    Sausage, egg and cheese
    Ade B.

Johnny's Hots are known for their hot sausages. You can get a variety of hot sausage sandwiches. On one of my morning walks to Penn Treaty Park I decided to stop by and see for myself if the sausages lived up to the hype. I ordered a Sausage, egg & cheese. It comes on like a hoagie roll. I also saw a tasty looking apple danish and grabbed that too. I sat in the park to eat my meal. I am happy to report that the sausage lived up to the hype. It is just the right amount of hot, not overpowering. And It's very juicy. The sandwich was made with the perfect ratio of sausage to egg to cheese. I devoured it! It was soo good! The roll was slightly chewy, which makes me think it wasn't the freshest. The apple danish was a tasty treat I'm glad that I ordered to end my meal with. The big negative to Johnny's Hots is that it's a cash only business. That's ridiculous in 2022. You lose far more business than you save in fees when u don't accept credit cards. I rarely carry cash, so I can rarely stop here for those mouth watering sausages. Such a shame.

Ordered an egg and cheese and received this? How can any employee make that and serve it to a customer? I'm basically eating an empty bread roll. Second time getting breakfast here and have been disappointed both times. I'm all about supporting small businesses but that's insane to serve to someone

    Hot sausage with pepper hash

Absolutely the best sandwiches in Philly! Johnny's has been around a long time. It's a fave spot of truck drivers, laborers, union workers and business people. The hot sausage is the best according to my husband. ( I don't eat hot sausage) He loves the hot sausage, egg and cheese. My son eats hot sausage with pepper hash. I love the fish cake sandwich with pepper hash! The fish cake has a soft filling and is deep fried to a nice crunchy exterior. It is delicious! What is pepper hash you ask? Well it's a Philly thing! It's chopped peppers, onions in a light vinegar sauce similar to cole slaw but without mayo. It gives the sandwich that little extra kick. Johnnys also does an award winning cheese steak, hot dogs and some other things. They have fountain sodas and tastykakes too.

Went to Penn treaty park and found this lil stand across the street. While breakfast had just ended, I figured a few lunch items would hold me over. Asked about making a buffalo chicken cheesesteak, and they said while they didn't have blue cheese, they would use sauce, cheese, and ranch to make it. Also tried the meatball sandwich with parm and long hots. The buffalo chicken hit the spot perfectly. The meatball park was cheesy and saucy, with good quality bread on both. Cash only, and you have to pay for most toppings, but it's a good option for the park if you need a quick bite. Average price for everything otherwise

Tasty roll, good dog, delicious kraut. I remember it was cash only at the time.

Classic Philly spot on the waterfront

Johnny's Hots is a classic Philly tradition. It opens at 4:30 am and serves up its sandwiches and other treats until the early afternoon. It's location on the Philadelphia waterfront across from Penn Treaty Park in Fishtown means there are always people driving by - including late night revelers who can take advantage of its middle-of-the-night opening hour. Johnny's Hots is takeout only so the pandemic has not affected it at all. And what to order here? .... well everything is quite good. But of course you have to go with their famous hot sausage. It reminds me of an Austrian wurst. Add some Pennsylvania pepper hash and long hots and you have one very tasty sandwich that shouldn't be missed if you are living in Philly. I also usually get a Philadelphia fish cake sandwich - not because they are my favorites - but because they are hard to find elsewhere and I want to support traditional Philly foods. Everyone has prob been to Johnny's Hots at one time or another. But if you haven't been. what are you waiting for?

I visited for lunch during Restaurant Week, which I enjoyed because of its close proximity to the corporate hub in Center City where I work and for its solid menu. I was seated quickly at a high-top for my noon reservation. The restaurant is much larger inside than it looks, split in half with the left providing an upscale bar aesthetic while the right presents a quieter, modern lounge feel. (It seemed like service staff was directing those with previously-booked OpenTable RSVPs to the lounge side.) Service was great, as my waitress continuously checked in during my meal even as more customers arrived throughout the lunch period. I appreciated being offered to add fries on my burger order, as Village Whiskey didn't have it automatically added on the RW menu. The only drawback was she forgot to ask how I wanted my burger cooked, but it came out medium rare which is the way I eat it regardless. I trust that's how they default, which is a good sign. The Food Breakdown: Deviled Eggs (4/5) - Classic, solid, and a good starter. I honestly selected it since the other appetizer options didn't really appeal to me, but nothing spectacular or negative about it. Four comes with each order. All-American Burger (5/5) - Fantastic. I'm not a pickle enjoyer, but the acidity just blended into each juicy bite. The jam had a slight kick, and you can taste the fattiness within the double Wagyu smash patties. High-quality all around and a solid portion size. Duck Fat Fries (4/5) - They were well-seasoned, and each order comes with a small side of ketchup. Granted I didn't ask, but I almost wish they offered a spicy mayo instead because it would complement the crunchiness better. Overall, the food quality and taste were superb. My only caveat was the price, knowing that $35 after tax and gratuity for lunch (without an additional drink) is costly. I wouldn't be able to come everyday, but it certainly has my vote for sharing with others the destination that has an immaculate burger.

OOOK, here we go: Hot chicken slider( you only get 1 folks) very good and had the right amount of toppings 5/5 Pulled pork slider: Very flavorful, juicy, and tender: 5/5 Caesar salad: 5/5 Deviled eggs. The pickled red onions really elevated this dish. 5/5 The grilled salmon had a great char and crunch. It was not dry nor over cooked. 5/5 The burger was delicious just as a burger should be and the famous duck fat fries were very crunchy. 5/5 for both Happy hour is really the time to go, but make sure they honor your reservation. On a whim, I called Butcher Bar and told them I know it's last minute on a Saturday night, but could they accommodate 9 people. They overheard us talking about how The Trough would be nice (feeds 8 for $300, but was more than enough for us 9), and said if we wanted that they could get it started as the table was prepared. We said yes, and were sat a few minutes later with drinks in hand. Jenna (Gema? She had grape earrings) was a fantastic server and just so kind and attentive. She kept the drinks flowing and The Trough arrived sooner than I expected and was everything I wanted for dinner and more.
