I went with french gel on my natural nails, and white gel pedi. This is one of the only places that doesn't give me a hard time when I request my nails to be super short. Excellent service. Le was my nail tech. All techs are well experienced. Price was very reasonable in comparison to other nail salons in the Peninsula. Salon had an excellent interior with brand new chairs nail spa with massage, cellphone wireless charger. Very good lighting, happy vibes inside. Music was neutral and instrumental only. TV was on with nature tv show with no sound. Place is very clean with good ventilation. They dispose the plastic liners every after customer and sanitize the spa basin. I called a few salons in the area because I needed a gel overlay (aka poly gel) fill and this one said they did it. When I arrived they for my appointment, they sat me down right away and I mentioned it was a gel acrylic overlay fill. Not only did they go on and on saying that I had acrylic and NOT poly gel, but Anna proceeded to put acrylic bonding liquid on each of my nails and my nails stared to MELT! It gets worse, she said she didn't know what was happening and instead quickly put acrylic OVER MY MELTING GEL NAILS! Below is the inspo pic I showed and the quite terrible final result. Sad that I used to come here for years with my mom and now I will have to find another nail salon to go to I asked for a full set mani with white nail polish and a glitter base on top. After she was done painting them, she told me to go to the drying station and then went straight to the break room. That's when I looked at my nails and was so disappointed of how messy they were. I didn't like how they came out at all so I asked if she could fix them for me and she hands me some cotton with nail polish remover I ended up taking off all of the white out polish she had put and asked her if I could get my money back. She said she could only take off $5 because she did the acrylic so I just told her that's fine but no apology and didnt offer to fix them so I left the salon pissed and frustrated of the service! It's was an extremely horrible experience.......The man kimmy has working there was very rude and raise his voice to my little girl. My daughter ask and show him a light gray color. The man that kimmy has working there decided to raise his voice and in a very rude unprofessional matter told my daughter " thats the color you told me" he raptly said it to my daughter and I noticed my daughter turning red and getting upset and scared of him. I told the man to stop talking to her in that manner and told kimmy he will not talk to my daughter that way and he is making my daughter frightened and scared . I told kimmy it's not funny and this is very unprofessional of her and I got up paid for what was done and told her we will never come back. It was a horrible experience for my daughter. A while back i started going to this nail salon-- and by a while back i mean in high school! it was convenient since it was walking distance from my house- unfortunately for awhile there service fell off and the quality of service was very bad so i hadn't gone back in a few years. Recently i decided to give them another chance and i am so glad i did!!!!! The girls are great and so sweet! What I love about Kimmys is they are very quick but the quality does not suffer!!- they know what they are doing and they are not over charging for it. My nails always look great and last! I got my nails done at Kimmys nail salon because my bf was getting a haircut next door. I got a regular mani and pedi and while the filing, shaping, cuticle removing was all great- the nailpolish started cracking the same day and within the next day it was already chipped. Picture attached shows the cracking and chipping after three days. Kind of bummed the mani pedi lasted like 12 hours. Updating based on owners comment below: thank you for responding back to my review, I appreciate it! My review already mentions that I came in for a regular, and I'm aware that regular chips more quickly than gel. My issue was that within hours of getting the polish it was cracking, which is not normal for regular polish! read more

The lady that started my manicure was sent to do a pedicure while the person I think is the owner stepped in and did a rush job to finish my polish. They steal from their customers !!!!! I use to come here all the time when I was younger. Recently went back because my regular nail salon was busy . Kimmy's is now under new management. I got a service that was rushed and when I was done my total was 43$ so I paid with my debit card and gave them cash tip. a coupe days later I checked my mobile banking and they charged my card for 50$ after the fact that I signed my receipt and put no tip and I wrote in the sub total at $43. I went back and asked to see my receipt and they forged extra tip in a different color ink. I could not believe my eyes. I'm guessing loosing a customer costs 7$ so unprofessional. Make sure you don't pay with debit or credit, and if you do you keep track of everything. Never going back. read more

Kimmy's is under new management. I'm not impressed. I called and asked what time I should come in, 1 pm. So, I get there at 1. They are completely full. So I sit for a good 15 minutes. Then when the owner is doing my nails, she's taking personal phone calls during the whole thing. So here's why I'm not going back: 1. A few weeks ago I called to try to schedule a pedicure and the guy who answered the phone (the owner's son) was super rude. 2. Today I had an appointment on the books for 1, it was more like 1:20 before they started - I was on my lunch. 3. When I walked in Lily acknowledged me and the owners son snapped at her. 4. The owner kept taking personal phone calls while doing my toes. It's not the phone call that bothered me but the time it was taking. I specifically called to ensure I'd be back at work on time. I was not. Spend the few extra bucks and head over to White Orchid Day Spa downtown San Mateo. It's cleaner, the people are nicer and they do a better pedicure. Serves me right for what happened today, I intentionally went to the cheaper place. Lesson learned. read more

If i could id give them no stars! I came in because I had a broken nail and asked if maybe they could glue it back or fix it since my nails were freshly done from someone where else. They said yes they could fix- and she started taking my shellac off! All of the staff at Kimmy's Nails except for one person is very nice. I think the owner (I'm not sure of name, but she also does the waxing) has terrible customer service and made me feel like I was bothering her. I wish I would've remembered names because the girl that did my pedicure was very nice and my pedicure looked great. My acrylic looked messy and uneven. Unfortunately I won't be going back. Called about 30 minutes before asking if they had an opening, and they did. I got there and they immediately began the pedicure, which was great. I had never been to Kimmy's Salon before, but I am incredibly pleased! It was very relaxing (they massage your feet and legs, along with a chair that massages your back), and the nail job itself was extremely thorough! They fixed up my nails perfectly, fixing a problem I had with the skin surrounding my big toenail, and the paint job was quick with no flaws. I will definitely be coming back! read more

I used to come here all the time, until they changed their management. The guy who does my nail fill is quick, but inefficient. He really hurts my nails and made them bleed on several different occasions. I then limited my visits to this salon for pedicures only, until the last two times when I came in. The woman working on my feet offered a complementary hot-wax treatment where they apply hot wax on your legs through a plastic bag. Well, the bag was damaged and I ended up with hot candle wax spilled all over my legs, twice! It's a shame, because this plays used to be pretty awesome! read more

When I walked by this place a while back, I asked if they do soak off gel nail. They didn't sound confident in their answer, but they said they do. So I finally made an appt. 1. Got there at 10:25am for my 10:30am appt. Although they are supposed to be open at 10am, nobody was there. They came a bit after 10:30am. 2. I asked for reverse French nail with pearl white and blue/green. They had no idea what 'reverse French nail' was... Then they said they can't use 2 colors. Why??? Who knows. All they have to do is put pearl white and dry, then put blue on top. They don't seem to know what they can do with the gel. After going back and force about it, I found out it is NOT soak off gel(Cal gel) I was thinking of. You can do pretty elaborate designs with soak off gels. So this is just UV gel, still they can easily put multiple colors with that, too. So I ended up getting (almost) reverse French with just the blue with polka dots (which looks more like dots on a dice...) So they are not up to date in the industry. They had no idea when I mentioned soak off gel, Cal gel, reverse French... And California passed a legislation that nail salons have to throw out any tool that cannot be disinfected. That includes nail files and I could tell the nail file they used was not new. It is so close, so I was hoping I would like this place. But I am better off doing my own nails. It is just very time consuming. Or drive to Burlingame. I know there is a salon I could go to get soak off gel nails. read more

The lady not only went against what she said but took off the nail color she specifically requested not to take off because the salon didn't have that same nail color.
