I went to the er with incredible painful and scary symptoms. I was in the exam room within 15 minutes. It took lots of tests and a few hours to figure out what the cause was. They were very professional and thorough, made a diagnosis, and explained to me why they made that particular diagnosis. I detected no attitude. I spent the night and got very good and caring attention from ALL the staff. I am now home, no pain, and mending nicely. I don't understand the bad reviews from a while ago because I have nothing to say but good. So much less of a frustration than 'big city' hospitals-right down to the free and convenient parking. read more

We brought our son to Johnson Memorial Hospital ER because he was having trouble breathing and not feeling well. The doctor who treated our son was pretentious and very pious. He didn't listen to him at all. The doctor came to the conclusion that our son had anxiety, and before he discharged him from the ER-they had a crisis counselor talk to him. Our son felt humiliated and very depressed because he was not heard. We left the hospital with the understanding that our son was diagnosed with anxiety. His health deteriorated over the next week until he collapsed. He was getting a test done in the lab at Manchester Memorial Hospital, and collapsed in the lab. He was diagnosed with a mass in his chest above the aortic valve and attached to his trachea. Johnson Memorial misdiagnosed our son. I will never, ever set foot in that Hospital again. The surgeon told us that the only thing Johnson Memorial Hospital is good for, is if you break a finger or something very small. The surgeon contacted Johnson Memorial to let them know what they did. I immediately got a call seconds later wanting to know how our son was. The woman I spoke with said she was so sorry and would call in a few days. She never did. Someone called a month later to speak with our son from Johnson and I told them he can't speak because he had a mass removed and part of his trachea was removed. I told her what the ER diagnosed him with and how humiliating the experience was for him. She apologized and said she would look into it- Never heard back from her, either.They had the audacity to send his bill to a collection agency and only sent us 2 bills and never a final notice. For years they have had a very bad reputation. Now we know why. We are contacting an attorney. read more

Overall our visit was OK. My daughter fell off a horse and had a wrist fracture. They only put a splint on it which doesn't really immobilize a fracture. We had a 6 hour drive back to Maine and were told to follow up with an orthopedist there. I asked for pain meds other than Tylenol and the ER doctor instantly turned into an opioid addiction counselor. He felt the need to share the statistics of opioid addiction with my 14 year old daughter. I feel as a parent of a minor I should make the decision about this sensitive subject matter and what I want my child to know. We come from a very small community in rural Maine and I didn't think the information the doctor shared with my daughter was age appropriate. I get that addiction is an epidemic in this country but giving me 6 Vicodin isn't going to cause my 14 year old to become an addict. I ended up only giving her 1/2 pill at a time and it made the drive more tolerable for her. And he gave us the wrong fracture diagnosis. she did have a fracture but not the fracture he explained to us. I would probably drive further next time and go to another hospital. read more

i brought my mom in to johnson memorial hospital emergency room the waiting is minimal the receptionist is a very nice lady very helpful the doctor was nice but the nurse had very bad manners, lack of attentiveness and had to ask for some water for my mom and it took forever i had to go ask her where it was so i could go get it. then radiology had no one waiting at that time and yet it took over an hour to bring her for exrays come to find out that due to my mothers age, falling, urinating more than normal and back pain the level of attentiveness was pretty crappy no urine was tested for an infection which would be the symptons she had also they prescribed a dosage of vicodine that medicare nor medicaid would cover but medicaid would of covered a generic time so thus even the prescription was written in error the only reason i bring her here is due to the fact that i live in enfield and overall crappy service the wait time is less than let's say htfd hospital and she did have 3 broken ribs not happy with this hospital at all read more
