A shop out of Springfield IL was recommended to us. That company turned our burgundy sofas purple! (Barney the dinosaur purple - and I'm not exaggerating.) That company would not make it right! They wanted MORE money to complete the job they were hired to do in the first place. OUR EXPERIENCE We turned to SHOE BIZ, and wow what a difference! Shoe Biz was nice, professional, friendly, thorough, did VERY HIGH QUALITY work and was willing to stand behind their work!! When they saw the state of our sofas they assured me they could fix them - and they did! Our sofas haven't looked like this in YEARS - they look brand new!! - NO KIDDING! OK, but not thrilled since it looks bad. I do't wear these boots too often since I have several pairs. i just noticed they also scraped the leather with the stitcher on the same boot. The leather is actually a little thinner now in this spot. The scrape runs parallel to the welt in an area where normal wear would not cause the scrape. In addition, the scrape shows up in a picture I took immediately after the resole. It appears they covered up the scrape with brown polish or another shoe product. They did not mention any of the issues when the boots were picked up by a family member that lives near Peoria. Do not recommend, and I will not use them again.

When I asked REI about repairing it (I bought it a while back, when REI guaranteed everything for eternity), the customer service rep told me they didn't repair anymore, didn't sell the replacement for the top part, and I should take it to Windy Pass. Windy Pass told me they'd repair it for $65, which was about a third the price of the pack. I took it to Warrick, who cheerfully sewed it for a fraction of the price. No shipping either. When I was a kid, my mom would offer up $20 to the salesperson who could find a pair of shoes that fit, didn't hurt my feet, and that I liked. So when I got new orthotic insoles recently, I was prepared for more of the same. I decided to give Heel to Toe a try because I saw that they also do orthotics, so I figured if anyone could help, it would be these folks. They did not disappoint! While I didn't find anything in the store that day, the staff was so incredibly helpful I knew I had to buy from them somehow. They took the time to measure my feet (turns out they're wider than I thought), talk to me about my issues and what I wanted, look in the back for overlooked shoes, and then finally brought me manufacturer catalogues so I could order them. They knew which shoes would be likely to work and which wouldn't, which saved me a ton of time and frustration. I ended up buying two pairs of boots, and they both still look and feel amazing.
