We got the gel ($55+) and regular ($37+) pedicures. All pedicures come standard with a hot stone massage which feels so nice! Regular pedicure you'll get the stone massage before polish and gel one you'll get after your toes are painted. There is plenty of selection of polishes and the staff is friendly. I started getting my dip done here a few months ago. Aaron is the best nail technician I have seen in years. I have gone to 3 other places in Redwood City and none of them even come close. He is very meticulous and detail oriented. If you're careful enough to have thinner dip, he can do that. If you're super hard on your hands (like me) he can do them thicker while still making them look amazing. No weird thick spots, still thinner at the cuticle, very smooth, and all around excellent shaping. He is also gentle and regularly checks in with you to make sure the Dremel isn't too hot when removing the old dip. No cuts. No pain. This review is long overdue. I originally came here to get my nails done for my wedding and they knocked it out of the park! I got so many compliments and have since gone back to continue with the acrylic, which I normally don't maintain regularly. I've had so much fun trying new colors and designs. When I find a picture of something I like, I bring it in and they replicate it easily. They also have reasonable prices, especially for the bay area. I wanted to try a new place to do my nails and I came here. I had pedicure and manicure. I asked for dip powder manicure. My pedicure turned out great. The manicure, not so much. Actually, I am very unhappy with the result, it looks so fake, so not like my nails at all. Not to mentioned that my nails hurt during the services and after. For pedicure I give 5*. For friendliness, I give 5*, for dip powder manicure, zero. I am really sorry, I am not trying to be mean, but how my nails look means a lot to me, or otherwise I can do them myself. $125 later and be - 5 unsatisfied with the manicure, it's a no. So... I will now have to go somewhere else to have them fixed. I do not trust this place to fix what they should have done in the first place. read more

Male nail technician was friendly but, one nail broke on 2nd day, and 2nd nail broke on 4th day. I haven't had a broken nail in over 20 years, and now 2 in 4days. Either using a cheap product or not applying thickly enough. Either way, will not be back. read more

I stopped in for a French manicure with dip and asked them to only use dip, not a gel coating on top. I noticed I was having gel put on my hands after the dip base was applied, and asked for the French tips to be in dip - which I have done all the time elsewhere- and was told that gel would "last longer and look better." The tips came out very thick, but I was fine with how it looked. I didn't have the manicure for a day before the gel layer started peeling and chipping, so I went back in and staff fixed the chipped nail and were really nice about it. However, all my other nails are now peeling off. The gel seems either not good quality or was improperly cured. I'm bummed I let them move forward with gel and do not want to pay another $60 to get it redone elsewhere. read more

Now open by appointment! Shiny Nails took advantage of the enforced COVID closure and remodeled! Fresh paint, and brand new EVERYTHING, including all new massage pedicure chairs. Love this business, and always really happy with my pedicures. I'm exceptionally grateful for the one today, because the pedicures I've been giving myself for the least however many months were just not that great... I'm usually one to go to a higher end spot for the ambiance but this is a great place for a quick and clean job, walked in randomly as I work in the area and needed a gel mani ASAP - Mai did a wonderful job and applied my polish extremely thin and meticulously for a great non bulky finish which is KEY. The ambiance is ok but no frills. She also fixed up my cuticles and all under an hour. Will be coming back. read more

As promised here is my updated review (I previously visited Shiny Nails for eyebrow waxing). I decided to stop in for a pedicure on a Wednesday morning. When I arrived at 10:30 there was only one other patron, so I was promptly seated. I had the pleasure of having Holly give me my pedicure. What I liked: 1. No frills 2. No pressure 3. Excellent service 4. Great attention to detail 5. Thebomb.com leg and foot massage Most places will shove a menu in your face after you say you want a regular spa pedi and try and get you to upgrade to a variety of things, and before you know it you've racked up a $45 pedicure before the water even starts pouring into the basin! I noticed that with every single patron all of the manicurists/pedicurists didn't try to add things on. Holly was polite and super attentive. I loved that she gave me a bottle of water (I was thirsty, so it couldn't have come at a better time!) and when it came time to the foot/leg massage HOMEGIRL WAS ON POINT. I wanted to drool and cry but figured that wouldn't be too nice. As she was massaging my feet Rihanna's "Only Girl in the World" was playing, and seriously? That's how I felt! I definitely plan to come back here and I'm VERY, VERY sure that this is my new relaxing place! read more

Not only did it take over 2 hours to complete a dip manicure.. it started cracking and breaking within less than 1 week of getting them done. They started off pretty bad and I was worried but by the end, the nails looked okay and I thought it would all be okay until 3 days later when it all went down hill. read more

Do not recommend at all. Went to get my toes done a few weeks ago, and they did a good job. No complains there, but when it was time to pay they charged me $75 for a French gel pedicure..... I paid with no comment and left. Not even a week later my gel polish started chipping and peeling. It was a decent pedicure but charging $75 for a French pedi is pretty abusive and excessive, especially when it did not even last me a full week! Needless to say, I will not be coming back, nor would I recommend to any friends. read more

Above and beyond!! Michelle did so great with my pedi. All my cuticles were removed and my nails looks so fresh and great! By far, this is the best nail salon in Redwood City & Menlo Park. As I've tried several nail salons already in the area. I can guarantee you that they will take good care of your nails. Happy Customer indeed!! I feel bad for not writing a review sooner. My husband and I have been coming here for a while now to get pedicures. I've taken him to MANY places over the years for pedicures and none of them do as good of a job as this place. He comes because he loves the long relaxing foot massage. I would have thought the fancier place across the street would have been the better option for that, but nope! They don't even compare!! Aaron at Shiny nails always makes us feel welcomed! I'm a long time customer of Shiny Nails, but had not been since Covid. I was extremely happy that they were open again and felt very comfortable while there today. All employees/customers were of course wearing masks and they had moveable barriers between customers in chairs and the nail techs. Customers were appropriately spaced out (mostly every other chair). There were liners for the pedi tubs and I saw them wipe down everything between customers. Also, super nice new massage chairs!! Would not hesitate to return and highly recommend! read more

Shiny Nails has been one of my favorite nail salons to get a pedicure at lately since they have a good selection of OPI colors to choose from, and the nail technicians are efficient but do a good job. I've only done the Deluxe Pedicure w/Hot Stone ($25, http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg&start=200&select=SjWstu_EK-M_W-LMAdplVg) which is a fair price for the Bay Area. The color always lasts me for at least 2-3 weeks, and I usually don't see a chip until after the 3 week mark. Reservations are highly recommended to avoid having to wait on the weekends. The best part about coming here is that there are plenty of restaurants on this street to eat lunch or dinner at before or after. Parking is the worst part since it can be challenging to find parking in this area, but metered street parking spots are available. read more

Towels were fresh, equipment looked properly cleaned, none of that murky blue water sitting in a dirty container that's clearly been there for who knows how long. This is my go to place to getting nails done. I first came here with a group of girlfriends last year and have been coming back every since! First off the ladies there are great! They greet you as you come in the door, offer you a bottle water, and pamper you with hot stone massage for your legs (if you choose to a pedicure). By my second appointment they knew me by name Their work on my nails have also been great. I am a teacher and get them roughed up that I wanted to try something that would last. The gel that they use is fantastic and usually last up to 3 weeks on my fingers. My toes tend to last close to 2.5 weeks. My two suggestions would be to call for an appointment and try not to book it close to their closing time. I personally have always made appointments but I've seen them have to turn away customers due to their busy schedule. Also I've been that person who books at 6 when they close at 7. Even though they take their time, when they were done, I could tell they wanted to leave. Besides that, I love this place. Make sure to bring spare change for parking on the street read more

I love this place!! I've lived in Pittsburg and San Francisco but will always make the drive to Redwood City for the manicures and pedicures. Their pedicures are amazing! From their attention to detail to the hot stone massage, these women are wonderful. They have massage chairs to relax in while they work on your feet, they bring you a water bottle which is a nice little treat. I've had different people work on my feet and they are all great but only Tammy does my nails. She is awesome! I have been going to Shiny Nails for about a year now and they are AMAZING. Their prices are SO reasonable, and the spa pedicure comes with an amazing massage, lotion and oil, hot rocks, oils, and hot towels! I have never had my nails painted anything but perfectly there. Helen is my favorite manicurist, but they are ALL wonderful! They are great at conversation and remember your name! My sister and friends sometimes make me go with them to their different nail salons, and I am never as happy as when I go to Shiny Nails. Shiny nails is a special place to me. I've been coming here for years along with my mom and sister. My 5 yr old and I had a "mommy and me" date when she was younger and got her nails here for the first time and they made it incredibly special for her Tammy, the manager, always makes it a point to remember your name and everyone is always warm and welcoming. They have a great selection of colors, they are detailed oriented and I've never had an issue with my manicure or pedicures. I highly recommend them! read more

I went here with my friend a while ago and I. And say that though the nail art was decent and nice, it wasn't what I wanted. I didn't take photos of it (proof it was nothing special) the people hardly talked to my friend and I, instead talked to each other (in another language) which really frustrates me. At least try to make conversation with the person that you are working on. The woman who helped me was a little more interactive with me, but I could tell she didn't want to be. read more

I had a wonderful experience at Shiny Nails. This place is very relaxing, nicely decorated with beautiful paintings, and has a great atmosphere. The lady who did my nails did a phenomenal job and was incredibly warm and sweet. It's been a month now and my nails are still nice and "Shiny" as they name themselves, even through all the housework and errands. People need to know about this unique and wonderful place. Kinda weird how on yelp it says there is no appointments, but everythime I come in I call Mai right before hand to ask if I can have a scheduled time frame to show up. Jenny gave me my pedicure, toes look beautiful and she even added some nice nail art. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The chairs were full the entire time I was there, a very good sign. Everything was really clean and I noticed they scrub the foot baths between every client. read more

The woman used the manicure drill machine to grind off layers of my nail color and extension. The machine seemed like not sanitized and she did it so rough that it really hurt! I never hurt that much before! Then she asked me to chose color for my nail since previously I said I want the color. I chose between two colors and she even picked the different color that I chose. I told her this color is different for the sample, then she found another one. I was in a rush and asked her how long time will it take for the color. Another woman started to blame me it is because me asked her to find colors that waste a lot of time. I was mad and I changed my mind, said that I only need they take all of my nail extensions off (because they told me over and over again that they cannot take all of the extensions off, leave a thin layer for me). The woman started use alcohol to soak my nails. After that, she used nipper and nail file that were really dirty, like it has been used for hundreds of years. She even used the nipper to cut my nails to take off my extensions and it was hurt!!!!!! She also used the nail file really hard and my finger was bleeding at last. The things in the nail polish bottles were dirty, like the dirty white! After I bleed, she still want me to have the oil or something that can moisture my fingers (it was dirty)!!!!!!!!! Overall, my natural nails are broken so much and hurt a lot! I even got really red under my nails! Don't go to this store for you own sake!!!!!!!
