rust stains visible at time of resurfacing that he claims weren't visible when he resurfaced my pool.

I just want to tell everyone be very weary of this contractor. I contracted them to resurface my pool back in August. He offers a 25 year warranty on his service for a fiberglass resurfacing process to my pool. But what he doesn't tell you upfront is that this warranty only covers materials for 25 years. Labor is covered for only 1 year AND he won't stand behind this either. Materials probably cost all of 500 dollars. (not including the tile- probably another 2-300 dollars) The labor is where the cost becomes expensive should there be a need to redo the pool. I've looked into removing the fiberglass to fix the issue and it's upwards of 3500 dollars or more just to strip the surface. I didn't find out about the 1 year labor until he finished the job and gave me the warranty document. So, I contacted them 1 month ago regarding what appears to be rust coming through the fiberglass. I asked for assistance on how to resolve the issue. The exact email is as follows: "You refinished my pool about 8 months ago in August. I have a couple of spots in the pool where it appears to have rust coming through the finish. I've taken the best pics I could short of draining the water. What needs to be done to resolve this?" Well let me tell you, the way this was handled was absolutely unacceptable. He called me to tell me what he thought it was and how I could resolve it. But became unnecessarily agitated and combative explaining that its not covered under warranty and he didn't build the pool. So if it was rust he wasn't going to fix it. He said if it had visible areas of rust coming through the marcite he would have cored and drilled the spot to remove it and that he saw nothing like this. I told him I had pictures of the rust before he ever laid the first layer of adhesion promoter or whatever the first surface layer was. My problem isn't with the resurface as I still don't know if it is some kind of stain that can be cleaned or if it actually is rust coming through. My problem is that as a business owner/operator, there was no reason to become defensive and argumentative over these questions and the adimacy of not fixing it that it "Wasn't his problem". This is not what I expected when I contracted them. And his exact word were that "You can sue me but I'm not fixing it if it's rust because I didn't build your pool.". GREAT words of insight. PLEASE if you thinking of using this contractor, DON'T. Because if this is rust from the rebarb underneath the surface coming through, this will require thousands of dollars of repair work. And after having already paid 6500 dollars for this work, it's not an expense I can take. But to deny any liability for this when that didn't even come up is a sure sign that he knows he didn't complete the job properly. There should have never been any talk about not fixing this until it was determined if it was a rust issue. I have never dealt with such animosity trying to ask for assistance in determining what it is. And considering that I haven't tried his remedy for what he is presuming the orange spotting to be, he was very definitive over not fixing a rust issue if it turns out to be rust. This tells me he is already aware that this IS what the problem is. And I will have to resort to disputing the charges through my credit card company or suing them in court. Let's hope its not rust and his remedy is accurate for what he's saying it could possibly be. We'll know in a few days when I receive the chemical he referred me to. I will update this post then. I've attached a picture of the pool. There were 3 spots that I felt should have been drilled out and repaired. 2 are circled and the arrow points to a spot out of view. These are where the spots are showing up.

Most of all on a Tuesday night at 7:49pm the owner is texting me to make sure everything was ok. And then responding to me next day was fantastic. Felt like I was actually important. Cara the owner, was very gracious and advised she would have Ben, her husband, come out and look at the spa pump. Ben came and looked at the pump and felt confident it could be repaired. He ordered the necessary parts and indicated he would let us know when it came in. In the meantime, we mentioned to the pool builder doing the resurfacing that we had contacted Dutchcraft Services to repair the pump. Marty, from US Pools without us asking, stated that Ben does great work and he also recommended them. How cool was that? Ben completed the work. we had a hiccup, not because of anything Ben had done wrong, but the company putting the pebble sheen had plugged the spa to avoid material going into the pipe. They unplugged it and the spa pump works like a charm!! The best part, Ben's price was very reasonable! We are sooo happy with it and we are using the spa more than we ever have! I love this family owned business, they care and are meticulous with their work. Even though I hope we don't have another broken pump, it is reassuring to know Dutchcraft does great work and they are trustworthy and I can contact them should we ever need.. David and Denise

Do not hire this company, they will take your money and not finish your pool. I urge you if you're…read morea victim of this company please contact me directly so we can band together and ensure Jose and the company are held accountable. I'm in contact with many other victims, working with government agencies and was also on channel 10 news. Will post link story at end of review. Jose will front load the contract under the guise of being a small company and needing the money upfront. They will start your pool and never finish. Jose will tell you lie after lie to string you along. He doesn't even have his own license, he works under the license of a John Whyte or White (can't recall) Per contract he's done $20k of work but has $60k of our money. He's admitted he has a cash flow problem which means he took our money and didn't spend it on our pool build. Per contract we owe them $13.8K and he claims he can finish the pool for that amount but I have to buy the equipment myself and hire other people to finish the job. See pictures, I have a concrete shell and that's it. Below is link to news story and pictures is current pool condition. https://www.wtsp.com/video/news/investigations/10-investigates/67-ceb77142-cb46-4405-bee9-ea97d8231503

Stay far away from this company. I have never posted a bad…read morereview but I feel the need to warn everyone about this terrible company since our experience has been such a nightmare. We were told our pool would take 6-9 months because of Covid and all of the supply chain issues. We were fine with this even though our last custom home build only took 9 months. We are now in month 15 with no end in site because Jose the owner is so dishonest and incompetent. He lies to us continuously. In fact as I type this out, they were supposedly finishing our pool project today. The amount of work left to do for that to be a reality is ridiculous. This is just another one of the MANY lies we've been told. When Jose finally sends someone to complete a small portion of one project, they show up late afternoon and spend about an hour or two doing one little thing so Jose can claim work is getting done. This is after you wait week after week with nothing getting done and no one showing up when promised. Once they finally complete a portion of a project, the work typically has to be redone because it's been done so poorly. The amount of rework that they have had to do on our project is too much to type out. I don't imagine he will stay in business because he's so dishonest & has no clue how operate his business. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere! Update since my original review... the pool was finally finished. We have spent thousands to have the pavers redone. New company has said they've never seen such horrible work before. Jose should be shut down.
