She is the most compassionate person and her knowledge of both traditional and alternative medications and solutions for your pet...is astounding. She actually unraveled a very curious problem with my last dog that no other vet managed to by looking at the long term test results instead of just saying my Beatuiful Angel was within the normal range...Normal yes, but continuously declining. I would be using her now for my new dog's care, but I live in Santa Fe and she is in Taos...way too far away. But you could not find a better veteranarian or person in the whole world. Dr. Johnson is awesome! Our dog needed to be seen for urinary incontinence and related issues while we were visiting Taos, and Dr. Johnson was recommended to us by a friend who lives in Taos. The care we received from Dr. Johnson was exceptional, he was thorough and really spent time discussing the problem and possible causes, and was very thoughtful. So much better than any vet I've been to in the big city in which I live. If all "country vets" are like Dr. Johnson then I want to move to the country. :) read more

Wouldn't go again. He had no rapport with my dog. Asked that he be muzzled when he has never been muzzled. Asked for an ear check and he didn't even use a scope, just looked in his ear and said they look fine. Not impressed at all. read more

This is not a review of the Veterinarian as I never got the chance to meet with him... Being new to the Taos area I called several different veterinary clinics to make an appointment for a very ill barn cat who resides on the property I have recently rented. Due to the lack of kindness and empathy by many of the community concerning feral cats they have been left to their own survival instincts. If they are inconvenient they are either killed inhumanely or relocated to become someone else's problem. This cat has never been neutered which has caused him to constantly fight with the other un-neutered male cats, who roam this area searching for un-spayed female cats, breeding endlessly because of their uncontrollable biological urges. I came across him suffering with a purulent wound on his neck. I immediately called the numbers I found on-line hoping to find a compassionate response for this poor creature. Your staff was obviously busy when I called your office so as commanded by your message machine I left a request to make an appointment to have the wound seen and to schedule to have him neutered. I was told my call would be returned. To no avail! The wound is now badly infected and the cat is very ill. I drained the abscess as best I could and applied topical antibiotics to the area. I kept him hydrated and fed but he needs professional help I cannot give him. Due to him being semi-feral I need an appointed time to be able to catch him. His appearance on the property is erratic. He usually appears very late into the evening. The earliest appointment I could get from another clinic is 2 weeks away! I have a commitment out of town and have to leave this weekend. No one else here cares about this poor creature and will not take any responsibility for him. Please do not say on your telephone message that someone will call back if your receptionist does not intend to do so, or hire a person who at least has some level of compassion and integrity...I fear this cat will die due totally to lack of human compassion. read more
