware of food service education, he insisted washing hands before putting on gloves was not required. He did wash his hands while objecting. Hmm, I suppose some people have no sense of personal hygiene especially while handling other's food. What happens when the workers go to the bathroom? I shudder to imagine! The other worker who was handling money offered to help me. Again with unwashed hands. I hope the owner will correct and educate these workers. Purell should only be an option in the complete absence of soap and water. read more

Me and my brother were in the area figured we'd give it a try place was empty said he was going to close up. This was around 5 o'clock and we could get something to take out. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak my brother got the Reuben sandwich I'm allergic to Mushrooms and I told him not to put any on just onions and peppers and sauce. It's a good thing I checked the sandwich when I got to my brothers place because sure enough there were mushrooms on it if I would've ate that I could've went into anaphylactic shock and ended up in the hospital or even worse could've died my brother had a Ruben sandwich he couldn't even take one bite of it. There was something very bitter and bad on the sandwich so he had to throw it away, the price for this horrible food was $29 with tax and there are a ton other places that we could've ate at for that price. I hope the owner sees this because I definitely want a full refund for the food. read more

This place is an absolute joke. My partner went in for two bagels with hummus and they actually tried to charge him $14.00. When he asked if they were being serious they dropped it to twelve. How gracious of them. I see people get bacon, egg, and cheese bagels for very cheap. Unless you make that tahini from scratch (which you don't) and grow your own chickpeas (once again, you don't) it's inexcusable to jack up the price so high for such a simple product. I was so excited when Johnny's Bagels of Main St, Bethlehem announced they were opening on Lehigh Campus. Johnny's has delicious bagels - HUGE and chewy on the outside, soft on the inside. The bagels are still delicious and smothered in cream cheese. However, the establishment seems to have missed the mark in living up to their original location. The service is lousy, slow even when there's no one else waiting. I usually only order bagels, as the sandwiches are sub-par and pretty pricey. However, they're still my go-to place for a bag of bagels to take home. There is a lot of seating, which is a plus. Bottle drinks, (pretty average) coffee, and tea are available. This is the kind of place I stop in if I'm in the area and starving, but very rarely do I go out of my way. read more

Quite frankly, this place is the Anti-Goose. Unfriendly service, disgusting interior, and overall poor quality of food. Only once was I ever so lazy that I decided to go here instead of Goose. I ordered the Italian omelette, and waited for 10 minutes, only to discover upon receiving it that they made the wrong omelette. I told the cashier about it, and I was met with an "Eh, it's Italian enough." Funny, but not a compelling reason to return to this joke of a deli. The only advantage it has over the Goose is that it's closer to the dorms, as it's in the heart of Lehigh's Farrington square (which is, quite frankly, the only reason I think it's still around). Even then, the Goose is only about a block away, so if you're going to go "off-campus" to eat, I recommend just walking the extra block and skipping this place. read more

I have to agree with the previous reviews. I do enjoy the bagels but hate the service. If you ordering one sandwich they can manage but if you order anything over 2 and on different bagels, then prepare to have your order wrong. Maybe they expect that since it's on a college campus they can get away with bad service. When I questioned the order that I made, the man working started to argue with me about what i ordered....Maybe if you wrote down my order, 3 of the 6 bagel sandwiches wouldn't have been wrong. 6 sandwiches and 6 drinks...$35 later It's a shame that Johnny's has monopolized the Bethlehem bagel scene read more

The food is good--fresh bagels and ingredients--but everything else is a little lackluster. I don't crave to go back. You can't go wrong with a bagel sandwich. They're all pretty good. I've had the falafel wrap before and it was pretty good. It kept falling apart, and I've had better anyway. The baked goods here always look really yummy. Like others are saying, the service isn't good. The chefs are usually in the back prepping and don't come out until you've been standing there for a few minutes. They're also not very personable. The venue is dark and usually deserted. I think a lot of students get their food to go and eat it outside on the square. That's probably a good choice. read more

Seems this place still just keeps missing the mark. Recently came back again with co-workers and the sandwich I ordered (Jenna's Funky Chicken) just lacked any amount of flavor. That, and there method for handling customers (taking orders, paying, etc.) is a little disorganized and doesn't have a good flow during rush hours. I technically have leftovers from here but seeing that they've sat in the fridge for 5 days now, I'm obviously in no rush to eat them. There's a reason why I haven't frequented the place much at all in the past two years despite working on campus. read more

I don't want to give this place a bad review but this is by far the worst location. I've been to all three multiple times and you wouldn't even know they were the same except for the menu. At this location, they've messed up my order several times forgetting ingredients in the sandwich. I can't tell until I've rushed off to class. The person at the counter gives me attitude when I asked about the prices of the baked goods. Never coming back here again. Now I know why there's never a line here. read more

Had a Reuben one time-- was the smallest sandwich I ever had!! Two pieces of meat, a little sauerkraut and chesse for $6! A TOTAL RIPOFF!, they should be ashamed of themselves selling such a thing! read more

I love the bagels here - unfortunately, the service stinks. You usually have to flag someone down after you've waited a bit and remind them of what you're waiting for, which is annoying. The french fries are pretty good, too. There's lots of seating and I definitely cured a hangover or two here during college. read more

Johnny's has the best bagels around and there breakfast sandwiches are good too. The chefs have been nothing but nice to me. One time one of the workers even gave me a free bagel to try. Also, this spot is a favorite of college students. read more

Johnny's has gone down hill in the last year or so and the complete turnover of staff has not worked in their favor. The previous chefs were a little cheeky but always friendly and did their best to keep things running smoothly, the people working the counter kept things organized, and if you were a regular they often remembered your order. The bagels were fresh and tasty, the salads pretty decent, and the specials usually worth checking out. Sometimes when they were really busy things could get a little messed up, but they were polite about remedying any mistakes. Now? the prices have increased, the few staff they have working summer always joke about the price so you never what you are paying unless you check the receipt, the service has gone way down, and there only seems to be one guy working. charging $2.60 for a 20oz bottle of soda when the Starbucks on the other side of Campus Square sells the same for $1.80? Being told a $2 bagel would cost me $5? I thought this was a joke since I had headphones on, but after the second time, no brainer; I just said no thanks and walked out. The food quality is not as it used to be since the chefs changed, and the service is not worth much, but maybe it will pick up once the students come back and start complaining. Regardless, going to take my business somewhere else. read more

Delicious bagels and sandwiches from this deceptively large shop on Lehigh's campus. The bagels are always fresh made and fluffy. The sandwiches are amazing. The Miami beach is swimming in Russian dressing with tasty cheese and corned beef. Perfect for a quick stop near campus. read more

Literally the worst bagels I've ever had. They are chewy and disgusting. I still go occasionally because of convenience and am disappointed every single time. I recently tried their croissants because their bagels are trash. It was going /okay/ (very greasy, avocado was extremely brown, but tasted fine) until I found a chunk of jalapeno in my sandwich. Now my mouth is on fire, 6 dollars broker, I'm still hungry, and my stomach hurts from the brown avocado. I will not be going back for convenience sake. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. read more
