On our road trip to New Orleans from Dallas we stopped here to grab lunch. The lady that took our order was the sweetest lady. I just love her energy. I ordered the daily special which was 3 piece of fish and two sides and a drink for $12. I ordered the green beans and Mac n cheese and 3 pieces of chicken and two jalapeños. The food was delicious fresh out the oil and hit the spot. The restaurant was clean and had plenty places to eat and clean restrooms. Don't try ordering on line or over the phone. Menus are outdated and several items are no longer available. We are new to Kilgore and really wanted to try it. My husband drove over and ordered at the window, not much easier. Fish was ok but sides are very limited and the coleslaw was not good. Inside the restaurant the tables are set up family style. Small but clean. Bathrooms could use a little upgrading. Lots of regular customers come in for their favorite meal. The outside of the restaurant is an unassuming building, with a for sale sign in the front flowerbed. The inside is Alright, it is an older building. Women's bathroom was out of order. The service was great, everyone was nice and talkative. Food came out relatively quick. We got chicken tenders and fried catfish, with sides of fries, fried okra, and mac and cheese. It was less than $30 for all of that with 2 small drinks. The catfish was alright, 6/10, but the fried chicken tender on the other hand were a 10/10 they were amazinggg. Okra was good and crispy, 8/10 The fries were also good and an 8/10, The white cheddar mac and cheese on the other hand, was the best I have ever had, it was thick and creamy.10/10 The portion sizes were more than generous. read more

In town visiting my brother who brought home fried catfish, French fries and coleslaw and Xtra tartar sauce. Very good fish & fresh seasoned fries (enjoyed leftovers today). The slaw was creamy but there was an aftertaste which I couldn't tell was from the mayo or the slaw but all in all very good. Best fried chicken I've ever put in my mouth!! Don't miss this place if you are ever in the area! We were on motorcycles and could smell it when we turned the corner. It was Sunday afternoon. They were super busy. The staff was pleasant, even chatted outside with one of the cooks on her break! The white cheddar mac n cheese was creamy and perfect. The fried okra so good. Not a bad little place. Everything is fried mostly, so if you are health conscious, this is not the place for you. The fried catfish was pretty good. Only problem is, service is severely lacking if you go through the drive thru. They should honestly just take it out. Seems to be family run. A ten year old cutie may deliver your food. Nest shrimp ever. I always order catfish and shrimp here. My husband enjoys shrimp and spicy chicken.!Their chicken tenders are scratch made and tasty too. We enjoy eating here especially since they redid the dining area. I would like to see more enthusiasm or welcoming from the front cashiers but other than that we love the place. I've been coming here since 2007, and i would rather eat here than any other chicken restaurant. Their chicken reminds me of homemade fried chicken on Sundays when i was growing up. Nothing better. They offer fish, shrimp, sandwiches, and a good variety of sides and extras like gizzards. It's a nice and quiet restaurant that also has a drive thru and buckets to take home.
