I reached out to this company because I'm looking for services due to an employment issue. I spent over an hour detailing my issues during my intake interview and was told I would be contacted shortly. After more than 2 weeks, I called to follow up and was told they were just waiting for the second attorney to make her notes and I would be contacted shortly. After more than a week passed, I followed up with a second phone call only to be told the same thing. I let the person know how time sensitive the situation is and she seems to understand and promised I would be contacted shortly. It's been over a month since my initial interview and NOTHING. It's very unprofessional. I let them know I DO NOT want their services. It's just common courtesy to keep the person up to date with what's going on and maintain open communication. This was a TERRIBLE experience and I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. read more

I just barely read this reply in my Yelp inbox. I thought this law office would help me with a federal discrimination lawsuit. Instead I was given the runaround and ignored. I even had the money, in cash, to pay for legal fees since my partner passed. I thought, I'm a disabled veteran, I'm gay, my partner just passed away, I have proof of discrimination at work, this law firm is definitely going to help me. They seem like good people that would actually help. I was wrong. Over the past year I've been involved with the EEO and my case is moving at a snails pace. I hate to be doing this work alone, but I've been through tougher things. The response by them claims that I have the wrong law firm. That is completely false. This is the right law firm that I contacted. I contacted them twice. I did indeed speak to one of the lawyers over the phone. I also did indeed receive two "sorry we can't help you" type letters. I may not know the legal terminology or know how to write as eloquently as a lawyer does... but I'm definitely not stupid. I know what I experienced from you and it was insincere and dismissive. The fact that you're basically calling me a liar in your response only further solidifies my low rating for you. I've even passed by your office twice in person. I want to just say a small story of what has happened three years ago when I was coming out of my last employment. I called the offices of Spencer Johnson McCammon and left a message for Mrs. Marilynn Mika Spencer. After several days she got back to me and spoke to me for free for about one hour giving me advise. If there was an option for 0 stars I would've selected that. My experience with this law firm was horrible and extremely unprofessional on their end. They don't seem to care about people. I contacted them and was scheduled a day next week to call back and give my side of the case. After I called in and spoke with the representative on the phone, I called back a few days later to express that this was a very time sensitive matter which they took no action on. I was told to call about 7 days later to finally speak with the lawyer and was told the call needed to be rescheduled, and the representative said she would call me back within a few mins to tell me when that would be. After no call back for an hour I call back and she said I was rescheduled to speak with the lawyer later that afternoon. Lone behold when I call at the specified time the assistant tells me again that the lawyer isn't available and to reschedule. We rescheduled for the following Monday which I was sick and forgot to call. The lawyer nor assistance didn't even reach out to me for missing the call since. Extremely unprofessional, horrible service to those that are already in distress. I would strongly recommend to save your time and NOT use this firm. Mika Spencer probably saved my job last summer. She got my employer to back down when it looked like I was going to get terminated because of a physical disability. As a result, I am still on the job I have had for 12 years. Another lawyer had advised me "go ahead and let them fire you, and I'll represent you after you are fired." That didn't sound like a good idea to me! Glad I kept looking and found Spencer instead. Had to pay Spencer by the hour and it cost several thousand dollars, but this was well worth the cost. She understood that the most important thing was to keep my job. The other lawyer I talked to seemed to think it was no big deal to get fired if it made the case better. I haven't had any major problems with my employer after that, but if I do, I will definitely go back to Spencer for round 2! read more

Great attorney! I had a problem with my employer related to my disability, and it looked like I might lose my job. Two other lawyers I talked to told me to wait until I got fired. They didn't want to take my case because they said I didn't have any damages yet. Luckily, Mika picked up my case and steered the whole situation down the road of "reasonable accommodation" under the CA Fair Employment and Housing Act. It worked out great. I kept my job and the employer agreed to accommodations for my disability. My work situation has improved a lot. I'm grateful that Mika understood that I wasn't interested in getting a lot of money - the important thing to me was being able to keep my job.
