One of the highlights of our Kauai trip. Not only did we get to finally try to Sugarloaf pineapple, we got to plant and harvest one! We learned a lot about growing pineapples and look forward to growing our own at home now. Even our 6 and 8 yo enjoyed it. They are reciting things they learned from Jude to friends. Jude was very welcoming to her farm. It made us feel like a local just chatting with neighbors. Really encapsulate the aloha spirit. Highly recommend!

I did this tour a couple years ago with about eight of my friends. The owners/farmers were very very informative and it's a fascinating bit of botany to learn. The sugar loaf pineapple is worldly delicious and surprisingly better than any other pineapple I ever ate. The folks at the farm were friendly and made for a wonderful day.

What an amazing experience; fantastic owner, so friendly and incredibly knowledgeable and passionate; small field, but every moment was packed with stories and info; plus got to plant and taste the best pineapple on the planet (no joke).

I can't say enough about this tour! I love the fact that the owners themselves lead the tours and give you a very informative and hands on experience. Their love for what they do really shows and just the nicest and hospitable couple! Water was plentiful, umbrellas were provided for people wanting shade and we left full from the pineapple samples, fresh squeezed pineapple juice, pineapple smoothies and dried pineapple. And when pineapples are in season, you are gifted with your own pineapple to take home! Talk about generosity!! I have never in my life seen someone cut off the bottom of a pineapple and squeeze a large amount of juice out of it. It was amazing and the pineapples were absolutely the BEST and sweetest pineapple I have ever had. Thank you for sharing your life's journey and love of what you have grown and developed Jude and Paul!

This tour was so awesome! Paul and Jude were angels! Cold water! Fresh cut pineapple! Their hospitality was so great - they made us feel like we were with ohana. Please help support this pineapple farm. It is the best pineapple on the planet. Seriously. No acid. Great texture. Just do it. Don't think. It takes a long time to grow a pineapple..... enjoy it like you mean it.

Sugarloaf pineapple is amazing and it is worth the money. Unbelievably delicious. This review is really about the tour of their farm. Jude educated us about every stage involved in the growing of these sensational beauties. Sugarloafs need a tremendous amount of care but Jude and Paul really seem to love what they do. I was also very impressed with the philosophy of their farm: 'Treat everyone the way you would like to be treated'. They rightfully take pride that their employees are well paid and receive good medical insurance. I honestly don't know which is more impressive, how they run their farm or the amazing product that they produce. After we learned about the growing experience we got to plant , pick and gorge ourselves on these sweet gems. We also took home the pineapple we harvested and at the conclusion of the tour we were given Sugarloaf ice cream . One of the best things I've eaten and it's 100% sugarloaf! Needed no sugar or dairy. Amazing!

We visited from Oahu. Epic tour. We learned a lot, planted a couple, sampled a lot, bought a few to bring home to Honolulu & shipped some to family on the mainland. Most of all we left feeling like OHANA!!! Mahalo Jude & Paul (and amazing crew) for sharing your enthusiasm for the sugarloafs & inspiring all to mālama ka 'aina.

Highly recommend this tour! We had the tour from Jude. It was interesting, interactive (you harvest and plant a pineapple yourself), and yummy (they give you a frozen sugarloaf frosty after the tour). And you get to take home one of these delicious pineapples. (Sugarloaf tastes different from gold pineapple) Worth every penny!

My mom and I had such a wonderful time on Jude and Paul's farm today! Their pineapple is truly remarkable- everything from the texture to the flavor sets it miles apart from your conventional pineapple. The tour itself was great from start to finish. Jude and Paul had waters and rambutan (also grown on their farm) set out for everyone before the tour started and they made sure that everything was accommodated for. Jude led the tour and she is really a force of nature! She's so knowledgeable about the science of pineapples (is there a term for this haha?) and really breaks down the process it takes to produce a pineapple as great as hers with a sense of humor. It's definiteley a very intimate business as she and Paul get their hands dirty with the entire work flow (her guns will prove that she pulls her weight in the fields!). The tour is really cool because it involves the chance to plant and harvest a pineapple, and you learn quite a bit about the technique. The tour ends with us sampling freshly harvested a ton of pineapple and eating as much "phrostie" (think dole whip but with Sugarloaf pineapple and 100% better) as you could want. Plus, you get to take home a pineapple you plucked from the field! If it's not evident from my review, this tour is a must if you a) love pineapples, b) want to support a local business, c) want to learn more about the growing and harvesting of one Hawaii's national treasures!

Magical pineapple. I've never tried anything like it. Must try if you are on the island. Be prepared to spend $$$.

We had the sugarloaf pineapple at the farmers market. Definitely buy some if you can. You won't regret it. I wish we bought more.

With the beautiful weather and easy parking, the setting was perfect for a great time. But found out that it wasn't worth the 50 minute drive by itself, though there are plenty of places to visit on the north shore around that area...still worth the trip. We arrived a bit earlier than the 09:00 start time, so parked near the Hanalei Pier, and walked across the sand of the beach to enjoy the morning before arriving at the market. The market was fairly hopping by 09:30, with 30 different stalls selling their wares. My goal was to find two things to munch on first, as we walked the market: some sliced white pineapple and malasadas. It's clear that for food items, the market does an effective job of making sure a type of a food item is sold by only one vendor at the market...it really inflates the price. White pineapple is a lot less hardier for transport, thus hard to find on the mainland...but definitely a far superior pineapple in terms of sweetness and juiciness. The vendor that sold it here, presented it in slivers inside the typical cored pineapple container. I saw it right away, but noticed that there was no price....it ended up being $20 (I was committed at that point), which is pretty steep for maybe 1/4 of a pineapple. I found the malasada vendor, making it fresh on-site. We only wanted to taste, so got one for $3 non-filled...and it was disappointing...just OK. Should have tasted a lot better considering where we were. We circled the market multiple times, and ended up staying for about an hour. It's a market geared towards tourists like me, not locals: you are not going to find a local restauranteur looking for produce for his/her dinner menu here. Speaking of being a tourist: did end up buying a nice print of nearby Anini beach that we will frame at our home to remind us of Kauai...the artist was super grateful. The picture itself gave me a mission to find that view at Anini (as we were heading there next).

I look forward to this one because it's one of the bigger, more established farmers market. A few years back, I think it was located at the parking lot of the community college itself with more food trucks. The vendors are friendly & most give out samples. I am more inclined to purchase if the vendor is generous with samples (hint hint wink wink) Of note, it's in a grassy area & can get pretty murky/muddy after a rain. Parking is where you can find it at the park. There's of course fresh fruits & vegetables in season, cooked foods (Filipino, Thai, Korean & much more). The one that stood out was the Honey (Yellow) watermelon-- the vendor was all smiles & offered generous samples of the fruit. Oh my, my, my!! It was so sweet, crisp & mouthwateringly delicious! I couldn't pass it up. The sticker price was by size & I asked the vendor to pick a good one for me-- Yokes! $14 Wowzah. That's the most I have ever paid for any watermelon EVER. This had better me a life-changing delicious pick hahaha. We shall see. I was planning on getting my veggies here for my Sinigang (Filipino sour soup): got Ongchoy (kang-kong), okra & small taro--it is called gabi in Tagalog & gandus in Kapampangan. I love gandus coz is definitely creamier in texture compared to the big taro that is used for making poi. I always look forward to visiting this farmers market but sometimes we're not in the area when it is here. I was fortunate to have visited this time. UPDATE: the honey watermelon was sooooo worth it. Come & try!
