It wasn't that big and parking was not a problem since they have regular parking for the strip mall. Walking through the aisles and looking at the different people that brought their produce to sell was very fun. I started seeing a different kind of pineapple. These pineapples are white and inside and you can eat the entire pineapple. The core is soft and not hard and it is edible. The prices for these are a lot more than a regular pineapples. I noticed that it was different prices for different sizes of pineapple. They were selling them for 16 and $20 per pineapple. My wife thought that she saw these pineapples at Costco so we waited and didn't buy one. To find out that Costco doesn't sell these and the produce guy was laughing and he said wish that we could sell them since they're good. So we will have to go back to one of the farmers market to get one of these pineapples to try. It was so nice to see all the vendors here at the farmers market. They had lots of fruit and a lot of them look so pretty and fresh. We will have to come back and purchase some next time.

Sold us rotten papayas--check your fruit before leaving…read more We visited the farmers market on Tuesday afternoon and bought papayas from a vendor located toward the middle, on the left side. He offered us a sample of ripe papaya, and we asked to purchase one. Instead, he quickly placed three papayas into a bag and told us it was a better deal. Because we were managing two children, we felt rushed and did not inspect each one before leaving. When we returned to our hotel, all three papayas were badly rotten, smelled terrible, and were completely inedible. Based on how quickly the vendor selected and bagged the fruit himself, this did not feel like an innocent mistake. Please inspect every piece of fruit carefully, choose it yourself, and do not allow anyone to rush you into buying more than you requested. We were extremely disappointed and wanted to warn other shoppers.

I get really excited about the huge mangoes, avocados & sugar cane tubers. My eyes are bigger than my stomach so I have to refrain from buying too much--we might not get to eat all of it before we left for the mainland. I love the taste of apple bananas so I bought about 6 of them (they're pretty small) & some okra. I've got a few more FM to visit this week. I'm always curious about what fruits & vegetables are in season this side of the pond.

It was interactive, educational, and delicious. We loved sampling everything the farm had to offer; fresh white pineapple, dried pineapple, pineapple juice, and freshly made pineapple soft serve. It is a walking tour on level ground. Pace is slow since they stop to explain different stages of planting & picking. As part of the tour, you get to plant a pineapple as well as pick one to take home. Also, you taste freshly cut pineapple, pineapple juice, dehydrated pineapple & a refreshing pineapple "icee"" made totally of pineapple. Tour takes about 2 hours & is well worth the time & money. What's extra special is the sugarloaf pineapples are sweeter & lower acid than you buy in the grocery store. We also bought 2 large pineapples to share with family in the coming week. You can also carry them home as long as you declare them at agricultural check in at airport. Also, they fed-ex pineapples if you go to their website.

Tucked into the side of the road, it's pretty easy to drive past this fruit stand if you're not paying attention. They have a pretty stocked selection of fresh fruits. And although prices were definitely on the high end, all the fruits were fresh, ripe, and ready to eat. The people manning this stand are really friendly and very willing to answer our questions.

The stand has regular bakery items as well that look good, Especially their croissants. Went to the other produce stand as they had a bigger selection. Bought 2 honey sugarloaf pineapples which were extra sweet & $1/lb. cheaper than white sugarloaf pineapples. Bought several mangoes. Cut some this morning & they were very good. Found a stand selling 100% cotton kitchen towels, beeswax paper, reusable paper towels & a few other kitchen items. They had the cutest Hawaiian prints for decent price. I bought 3 rolls of beeswax paper & a set of matching kitchen towels & reusable paper towels as a gifts. Also bought a cute Hanalei Farmer's Market cloth grocery bag for future trips. They were sold at the entrance to the market. I look forward to going to this farmer's market next year with my new bag.

With the beautiful weather and easy parking, the setting was perfect for a great time. But found out that it wasn't worth the 50 minute drive by itself, though there are plenty of places to visit on the north shore around that area...still worth the trip. We arrived a bit earlier than the 09:00 start time, so parked near the Hanalei Pier, and walked across the sand of the beach to enjoy the morning before arriving at the market. The market was fairly hopping by 09:30, with 30 different stalls selling their wares. My goal was to find two things to munch on first, as we walked the market: some sliced white pineapple and malasadas. It's clear that for food items, the market does an effective job of making sure a type of a food item is sold by only one vendor at the market...it really inflates the price. White pineapple is a lot less hardier for transport, thus hard to find on the mainland...but definitely a far superior pineapple in terms of sweetness and juiciness. The vendor that sold it here, presented it in slivers inside the typical cored pineapple container. I saw it right away, but noticed that there was no price....it ended up being $20 (I was committed at that point), which is pretty steep for maybe 1/4 of a pineapple. I found the malasada vendor, making it fresh on-site. We only wanted to taste, so got one for $3 non-filled...and it was disappointing...just OK. Should have tasted a lot better considering where we were. We circled the market multiple times, and ended up staying for about an hour. It's a market geared towards tourists like me, not locals: you are not going to find a local restauranteur looking for produce for his/her dinner menu here. Speaking of being a tourist: did end up buying a nice print of nearby Anini beach that we will frame at our home to remind us of Kauai...the artist was super grateful. The picture itself gave me a mission to find that view at Anini (as we were heading there next).

I look forward to this one because it's one of the bigger, more established farmers market. A few years back, I think it was located at the parking lot of the community college itself with more food trucks. The vendors are friendly & most give out samples. I am more inclined to purchase if the vendor is generous with samples (hint hint wink wink) Of note, it's in a grassy area & can get pretty murky/muddy after a rain. Parking is where you can find it at the park. There's of course fresh fruits & vegetables in season, cooked foods (Filipino, Thai, Korean & much more). The one that stood out was the Honey (Yellow) watermelon-- the vendor was all smiles & offered generous samples of the fruit. Oh my, my, my!! It was so sweet, crisp & mouthwateringly delicious! I couldn't pass it up. The sticker price was by size & I asked the vendor to pick a good one for me-- Yokes! $14 Wowzah. That's the most I have ever paid for any watermelon EVER. This had better me a life-changing delicious pick hahaha. We shall see. I was planning on getting my veggies here for my Sinigang (Filipino sour soup): got Ongchoy (kang-kong), okra & small taro--it is called gabi in Tagalog & gandus in Kapampangan. I love gandus coz is definitely creamier in texture compared to the big taro that is used for making poi. I always look forward to visiting this farmers market but sometimes we're not in the area when it is here. I was fortunate to have visited this time. UPDATE: the honey watermelon was sooooo worth it. It was all produce and food, like jams, nuts, cookies and pies. All the vendors were so nice and informative. We met a guy from Kauai Sugarloaf Pineapple. He was the only one giving out free samples of the pineapple and the juice. Very nice and we bought the juice from him along with the dehydrated pineapple. Worth every penny. So many vendors and so much fruit. We got the sugarloaf and a dragon fruit from the vendor near JOJOS . She was great and good prices. This was the market to come to. Lots to buy. Loved it

The shops are open during the market as well. Expect a line at some of the more popular vendors. The coconut drinks were busy--give that booth some space as when they are chopping the coconuts, stuff is flying everywhere lol! The pineapple vendor was very popular as well. Loved they had free samples available as that was probably one of the best pineapples I've ever had! Was happy I also got to try the Right Slice, which also was very popular and had a line. They were friendly and helpful in answering questions and sharing their most popular pies. We got two slices for $15. The lilikoi cheesecake was incredible and their most popular flavor. We also got the mango lilikoi which had a peach pie texture. That one was more bland and I didn't care for it as much as the other one.
