Don't hire! The owner can't even maintain his own schedule let alone keep bigger commitments...like your pool resurfacing! Called to get a quote for a pool resurfacing. The owner, Mark called and gave me the whole schpeel on how he is on every site and blah blah blah blah. Mark made an appointment with me for a Sunday morning, his convenience and I obliged. Mark did not show up for the appointment. Mark did not call to say he was not going to show up. Mark did not call afterward to attempt to apologize or reschedule. Is this the type of owner you want on your job site??? Thanks for not showing, Sir! Saved by your unprofessionalism! I just want to tell everyone be very weary of this contractor. I contracted them to resurface my pool back in August. He offers a 25 year warranty on his service for a fiberglass resurfacing process to my pool. But what he doesn't tell you upfront is that this warranty only covers materials for 25 years. Labor is covered for only 1 year AND he won't stand behind this either. Materials probably cost all of 500 dollars. (not including the tile- probably another 2-300 dollars) The labor is where the cost becomes expensive should there be a need to redo the pool. I've looked into removing the fiberglass to fix the issue and it's upwards of 3500 dollars or more just to strip the surface. I didn't find out about the 1 year labor until he finished the job and gave me the warranty document. So, I contacted them 1 month ago regarding what appears to be rust coming through the fiberglass. I asked for assistance on how to resolve the issue. The exact email is as follows: "You refinished my pool about 8 months ago in August. I have a couple of spots in the pool where it appears to have rust coming through the finish. I've taken the best pics I could short of draining the water. What needs to be done to resolve this?" Well let me tell you, the way this was handled was absolutely unacceptable. He called me to tell me what he thought it was and how I could resolve it. But became unnecessarily agitated and combative explaining that its not covered under warranty and he didn't build the pool. So if it was rust he wasn't going to fix it. He said if it had visible areas of rust coming through the marcite he would have cored and drilled the spot to remove it and that he saw nothing like this. I told him I had pictures of the rust before he ever laid the first layer of adhesion promoter or whatever the first surface layer was. My problem isn't with the resurface as I still don't know if it is some kind of stain that can be cleaned or if it actually is rust coming through. My problem is that as a business owner/operator, there was no reason to become defensive and argumentative over these questions and the adimacy of not fixing it that it "Wasn't his problem". This is not what I expected when I contracted them. And his exact word were that "You can sue me but I'm not fixing it if it's rust because I didn't build your pool.". GREAT words of insight. PLEASE if you thinking of using this contractor, DON'T. Because if this is rust from the rebarb underneath the surface coming through, this will require thousands of dollars of repair work. And after having already paid 6500 dollars for this work, it's not an expense I can take. But to deny any liability for this when that didn't even come up is a sure sign that he knows he didn't complete the job properly. There should have never been any talk about not fixing this until it was determined if it was a rust issue. I have never dealt with such animosity trying to ask for assistance in determining what it is. And considering that I haven't tried his remedy for what he is presuming the orange spotting to be, he was very definitive over not fixing a rust issue if it turns out to be rust. This tells me he is already aware that this IS what the problem is. And I will have to resort to disputing the charges through my credit card company or suing them in court. Let's hope its not rust and his remedy is accurate for what he's saying it could possibly be. We'll know in a few days when I receive the chemical he referred me to. I will update this post then. I've attached a picture of the pool. There were 3 spots that I felt should have been drilled out and repaired. 2 are circled and the arrow points to a spot out of view. Our pool, built in the 70s, was a mess. The pitted, plaster base had been painted by the previous owner rather than having it refinished. Since 2016 when we bought the house, we had to make repairs and repaint the pool twice! Knowing it would have to be repainted or redone again was the impetus to call Johnson Pool. Marc answered my original call promptly and was out to the house within 48 hours. Exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, Marc explained the entire process from emptying the pool to refilling after the job was done. Marc stayed in touch through the waiting period due to so many folks choosing Johnson Pool. The cap and tile sample was sent promptly once we chose from the vast variety of colors and styles. When the crew arrived we were impressed with their "get it done right" attitude. As promised (and with the help of Mother Nature) our pool was ready to refill after 5 days work. The only reason for five days was the requirement to let the repairs and fiberglass set. Each day the crew arrived on time, got that day's work done, and left the property in great shape. We were very impressed with their work ethic. Marc called each day to keep us up to date. When the pool needed nothing more than refilling, it was like having a brand new pool installed. He resurfaced our pool five years ago. All was going well until we had a problem. He blamed it on the chlorine not being in balance and said that voided the warranty. We had multiple professional opinions and was told that every time the chlorine could not do this to the pool. Finally got someone out to fix it and we were shocked at what a poor, thin coated job Johnson Pool Resurfacing did. Do not use them!!! read more

I have my pool serviced by a professional pool service. You can imagine my dismay when I had company over and my friends daughter wanted to go for a swim and then screamed because her skin was burning and itching. I called the pool service to come check my water. The came back with some jargon, long story short, I needed my pool resurfaced. I had received several quotes that I could not afford. I was literally in tears. Finally a gentleman from a competing company that had come out to give me a quote told me about Mr. Johnson and his affordable resurfacing and his guarantee. Just had our fiberglass pool resurfaced by this company about a week ago. You cannot find any company to repair fiberglass pools in Hernando County. I called around out of town and got quotes and did my due diligence research and met with Marc. He is very professional and personable and definitely made us feel secure that he takes no short cuts and does a long lasting (25 year warranty is awesome!) and beautiful repairs on our pool. Marc, Brendon and Colby was the crew on our pool and I cannot say enough about how sweet, considerate, professional and CLEAN these guys were!
