With the beautiful weather and easy parking, the setting was perfect for a great time. But found out that it wasn't worth the 50 minute drive by itself, though there are plenty of places to visit on the north shore around that area...still worth the trip. We arrived a bit earlier than the 09:00 start time, so parked near the Hanalei Pier, and walked across the sand of the beach to enjoy the morning before arriving at the market. The market was fairly hopping by 09:30, with 30 different stalls selling their wares. My goal was to find two things to munch on first, as we walked the market: some sliced white pineapple and malasadas. It's clear that for food items, the market does an effective job of making sure a type of a food item is sold by only one vendor at the market...it really inflates the price. White pineapple is a lot less hardier for transport, thus hard to find on the mainland...but definitely a far superior pineapple in terms of sweetness and juiciness. The vendor that sold it here, presented it in slivers inside the typical cored pineapple container. I saw it right away, but noticed that there was no price....it ended up being $20 (I was committed at that point), which is pretty steep for maybe 1/4 of a pineapple. I found the malasada vendor, making it fresh on-site. We only wanted to taste, so got one for $3 non-filled...and it was disappointing...just OK. Should have tasted a lot better considering where we were. We circled the market multiple times, and ended up staying for about an hour. It's a market geared towards tourists like me, not locals: you are not going to find a local restauranteur looking for produce for his/her dinner menu here. Speaking of being a tourist: did end up buying a nice print of nearby Anini beach that we will frame at our home to remind us of Kauai...the artist was super grateful. The picture itself gave me a mission to find that view at Anini (as we were heading there next).

We bought, for instance, one of the best mangos I've ever eaten, with a unique sort of pineappley taste; they cut it open for us in the shop and my whole family fought over the flesh, prompting us to go back and buy several more. They also have a great array of other ... stuff, ranging from a seed exchange to some alluring crafted wood goods. I fell in love with the beautiful heft of a tewhatewha and decided I couldn't leave the island without it. I realize that last bit may be burying the lede, but "come for the vanilla beans, and while you're here, buy a kiawe axe" is really an amazing business model and I encourage you to check it out.

It was our first time…read moreattending this market and we found parking in the beach parking lot on Niu street - it was hard to find the lot at first. Suggest arriving about half hour before it starts to get parking. We bought some avocados, apple banana and papaya. Mostly fresh fruit/veggie stands with some baked goods/treats. Would recommend if you find yourself in Kapaa town on a Wednesday. Vendors were very nice and hospitable.

Would add that it's not the easiest set up for those with accessibility challenges to navigate because all stalls are largely situated on a big patch of grass. Could definitely feel the island vibes with music playing from some stalls, and locals catching up with the farmers and vendors while selecting their produce for the week. Prices are comparable to those at the grocery stores. Would definitely recommend checking out when around the area.

We also buy pineapple there, you will never enjoy pineapple like you do in Hawaii. It's the best! Unfortunately Hawaii is having a pineapple shortage right now due to lower temps earlier this year in 2025. Bummer! There are lots of other shops in the complex with friendly owners and unique souvenirs and gifts for those back home. Absolutely love shopping here towards the end of our stay on Kauai. One can easily tell that the farm is very near and dear to the family. We loved being able to spend time with the goats, feeding them treats and watching them enjoy the pasture. Our favorite part was tasting the fresh cheeses , pesto and fresh cut / squeezed fruit. We would highly recommend the farm tour for all age groups and folks interested on how a goat farm runs.

Grab your own cheesecake in the fridge, then pay by cash, Venmo, etc. There's QR codes and instructions all over you CANT miss it, which means PAY up. The cheesecake is soooo worth the buy! It was moist, sweet, and just YUMMY! Better than any other Lilikoi poi cheesecake I've tasted. I can't wait to grab me some again when we come back to visit.
