I've been going to John and Vu for well over a decade and have yet to find a better nail haven. (*Not* that I would ever want to go elsewhere, but there have been a few emergencies where I was forced to try elsewhere and of course am always incredibly disappointed with any nail spot other than John's). John is a true master *chefs kiss* at the art of nails, his sweet wife Vu is a brilliant pedicurist, and Wendy is great with acrylics too! They truly listen and care for the customers wishes - this place is a GEM. Definitely call to make an appointment! P.S. Vu and Wendy bring the fashion passion too - they have fabulous style. This place is DIRRRTTTYYY! The dirtiest nail place I have ever been! Nasty acrylic nail dust is EVERYWHERE!! Even on all the tools - which were pulled out from a drawer and didn't look clean at all. The worst was after the girl finished my pedi she took the same tools she used on me and went to the next person!!! Which confirmed my suspicions. I really hope I don't get something from here... Unfortunately, the owner is super nice and they did do good work. The uncleanliness of this place however will make me never return! read more

Ok so I went to this place twice and I actually liked them as they did a pretty acrylic glitter ombre on my nails which I loved. Last night two nails came off just due to the fact I needed to get them redone. I didn't have time to go back to them and thank god I didn't! I went to another place and decided to take the acrylics off and do a new set as it was time. To my shock and horror one of my nails has a green FUNGAL INFECTION! I have been doing acrylics and gel infills for about 14 years since I was 16 years old and I have never ever had this happened to my nails. I am differently worried about my nails and hope this heals and doesn't progress. I have just ordered an anti fungal for nails online hopefully that will cure it and I won't have to pay for a doctor to prescribe me something. Very embarrassing and worrying that this has happened to me. I am not happy now I have read a few other customers have noticed cleanliness issues and another reviewer had a fungal issue from them too. Gross. read more

Well.. I'm pretty sure I got the best gel manicure I've ever had to date from johns creation. A girlfriend wanted to get our nails done so I thought I'd try her shop. It was extremely busy. I don't know about anyone else but I personally like a busy nail shop because that means people like em. We waited 15-20 even though we had an appointment but people in the shop were nice. This isn't your typical nail shop-- it's totally clean, the staff are dressed nicely and actually have nice nails. It's a friendly environment here. From what it looked like, john took the time to remember his clients' names. He'd greet all his customers enthusiastically as they came in. I do not remember the girls name who did my nails but she was great! Gentle hands and lovely work. I do not remember the last time I got a good hand massage but she gave me an excellent hand/arm massage. I wish this shop were closer to San Francisco so I could come here more!! Parking seems decent, looks like a busy place.. But I totally recommend :) loved it! read more

I LOVE John's Creation! I live all the way in Daly City and commute to San Carlos just to get my nails done by him. I've been following him since he was at Beauty World in Belmont/San Mateo because he definitely knows what he's doing and he gets the job done quick! I'm one of the girls who wants something new every time and John always tries his new artwork out on me. I leave it up to him when it comes to hand painted designs, airbrush and colored acrylic. He's the best and the only nail guy that I trust and will go to. I am constantly getting compliments on my nails and they last FOREVER! I leave here every single time feeling like a beauty queen. John is funny and personable, granted I have yet to let the master do my nails! You need to book an appointment well in advance for him! I am usually very last minute. All the girls in there are professional and a master at their craft! Also, I can go 3-4 weeks with out a fill and have yet to ever break a nail! I got my nails done with John and his wife on April 12. Almost 3 weeks later there's no lifting/breaking at all. They were very well done. 4/5 because my color faded in a way I had never had happen before. But my experience was so lovely. I can honestly say I've never had conversation with my manicurist/pedicurist like I did here. The couple was seriously so sweet and engaging. This place is amazing! I made an appointment to which I arrived a little early and John greeted me himself, asked what they could do for me, and then directed me to the colors educating me on the difference between gel and regular nail polish for acrylics. The woman who worked on my nails was very quick and not talkative, but did make sure to ask my preference on shape and made sure there were enough coats of polish for my liking. I was a little concerned about a rush job (as the entire process barely took 30 min) but was very pleasantly surprised at the end when everything looked perfect. The only thing I would warn future patrons about is the salon is VERY small, so very few places for sitting and waiting. Getting here too early might result in standing and waiting if there are others in the 4 chairs already. Will definitely be back here again! Prices are reasonable, everyone who works here knows what they're doing and they take credit cards. read more

For a $25 pedicure, this place is satisfactory. The lady doing my toes did an adequate job, though she did botch up one nail as she put my flip flops back on (at least she redid it). I got a few minor chips the following week, but overall it held up decently for a month. Probably won't be back, since there are better nail salons in the area for a comparable price. read more

I have been going to John's exclusively for 2 years now. I still love it. I still look forward coming here. I absolutely love the nail art that John and his staff provide. Everyone there does a great job. A creative job. I've never had a single problem or complaint about this awesome place. John's wife has been doing my pedicures 98% of the time and she's done a perfect job every time. I've had really painful ingrown (the big toes) toenails for my whole life. I had always cut them crappy (somehow I always managed to leave a sharp, crooked piece when I cut them, and it would continue to grow that way), which still plagues me to this day. The only relief I get is when I have a good, thorough pedicure. My ingrown toenails are my fault, and my fault alone for cutting them so bad for so many years, and John's wife knows exactly how to take care of them. When I went to John's earlier this week, there was a new lady there, and she gave me a pedicure this time. I was nervous, because if she didn't do it right it would hurt until my next pedicure. John's wife told her about my painful ingrown toenails (I have a slight affinity to be able to understand different languages) so this new lady did a great job, I didn't catch her name. The clients that come in here are awesome too. I've stricken up some great conversations with them. In two years,I have never witnessed someone unhappy with the services here. No one (customer or staff) has ever been a snob, nor condescending. The only time my acrylic nails fall off is when they've grown out for almost a month. I've never had one break. I have always been really hard on my nails and use them for tools (like opening a package lol...I know that you are really not supposed to use them as tools for things, oh well) and they hold up. I work with black, archival, waterproof, permanent and fade proof ink as well as different kinds of paint, glue, and ink. I've always been able to just wipe my nails clean after washing my hands; in the case of paint and glue I just have to use another nail to quickly and painlessly chip it off, which doesn't, and has never chipped or damage my nails in any shape or form. I get acrylic nails with gel. read more

I needed an emergency fill in and am very particular about who does them as I am in search of one that can keep my nails looking as natural as possible. I am waiting to see how long the fill in will last but I have high hopes for John. He was efficient, quick and nice! My nails look amazing and the price had me floored I spend up to $60 for a fill in so once he told me his price I was unsure of the quality. He eased all my concerns. I live in San Francisco and make the once a month trip to San Carlos to get my pink and white filled. I have got my nails done there for quite awhile. Their pink and white is AMAZZZING! What I love is that they shape them to your exact request and remember for the next. The quality is outstanding and they last a whole month for me ... I still get compliments on them with a 3 week growth... They never lift or chip. and price is very reasonable compared to pink and white gel at other places. Its about $38 for a full set and $28 for fill (again Last a WHOLE month though!!) There has been times where I got lazy and needed a quick set close to home and I always regret going anywhere else after I cheat on John's Creation. lol **Do note to make an appointment up to a week in advance though because they are always booked.... If you want pink and white or hot unique designs with glitter and fab colors go here ONLY... and ask for John or Kathy when you make an appointment!!! read more

I came in for a gel pedicure and a fill and repaint today. I was in a slight time crunch, and it seems as if the workers bit off more than they can chew. However, I'm very happy with the results, but I wouldn't recommend making an appointment when you're on a tight time budget. Regardless of that, the prices are unbeatable! The total cost of my services were $55, and they deducted $5 for some reason, and they charged me $60. I think that they may have included a tip. I should've asked about that.
