This wet floor sign was knocked down by an angry patient in-front of staff as she left and 4 hours later it's still on the ground.

Zero Stars! This place is unprofessional and straight trash. They could learn a few things from Caroll Hospital Center in Caroll County Md. The technician that draws blood is nasty. The front desk... No hospitality whatsoever and no patience for patients. Do they not have a lead nurse for the ER desk? Everyone is on the phone texting or chatting. The guard at the front is lazy and practically laying in the chair.

There was also a woman named Heather that was super friendly and helpful as well! Great staff. Any emergency hospital will take awhile just know that. The rooms are fairly large. The doctors seemed to know what they are talking about. "Seemed". I feel like if you go to an emergency room, please be very descriptive on how you feel so the doctor can narrow what you have easier. My brother was the one I was there for. This was his second time and he same the first doctor was RUDE and did not seem like he was just in a rush to get him out of there. There is plenty of parking and there is vending machines that take credit card. Just a heads up. Past experience? My father died in this hospital from health reason but the way the doctor announced his death scared me for life. I hated this hospital every since. Staff was terrible! But!!!! From the ER side, Shane and Heather and I wish I knew the other doctor that helped my brother did a great job with him!

He completely dismissed and invalidated all of our concerns and all but accused us of lying. He spoke with an extreme level of disrespect and directed more of his attitude toward the people of color in the room. I would recommend that no one with any kind of urgency visit this ER and no one who wishes to be treated with basic decency and respect see Dr. Matthew Kramp. His horrific complete and total lack of beside manner completely derailed any hope we had of finding some answers, let alone timely ones. When we informed the nurse of our experience, she suggested we fill out the survey they'd be mailing us, and when pressed, offered that we could call the manager (but no contact info was provided). There seems to be no expectation of timely or adequate care at this hospital. 0/10 absolutely not worth going.

Here we are in this crazy, COVID-laden world and all I hear are "get tested" and "get vaccinated"…read morepractically every day. We've been dealing with this for two years now and it's getting quite tiresome honestly. Nevertheless, when I finally made the conscious decision to get vaccinated, I was trying to figure out where to go and found out that my local health department gives out the vaccine and you can choose which one you want. I was able to register online for my appointment. When I got my first two shots, I went to the vaccine clinic that the health department was holding at Howard County Community College. I recently got my booster and this time, I went to the actual health department location on Stanford Blvd in Columbia. Each visit was pretty seamless. I checked in, they verified which vaccine I was getting and if it was my first, second, or third shot, and then I got in line to wait for the next available nurse to give me the vaccine. Afterwards, they have a waiting area and ask you to wait 15 minutes to make sure you don't have any bad reactions to the vaccine and then you're on your way. The Howard County Health Department also offers COVID testing and distributes at-home tests as well. I'm hoping to see an end to this frenzy soon but I'm thankful that HoCo Health Department has been very helpful through all of this.

The testing lines seem to be long everywhere and here is no exception. On this Monday morning they were giving out 400 at home test kits and doing onsite testing from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. People started lining up at 6 AM for the at home test. Around 8 AM one of the employees came out and they passed out tickets to the first 200 people in line. This guarantee that each of them would receive two tests. Everyone else was sent home because there were no more tests available. But most of those people just walk and get into the line for the whole on site testing. There were a lot of walk-ups it only a few people who showed up with appointments. If you look online there were no appointments available. The weights were pretty long considering people waited over an hour before the doors even opened. Once they started the line move pretty quickly. Hopefully the situation improves and the testing locations will have the small backyards in the near future. Overall they are doing a pretty good job at the Howard county health department.

3 hrs to be seen by doctor when I had 4 bone breaks and major dislocation…read more Doctor said I needed surgery asap. No orthopedic there on weekends. So they did the best they could to re-align major dislocation but they said they did not have the right tools, doctor, equipment, computer software, so the could not do it right. So they just did whatever they could. "No access to orthopedic on weekends." Like being in some backwoods swamp location not Howard County, Md. They told me they were going to keep me till Monday when a Orthopedic could come and do surgery right away. About an hour later, a orderly or assistant came and told me I was released to go home. I had told them I have no way to get into my apartment because there are 4 staircases to top floor. THEY DID NOT CARE. I HAD TO CRAWL MY HANDS AND KNEES UP 4 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS, OUTSIDE IN THE COLD, WITH A TRIMALLEOLAR (TRIPLE) BONE BREAK IN MY ANKLE. I AM 66 YEAR OLD. THEY TREAT PEOPLE LIKE GARBAGE HERE. The Dr would not talk to me at release time, they sent low level staff. He gave me crutches but they were not adjusted to my height. I asked him why am I not getting surgery here from a JHU Dr but he said "the important thing is to get you out of this room." He gave me generic printout of a aftercare that did not apply to my situation. They gave me only one option to call myself for surgery, non-JHU. I called the next day cause so exausted. The place they told be to call had poor reviews and no ankle specialist. I made and appt anyway. 3 days later now they said they have no appt for me even though they sent confirmation. Potomac Valley Ortho. Now I am "shopping" on my own for a Dr but it is too late now I CANNOT GET SURGERY WITHIN A WEEK which they were so adament about but they would not help me. My foot has swollen double in size. Further more, in Emergency Room, they kept saying they would get me ice and also help me to the bathroom but they never did. Then the Dr. Patel got angry with me because I had to use the bathroom urgently. But I had been there 5 hours and no one would give me a bedpan or anything. THIS IS NO WAY TO TREAT HUMAN BEINGS OR EVEN ANIMALS. My life and being able to walk properly in the future is in jeopardy. The nurses were very good, but JHU pretends it is too broke to provide care in their hospital or adequate Drs, staff, or patient support. They only care about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

And to an extent I get that they are overworked and underpaid but…read moreyou are dealing with very ill people, have some compassion or work elsewhere, healthcare workers are always in demand. I am a healthcare worker who treats patients every day and I would never treat my patients this way. Never. I came in unable to speak due to my jaw being clenched uncontrollably, unable to move my arms or hands, and with severe chest pain, I literally could not speak or move my arms/hands. The lovely tech kept yelling at me to make a fist for the blood work but I could not, so I had to yell through clenched teeth, "I can't". Then she couldn't be bothered to wheel me out to the ER waiting area, so the EMT who brought me in the ambulance did. They need some education regarding communication with people who are having trouble communicating or even disabled, I can't imagine how they treat them. Again, I came in via ambulance with severe chest pain and the tech was yelling at me. I'm sure that was helpful. Also, sitting me in the waiting room with severe chest pain for 9.5 hours and the desk starring at me like I've lost my mind was helpful too. Deplorable behavior and they should really be ashamed. I came in march for an inpatient stay and guess what, the people on that unit were rude as well. Maybe it's me, no it's them. I am always polite to healthcare workers because I am one. I will say when my daughter was in the NICU here, they were amazing. That's it though, L&D was trash too. They missed a severe issue post delivery. Do better. If I didn't think I was literally dying I would have insisted they take me somewhere else but it was close.
