Do not recommend Johnson family dental. They only care about your money not you. Dr said I needed my 3 crowns re done which I didn't have any problems or pain with and then took 6 weeks to feel some what comfortable and not in pain. I was in so much pain and he didn't know what was going on and just wanted to jump to root canals. I didn't allow then he got frustrated with me. I was told when I paid everything was included in the price and insurance covered some and I ended up paying what the insurance didn't pay only to get billed 3 months later. They don't care about their patients they just care about the money. Please save yourself the hassle, time and money and don't go to them. Now I'm trying to discuss the bill and they won't call me back. read more

Ok. I guess the care was fine. However, the staff turnover is unbelievable. I have never had the same dental hygienist twice. Also, at check in I was told it was free. My teeth were cleaned, I was informed I need thousands of dollars in work, and when I was leaving I was told I got some kind of special dental cleaning and I'd have to pay. This was my childhood Dentist, I went there most of my life. I am 40 now and I am still trying to fix all of the work that they messed up in my life. I've had several consultations with other places and I just had new x-rays done today at another dentist. I still have two root canals that were done wrong by Johnson Dentistry, the roots of the teeth are still there and they didn't use the correct materials. I'm now looking into what action I can take. It's not the first time, 10 years ago they didn't prepare a basic root canal correctly and didn't fully remove the root on my molar. It became so infected after the root canal that part of my jaw disintegrated and it had to be removed 4 months later. They didn't acknowledge or help fix the problem, just prescribed me antibiotics. I recommend that anybody that has had work done by them even if you were satisfied, go check and make sure by another Dentist that they used the proper materials and removed the entire root of the tooth. It can take months to years for problems to manifest, and in that time you can suffer major health issues because of it. I just don't want anyone else to go through what I went through. read more

Went here for a simple tooth extraction and the dentist left a big portion of the tooth still inside my mouth. My gum grew over it and I had to have it cut out. I paid $500.00 for the original extraction and went to another place to fix his mistake. He left a piece of my root in there with a file in the piece. This was my whole reason for the extraction in the first place. On top of having to pay more, I am upset that I paid him so much for a job he didn't do! Never took an X-ray after to make sure he got it all out. I suffered for 20 days and will Never go here again! read more

The staff are all friendly and helpful from scheduling your first appointment to checking in and being seen. My appointment was consistent from the x-ray tech to the hygienist to the dentist. They were all very communicative and provided great patient care for not only my teeth but paperwork and answered all questions and concerns I had. The rooms are comfortable with a television, and all x-rays are done from the patient chair. PPE was worn by all and mitigation's for COVID-19 were all taken as expected including a temperature check, screening and sanitizer. I felt very safe. read more

Everyone is so nice and easy to talk to here! I had great experiences both times I came in. I went in for a check up and a cleaning, got some ex rays and they recommended I get my wisdom teeth removed. I just got home from having my teeth removed, was done in under an hour. There is always a scene of tension or anxiousness when having to go to the dentist, but each visit here has been good. This location is nice and quite and the receptionist are always nice and polite. Each room has its own TV to let the patient relax. I've only every had Ashly do my cleanings. She's amazing and always in a great mood. Dr. Truong fixed a previous filling from a cracked tooth. Ever since he worked on this tooth, I don't notice the pain or discomfort I used to have from the previous work another dentist did. I first came to Johnson Family Dental in Camarillo because the dentist I was using quoted me $7000 for some dental work and I wanted a second opinion. I ended up staying with them not only because they were a little cheaper (I am a cash patient) but because their customer service is THE best! I have anxiety and they made me feel comfortable from day one. Lisa is absolutely the best dental assistant I have EVER met! She makes you feel like a friend from the minute she says hello until she personally walks you to the front after you're done to make sure everything is taken care of. Even when I come in on a day she isn't the assistant for me, she pokes her head in to say hi and make sure everything is going well with me. She always has a smile on her face and her laugh is contagious. The front office staff is always friendly and on top of things. Dr D- he has gone above and beyond to figure out my issues (there are SO many lol) and he refuses to just jump the gun on unneeded procedures. He has taken his time and refused to do things without proof they absolutely need done!! If you are looking for a dentist who isn't trying to "sell" you anything, I promise you wont be disappointed. Dr D personally calls me after a procedure to see how I am doing and checks up on me periodically afterward to see how the progress is going. What dentist PERSONALLY calls you?! If you are a cash patient I highly recommend signing up for their in house insurance plan. It has saved me $1000s of dollars and is well worth the yearly fee. They also accept Care Credit. I would have loved to leave a five star review for this office, as the staff have been wonderful. However, to insist on collecting a debt, after both insurances have paid, I prepaid appx $2500 for the service, and to do so in the midst of a global pandemic is extremely tone deaf and insensitive. And when asked if payments could be deferred until the shelter in place orders are lifted and be told "no, sorry" is absolutely atrocious. While the dental staff themselves were great, 2 weeks after my appointment I received an additional bill for my appointment. I paid an amount at the office the day of my appointment and continue to receive bills for additional amounts. When I tried to call for clarification, I was told they would call me back with more information. I had to call back 2 more times before I was able to speak to the billing and accounts manager and even when I got through to her, she once again told me she needed to call me back within 30-45 minutes. It has been over 2 hours and I still have not heard back. On top of that, when double checking the bill, the paper copy I was given day-of, listed 3 different codes/descriptions, however, the bill they sent me later showed 7 codes/ descriptions. Not sure where the additional services came from... Overall, great service when you are physically there, the billing/accounts department did not impress me. Going forward, I am not sure I will be returning here due to all of the extra work I had to do outside of my appointment in dealing with billing. read more

I am excited about sharing my recent visit for a much needed cleaning after being on lock down from the pandemic. I happened to see Johnson Family Dental on my visit to Quest Diagnostics for blood work. It is so difficult to find a dentist you can trust because it seems to me the dental industry has changed and they try to sell so many procedures that are unnecessary especially for older consumers, all we want is basic upkeep to get by and be able to chew. So my first impression of Dr. Danaei (Dr D) was his personality, very upbeat, friendly and conservative approach and treatment plan.The Dental Hygienist, Paula gets 5 stars, it has been years since I have had such a comprehensive deep cleaning. I think I have found the type of dental group I have been searching for many years. I also need to mention all the wonderful front office staff and the Dental Assistants that start the process of making you feel comfortable. In my observation everyone that works there seems HAPPY. Everyone in the office was incredibly friendly. Was greeted the moment I got in the door and offered a coffee or water. When it was time for me to go back the girl who brought me back showed me around and told me about the company. I never felt like they pushed any treatment on me. [NOTE: This refers to Anacapa Dental, which is now Johnson Family Dental as of 2015.] 3 years ago I went to a dentist in San Diego who said I needed laser periodontal treatment (and wouldn't do a cleaning until I did that), a root canal, and a cap for a total of over $1,000 in co-pays alone. I didn't go back (had no pain) to that dentist or any for the next 3 years. After three different colleagues recommended Anacapa Dental Care, I decided to be a grown-up about my dental stuff and just get it over with. What a LOVELY surprise! They said I didn't need that laser treatment, just a good cleaning. I didn't need a cap, just a small filling. And I didn't need a root canal-- in fact, that tooth just had a small chip in it that they could fill easily. $1,000+ of co-pays turned into less than $100! That's one of my biggest things with a dentist (or a mechanic for that matter, but that's a different review): I want to know I can trust an expert who will not take advantage of my lack of knowledge in that field (dentistry or car engines!). What Dr. Reed recommended for my care matched what I felt was going on in my mouth. He and his staff also exceeded my expectations in the other key areas of what I want from a dentist: gentle/least amount of pain possible, accessible, friendly, and not out to make me feel guilty! I used to see Dr. Reed and when he retired I wasn't sure what I was going to do. I decided to try my friends dentist since I needed a bridge for my two lower front teeth that were loose. Their office was friendly and they took X-rays and told me what they thought needed to be done, gave me a price, which I thought was high and I left. I decided to take a chance on Johnson Family Dental, since they bought Dr. Reeds practice and are in Camarillo. i went in and had my free x-rays and found out that they use digital x-rays, not the old fashion kind the other dentist used. They found a large cavity that the other dentist missed, you could see it clearly on the x-ray, so I decided to have that taken care of and then have the bridge done when the crown was completed. The price was the same as the other dentist but now it included the crown. I was lucky I didn't need a root canal. Dr. Truong was wonderful. I, like most people, hate shots but with all the shots I have had over the years, Dr. Truong is the only dentist I have ever used where I did not feel the needle going in. He did a great job on the crown and an even better job on the bridge. The bridge is on the lower front 4 teeth and it looks and feel amazing. My temporary bridge fell out and I needed it put back in so I immediately went to the office, walked in and was helped within a few minutes. When the permanent bridge came in the Dr. Didn't like something about the fit so he sent the bridge back. He did this a few times because he is perfectionist and wanted it to fit perfectly and now I have perfect lower front teeth and no one would ever know it is a bridge. The staff is great, friendly and knowledgable. I would recommend this dental practice to anyone who is looking for a new dentist or wanting to make a change. read more

My husband and his family have been going to this dentist for a long time now and naturally after we married he said this was the dentist to have. I had my own dentist but decided to come here and see how it was. I hate getting my teeth worked on especially getting them cleaned. I just got a deep cleaning here on 1 side of my mouth and it was amazing. Feels weird to say that but my teeth feel amazing and I'm not in pain. They were able to schedule both me and my husband the following day and we were able to get all of our cleanings and even got a crown done within a few hours! I continue to be happy with my choice of Johnson Dental. They're very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I do not understand the addl $10 fee which is purportedly to cover the cost of all the masks, etc. they're now required to have due to the corona virus. It should be handled as part of the cost of doing business in my opinion and not handed off to patients. I did not cause all of the masking rules, sanitary regulations, etc. Why do I have to be billed for it? Businesses have much deeper pockets than elderly patients. read more
