Love Love Love! Reminds me of my old neighborhood butcher back in Chicago that I would go to multiple times a week with my Grandmother. Only thing missing was the sawdust on the floor. Been wanting to come here for sometime and finally craved out the time to do it. Ordered the Bratwurst minus the kraut (doesn't like me) on a nice crunchy roll. This is a really great family-owned and run deli! We picked up sandwiches here-and got carried away and got a bunch of deli stuff as well! We came home with epic chicken salad-they we're kind enough to let us try it, so we KNEW how good it was!! We also got ham salad and some cheese platters-and some DELICIOUS DESSERTS too! We got a shepherds pie from the to-go case-that is for dinner tonight! Next time we are up there, we will be planning to shop (and enjoy their fabulous food) there again! Geier's Sausage Kitchen is truly great and a hidden gem! This deli offers lots of cuts of raw meat, as well as deli meat, salads, cheese, prepared foods and prepared sandwiches. There are also many products for Germany and Europe in general such as shelf stable foods (spaetzle, etc.) , chocolates, bread, imported cheese (including obscure ones from Greece), etc. The staff has been really kind and courteous on the visits I have made there. We ordered a prime rib roast for Christmas and it was excellent. They also had special order Christmas gooses , ham, and Beef Wellington for sale in addition to prepared holiday meal plates. My family loves the deli lunch meat and cheese and really any cut of meat they have gotten. We have also found hard to find German made items here. Geier's is family owned and has seemingly been around for years and generations. It's located right off S. Tamiami Tr./US 41 but if you blink you might miss it! Great place for real German food. They have both a grocery store type section and a deli area. They also cater, and can plan about anything. The food is authentic German (we lived in Germany for 4 years) and delicious. And the big treat for me was they had one of my favorite beers in bottles - Bamberg Rauchbier - a smoked beer from a town that was perhaps 30 miles north of where we lived in Germany. Saturdays has outdoor cooked to order brats, baurenwurst and others for $3!! It's a MUST if you're a brat/sausage aficionado!!! They definitely do it right!! Parking is tight on busy days but manageable. Staff is very friendly! We make the trip from Tampa just to stock up! We ordered an oven ready turkey from this spot and it was a 10/10! In fact, it was one of the better turkeys we had in years. Sure, you can go to Popeyes but these turkeys are never frozen and super easy to cook. The sides were also delicious. We got a few casseroles and the portions were spot on. Why 5 stars? Because you've never Sausage a place!!! Ok, besides the corny joke, this place is seriously awesome. So much meat, so many sausages, it is awesome! In addition they have a great selection of German goods from all around Germany...cookies, mixes for your German baking/cooking needs, etc. I went in with my neighbor from Sweden a couple days before Christmas. He had ordered a special "Swedish Ham" that he custom ordered which I thought was pretty cool. The whole butcher area of this place impressed me. They left me enough time to browse but also helped out along the way. From living in Germany a few years back I had asked about the 'Weisswurst'. Of course they had it and I bought some! It was awesome later on grilled up for dinner. I also purchased some cheeses they had and some Stollen bread. You could spend hours in here if you could. So many things to look at. In addition to meats and cheeses, they also have a decent German Beer selection. From the German music when entering, to the helpful staff, this place is worth the trip, in the area, or just live right in Sarasota. I didn't get a chance to try eating sandwiches here that they also make, but I might have to try next time. read more

Looking for lunch I had time to kill while waiting for my car to be repaired up the road, so I stopped in at Geier's. I've never been sure whether they were strictly a meat market or if they also made sandwiches. Turns out they are both, as well as sell groceries. The meat market part is very prominent when you walk in, but over in the back right corner is a grill where they can make you a sandwich. I heard their Chopped Chuck Sub was very good, so that's what I ordered. It smelled inviting as it was cooking on the grill and before long I had my lunch. They do not have seating inside but there are a few tables outside shaded by umbrellas. I settled in to enjoy my sandwich. My Chopped Chuck Sub was not as good as I expected. I suppose I was mentally comparing it to a Philly Cheesesteak, and maybe that was not fair. I thought the sandwich bland and I knew it would be better if I just got up, went back inside, and found some salt. But I didn't, I was too settled in. I finished my sandwich and headed back to wait for my car. Geiers is one of the most highly rated places around, mainly based on the meat market. While I would normally give this visit a 4, I also do not want to pull down their excellent rating, mainly from what must be an outstanding meat market. read more

First off I'm of German heritage....we have a high standard. But don't let the name fool you, this is much more than a sausage kitchen! It is a gourmet market, it is an international market, it is a meat market, with spotless presentation, extremely high quality, it is a deli with fantastic sandwiches, it is a go to store for a charcuterie board that would rival anything and a five star restaurant. Today we purchased from Nikita her valentine Surf and Turf ready to prepare Package, it consisted of one of the best tenderloins I've ever seen in my life, two amazing crabcakes, au gratin, potatoes, asparagus, even dessert and wine, is one of the best meals I've ever had. So the Saturday before Thanksgiving I call to reserve a Turkey Breast, preferably boneless, but optional. I was told, and I quote, "No, you cannot order." Then, let me let you talk to the butcher. The associate them got back on the line and said , " Ma'am, no you cannot." So I get there are limitations during COVID, and I strive to support local business, but this definitive answer as to what I can and cannot do without options, doesn't come across as helpful in the least. This review isn't't indicative of quality, as everything I've ordered in the past has been top class, but the service aspect is lacking. Sorry, Geiers. No more business from me. Oh oh oh.. we spent whole October in Sarasota. My dearest boy was having enough of shrimps and fish in one moment so I came across this amazing shop. It is the best German store I have visited in US. We were here few times, and on our way home I bought a mini cooler bag to keep my cold cuts fresh till Chicago:) I wanted to order some things for Christmas from smoked meat selection but I had enough since I freezed something. Shop has it all. Hospitality, quality and great energy. They make their own sausages and cured meats. They have some signature cakes. Fresh bread and pretzels they have it all. It will be probably the best hot dog you had if you go here and try one. I found here some soft drinks from Germany I didn't see for 6+ years. I was amazed. I like to go here every once in a while, but I can't recommend it. It is a total ripoff. I keep going for some nice treats that I can't find in any other store. Prices are absurd, especially on those items that they make, which they use crappy toxic unhealthy ingredients like nitrates etc. I guess they don't make enough money to use salt in their deli.... Only people who make low quality, low flavor, and want funky flavor to stay away the longest use nitrates instead of salt. read more

Geiers Sausage Kitchen is a small German deli located on the Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. This not-so-hidden gem has been serving some of the finest European sausages since the 80s. We randomly stopped in this deli with my in-laws and were overwhelmed by the heavenly smell of cured meats and all of the German and European treats that are crammed in every nook and cranny of the store. Geirs offers every type of sausage you can imagine, more than a dozen types of German mustards, European candies, cookies and much more. During our visit we purchased soft pretzels, spicy German mustard, organic chicken thighs, and German chocolates. Been spoiled by NY's finest but for Sarasota, Florida to have a German eatery in its town is great. I bought a smoked chorizo sausage and regular sausage ($1.44 each) then went to the deli side to order from their menu. Had to bbq riblets with two sides of potato chips and mixed veggies ($5.99), pork tenderloin with double mixed veggies ($5.99), and one of each of the sausages bedded atop sauerkraut ($1.99). I picked up a couple sweets from the grocery store side, too. The only downside is that they were seeking the red siracha bottles on their shelves and they were already spoiled (in color and material). I don't know who their supplier is for that but they should really get it checked out before putting that kind of stuff on the shelf to sell. I've waited a long time to write a review of Geiers. My grandparents both worked there for many years before they retired and my grandfather passed. It's always emotional to visit, but in a good way. Every time I'm in Sarasota I make it a point to stop in to pick up some treats and enjoy the smell of a traditional butcher shop with smoked meats. They carry a HUGE variety of products that are difficult to find anywhere else in the states. My husband is German so it's great to pick-up some of his favorites as well. They carry some of the freshest meats and cold cuts available. Their smoked meats are possibly some of the greatest in the world. If you are a fan of beef jerky I forewarn you that Geiers Beef Jerky will ruin all other jerky for you. It's so fresh and amazing that anything else tastes like artificial garbage. I know it sounds mean, but seriously once you've tried it you'll understand. They have a great deli counter where you can get a big sandwich and a griddle where you can order a sausage cooked up fresh to order. They have a never ending supply of German cookies and candies available to suit just about any preference. If you are ever in the area i strongly encourage you to stop into Geiers. It truly is a timeless place with amazing products. You will NOT regret it. read more

I travel to Wisconsin frequently and love my favorite meat shops, they are a world onto their own. So, recently, when I was introduced to this place you can imagine how my heart skipped a beat to find such an amazing find. Yes, it is nice to find a place which is literally wall to wall meat. I am a big fan of their sausage packs and think they make a great snack. Their kitchen is small but the lady who runs the food counter is a great short order chef and makes a mean omelette on a bagel with a burger and cheese for breakfast. Their service was not so good. This may just be me and my experience and I hope it was. It was very hard to get someone to wait on me and when I took four quite heavy bottles of vinegar to the checkout counter, left them on the counter and continued shopping because I'm recovering from back surgery and could not carry heavy items in their hand baskets. When return to check out with several other smaller items I was very rudely told to never leave items on the counter but to carry them in their baskets. What a find! We went to order sandwiches, however they were out of the sub rolls and marbled rye. Told us it might cost more to put on other bread. Seriously? Nonetheless, we ordered wheat for our NY corned beef sandwiches, and they were delicious. Not sure it was really a 1/2 lb. of meat as advertised. Also ordered two sub sandwiches to go. I think we liked them better. Purchased noodles, some jared products, sausages, corned beef, and pork chops. Our bill was $124.94. We'll be anxious to try the meats in the next week or two, might revise this review. However for now, it's a thumbs up place, and we'll definitely be going back. Getting four stars today, as they were out of two breads, and it took 20 min. to make four sandwiches. I wouldn't recommend going in season, as I'm confident you'll have a much longer wait, let along finding a parking space in the very small lot. Staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. I didn't bother posting pics of the deli counter, as there are already ample. This is our NY reuben, served on wheat. It was very good, but again, I don't believe there was 1/2 lb. of corned beef. A German "metzgerei" (butcher shop) with an absolute wonder assortment of meats. The place has a little bit of everything. German sauces, spices, candies, chocolates, cheeses, beer, wine, etc. They bake bread every day. Get the pretzel rolls - delicious. They also have a grill in the back offering authentic German dishes. The staff are very friendly and efficient. Speaking to one of the employees at the grill, she told us of how well the owners treated them - just like family and that she loved working there.
