The technician began work without providing any estimate or pricing upfront. Early in the repair, he took our credit card to purchase a part. While we take responsibility for allowing that, in retrospect this is a very unusual and questionable practice. After completing the repair, he later called and quoted an extremely high price ($2500 for three hours of work). He then demanded cash payment via Zelle and initially refused to provide an invoice, which is highly unprofessional and concerning. He kept saying "how do you want me to write this up" when we said we will not be paying that amount for 3 hours of work. After speaking with other HVAC companies, we learned the quoted price was significantly higher than industry standards. We eventually negotiated a lower price, but the entire experience was stressful and lacked transparency. We strongly recommend working with HVAC companies that provide written estimates before starting work, maintain clear payment practices, and provide proper invoices for services rendered. DO NOT USE THIS PERSON, this practices are borderline criminal. We will have to bring in an additional HVAC person this weekend to check his work. The wiring on the unit looks significantly more messy that it did prior to his repair. We have never had such an awful experience with a technician or a contractor at our house. To obtain an invoice, we had to put all our conversations in writing and communicate only via text, so we have proof that this individual completed work in our house in case we need to address any of these repairs in court at a later date.
