I have been coming here for years. He has repaired several of my shoes and dyed a wallet. He does solid work but there are a couple challenges. 1. Pricing is not consistent. I think he just figures out a price on the spot. This price is often a bit high. 2. Disorganization - I can relate to other reviews that brought this up. I came to pick up my items. They were not done and he couldn't find them in the abyss of shoes and leather goods. He finished them while I was there. If he needed more than a week just let me know. read more

Sadly not a nice experience. Was going to drop off a couple of bags that needed repair. I think the guy just invent the prices on the spot. One of the bags is of a known brand and he was going to charge more than a new bag would have cost! When I pointed to that and made the decision to not repair the bag he became grumpy. Picking up the second bag a few days later was not a better experience. He literally did not say a word! The repair was done, but in the process his machine must have ripped the cloth lining of the bag... so bottom line fixed one thing and messed up another. I will not be back in the future. read more

JOHN is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING--and honest! If he can't do it, or it isn't worth it, he's not going to waste your time or his. But when I tell you his work is 'magical'--it is restoring quality is his job and he doesn't disappoint. It's worth it for me to travel across town than shop near by. Small neighborhood shoe repair. It's a great place. It's a little chaotic at times and you need to make sure you keep track of your tickets as items sometimes get misplaced but they are always found. John does an amazing job with shoes as well as fixing luggage and bags among other things. Definitely a good choice if looking to get things fixed. read more

It's a SHAME. They used to be fantastic. I've recommended people to them. My last pairs of shoes came back in worse condition than when I dropped them off. Patches of paint missing, obvious glue spots and smears, gaps where there was supposed to be repairs. Just SLOPPY. He was more concerned about putting on new heel plates than the actual repairs. I had a designer leather bag rip and it was such a hassle to try and fix. I called up the designer but they wanted me to ship it all the way to NYC and pay for both ways shipping and repairs. No one else in the area had the right tools to fix it, or didn't want to risk messing with the expensive bag. I finally found John's repair shop through Yelp. He was able to fix the rip perfectly and even reinforced the handle on the other side. And I was planning on wearing the bag on a date that evening (yeah I know, I shouldn't have waited so last minute to fix the bag). But John had it done in about two hours. So how much did I pay for top service and speed? $10! I can't recommend this place enough. I'm pretty sure that with John's work, that particular bag won't rip again. But if anything else ever does, I know the first place I'm going to. read more

I came to the business during posted business hours and the door was locked. I called the number on the sign and spoke to a gentleman that explained he wasn't open because his son had an appointment. He assured me that he'd be open the next day. It's now the next day during posted business hours and guess what?... the door is still locked. It's a 15 minute drive here one way for me, so I have wasted an hour of my life trying to do business here. Hopefully you'll see this and avoid wasting your time like I did by going somewhere else. read more

Great work! I dropped off 4 shoes (3 heel replacements and 1 sole replacement). Heels were done same day. Leather replacement sole was completed 4 days later and looked amazing. Johns a real craftsman. John shined all shoes as well. I was super satisfied! Gave only 4 stars because of the wait. I arrived for pick up at the time promised and had to wait another 30-45 min for completion. Similar for sole replacement. Arrived 1 day after Eta and was told they weren't ready.Easy fix- I'll call before pick up next time. read more

Paid a good chunk of change to get some vibram outsoles put on a nice pair of boots. not only were they not done by the day he guaranteed them by, but after two casual wears the outsoles are detaching at the toe. I won't be going back. read more

This owner is from a spanish speaking country (unsure of where exactly) which is cool and that is why I attach myself in the beginning because they are hard workers. Well. Let me tell you something, he must know and think that to because he is all the way up on money!!!John prices are extremely expensive for the repair of fixing your items!!If you think you are saving money from saving old valuables think again!He is actually charging you more just because it might be a valuable. The owner has a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ on his mind!! John is so pricey I left a pair of pumps there because he wanted $45 from me to fix just the points on the pumps!!He makes up his own prices and does not have a legit pricing selection, it's just whatever!!He charged me 30 bucks to fix a pair of Aldo sandals with a pop string.Not to mind you That's 1/3 of the price I paid for it. Also, he charge me 15 bucks for a broken zipper on my purse, and the purse only costs 22 dollars in New York.I confronted him about his price and ask him to drop it down $5 and he said no "he got bills to pay' ! I then asked him for a bag , and he act like he didn't want to give it to me.I one day decided before I payed to sit next door in the nail salon to watch customers of his walk in and out , and none of them looked happy.They either seemed stress that their belongings were there, or in a relief that they got their stuff and they could finally leave.This owner is very good at his craft but,is a con artist!! I don't trust him and I spoke to other customers and they said that he was high too, but could not understand why? Yeah, I get it this is a small town , and yes there are limited options, but don't feel threaten by that!!It might take a little more time, but just go in the city to the chinese and they will charge you weigh less than this fellow!!! I've been taking items to John for over three years now and he has done excellent work on each item; very impressed! To date, John has fixed the broken and worn down heals on at least five pairs of shoes, boots included, repaired the straps of a hiking backpack and replaced the torn side of it, repaired leather purses, fixed torn leather on expensive boots and repaired leather carrying luggage. My family has also gone to John for two years and never had an issue. He has always turned the work around in a quick and timely manner and has always been a professional. Sometimes the work is more expensive than I anticipated, but for the quality, it's worth it, and it's more affordable than replacing the item. Only once was the work not ready when promised, but even professionals are allowed mistakes, I believe. I simply waited a few days and it was ready. I have called to remind John I was picking up an item, and again, it was always ready, but I only did this once or twice. John is amazing with leather. .. completely transformed my heel and soles on a number of boots. These were expensive, but even expensive comes through with plastic, not rubber heels. John removed that plastic and replaced with rubber changing the way the boot felt. They r all comfortable now and don't make all that noise when u walk. Polishing even without charge. Thanks john. . I took a purse there that needed a replacement to the straps. I brought it into the store on May 10th. I asked if they could be ready by May 25th and he said yes. I showed up on June 8th and it wasn't done. he gave me a story that he had to get the letter from Allentown and that it would be ready by the end of the day but I was on my way out of town so I couldn't come back.. Today July 8th I called and I get another story of why my purse repair isn't done. He told me I could come get my purse and a refund and then he hung up on me. If you need something done on time don't go here. Now the summer is half over and I don't have my summer purse. Oh and by the way I came here all the way from Collegeville because the last time I used him several years ago he did a great job. Awful brought my suitcase into the Bensalem shop to fox a wheel. They told me it would take a week and cost $40. A month and a half later I go back after not hearing from them. It's now at their Ambler location. They tell me to pick it up there or they will bring it back to that store. So I go to pick it up and they didn't even start working on it and now the cost will be $120 to fix it. Awful service and experience. I would rather buy a new one than have them fix it. read more

"If you'd called to remind me to do it..." Really?? I took a purse here for repair based on the (admittedly only 3) glowing reviews on yelp, but it has been a bad experience from start to finish: 1. $25 to replace a tiny little strap attachment loop on a purse? I said OK because it would cost a lot more to replace it, but it seemed steep. 2. I waited until after lunch on the day he said it would be ready, and when I got there he hadn't even started it. He said it would take 20 minutes and could I come back - making me question, again, the steep fee. 3. When I got it home I discovered he'd sewn the inside pocket into the stitching he did, so I had to take it back to get that fixed. He apologized and said he'd have it ready the next day. This time I didn't show up until the end of the day he said it would be done - about 1/2 hour before closing - and HE HADN'T STARTED IT. He asked if I could wait - NO! I'd gone out of my way after work, making the rest of my evening run behind schedule already. When I pointed out that twice he had not had the repair done on the day promised he suggested I call to remind him if I want it done on time. SERIOUSLY?? WTF?? read more

Brought in 2 pair of shoes: one needed the toe box stretched, and that was satisfactory. Second pair, loafers, needed cleaning and new insoles. The loafers weren't ready when I arrived on the day promised. The insoles had excess glue staining the uppers, and while the prior insoles were stitched in, only glue was used in the repair. The uppers hadn't been touched and while I waited - and waited, since another customer arrived and was assisted - John sprayed the leather shoes with something to make them shiny and handed them to me, still not cleaned.
