Ummm... HOW DOES THIS PLACE NOT HAVE ANY REVIEWS!? First of all, the place is split into two…read moredifferent buildings based upon what you're looking for. One half has all of their fresh seafood while the other has pork/beef and poultry. The shops themselves aren't all that fancy... But I didn't expect them to be. They're small, clean and cramped full of deliciousness. Whole Foods snobs, beware. My hubby and I lingered in the side of the store with the other meats (those smoked ham hawks though... DROOL!) and frozen goods for a minute looking for the fish before someone directed us to the other building (lol) aaaand there, my friend, is where all the magic was happening. We were greeted by a really cool guy (he didn't speak english too well, but I certainly don't give a sh*t) arranging fresh shrimp over ice and we were instantly amazed. The prices were flippin unreal! 8.99 a lb for jumbo head on shrimp, 10.99 for snow crab legs... It was almost to good to be true. AND THEN IT GOT BETTER! While the hubs shopped for dinner, I went ahead and started looking through the cold case for something to munch on. It was lunch time and I was starvin'. That's when the guy behind the counter stopped me and pointed to some signs on the walls... FRESH, MADE TO ORDER HOT FOOD COMBOS?! I was overwhelmed with choices so he said he would make me something yummy and I mean... Why not trust your fish guy? He grabbed two filets of red snapper off the ice and walked back into his kitchen. A few minutes later, he came back with a styrofoam to-go box full of crispy golden fish and fresh cut fries. SWEET LORD IT WAS SO GOOD! 1 lb of fried snapper, 1 lb of hand cut fries + 3 hush puppies, all for $8.99!? Be still, my heart. It was such a hefty portion that my man and I ended up sharing it. We got out of there with a 1lb filet of grouper, half a pound of head on shrimp, a pound of crab and my generous 2 filet lunch for only $33! What a complete steal! I can't even get farm raised frozen fish at Publix for those prices! Other than the Starfish Co, so far this is the only place we will be going for our fresh seafood. Excellent quality meats, excellent service.

I was there for the wine, I might have bought some potato salad. You step off the burning Sarasota asphalt into a cool, carpeted room that smells like cold cut steaks, smoked bacon fat, and the damp oak of expensive wine barrels. It's quiet inside, the kind of quiet that lets a man hear his own thoughts, whether he wants to or not, typically I fo not care to hear the committee as I so affectionately refer to the voices. On one side, you've got cold glass cases packed with raw red beef, house made sausage, and thick-cut slab bacon. On the other side, row after row of Cabernet and Pinot sit under green lamps, lined up on blonde wood racks like a legion of dark bottles ready to take the edge off a hot Florida evening. Up in the back room, behind a pair of doors under a small, glittering chandelier, they keep the high-dollar stuff Opus, Ridge, Cabernets that costs more than a ome poor slobs week's wages. High-end grapes waiting on a wooden barrel for somebody with too much money in his pocket. It's half butcher shop, half high class cellar, all clean carpet and quiet business. You can pick out a prime ribeye, grab a bottle of deep red to drown the heat, and head back out to the parking lot before the sun burns through your shirt. A solid joint. Get your meat, grab your wine, and get out into the shade.
