This is a really great family-owned and run deli! We picked up sandwiches here-and got carried away and got a bunch of deli stuff as well! We came home with epic chicken salad-they we're kind enough to let us try it, so we KNEW how good it was!! We also got ham salad and some cheese platters-and some DELICIOUS DESSERTS too! We got a shepherds pie from the to-go case-that is for dinner tonight! Next time we are up there, we will be planning to shop (and enjoy their fabulous food) there again! Thanks to fellow yelp community! We would have NEVER tried this business!!

Geier's Sausage Kitchen is truly great and a hidden gem! This deli offers lots of cuts of raw meat, as well as deli meat, salads, cheese, prepared foods and prepared sandwiches. There are also many products for Germany and Europe in general such as shelf stable foods (spaetzle, etc.) , chocolates, bread, imported cheese (including obscure ones from Greece), etc. The staff has been really kind and courteous on the visits I have made there. We ordered a prime rib roast for Christmas and it was excellent. They also had special order Christmas gooses , ham, and Beef Wellington for sale in addition to prepared holiday meal plates. My family loves the deli lunch meat and cheese and really any cut of meat they have gotten. We have also found hard to find German made items here. Geier's is family owned and has seemingly been around for years and generations. It's located right off S. Tamiami Tr./US 41 but if you blink you might miss it! Looks for the large rectangular yellow sign. We will be back again and again!

Great place for real German food. They have both a grocery store type section and a deli area. They also cater, and can plan about anything. The food is authentic German (we lived in Germany for 4 years) and delicious. And the big treat for me was they had one of my favorite beers in bottles - Bamberg Rauchbier - a smoked beer from a town that was perhaps 30 miles north of where we lived in Germany. Everything is delicious there!

Why 5 stars? Because you've never Sausage a place!!! Ok, besides the corny joke, this place is seriously awesome. So much meat, so many sausages, it is awesome! In addition they have a great selection of German goods from all around Germany...cookies, mixes for your German baking/cooking needs, etc. I went in with my neighbor from Sweden a couple days before Christmas. He had ordered a special "Swedish Ham" that he custom ordered which I thought was pretty cool. The whole butcher area of this place impressed me. They left me enough time to browse but also helped out along the way. From living in Germany a few years back I had asked about the 'Weisswurst'. Of course they had it and I bought some! It was awesome later on grilled up for dinner. I also purchased some cheeses they had and some Stollen bread. You could spend hours in here if you could. So many things to look at. In addition to meats and cheeses, they also have a decent German Beer selection. From the German music when entering, to the helpful staff, this place is worth the trip, in the area, or just live right in Sarasota. I didn't get a chance to try eating sandwiches here that they also make, but I might have to try next time.

Sandwich of the special. Geier's signature sub $7.99 so worth it!'

Very hard to not buy everything I'm making the store! Well worth visiting even if out of the way of your travels

Looking for lunch I had time to kill while waiting for my car to be repaired up the road, so I stopped in at Geier's. I've never been sure whether they were strictly a meat market or if they also made sandwiches. Turns out they are both, as well as sell groceries. The meat market part is very prominent when you walk in, but over in the back right corner is a grill where they can make you a sandwich. I heard their Chopped Chuck Sub was very good, so that's what I ordered. It smelled inviting as it was cooking on the grill and before long I had my lunch. They do not have seating inside but there are a few tables outside shaded by umbrellas. I settled in to enjoy my sandwich. My Chopped Chuck Sub was not as good as I expected. I suppose I was mentally comparing it to a Philly Cheesesteak, and maybe that was not fair. I thought the sandwich bland and I knew it would be better if I just got up, went back inside, and found some salt. But I didn't, I was too settled in. I finished my sandwich and headed back to wait for my car. Geiers is one of the most highly rated places around, mainly based on the meat market. While I would normally give this visit a 4, I also do not want to pull down their excellent rating, mainly from what must be an outstanding meat market.

Great "old world" meats! Love the selection of "aufscchnitt" and various roasts like porchetta.

I ordered the brisket plate with collard greens and mac and cheese. The brisket itself had good flavor, but unfortunately, a noticeable portion of the half-pound serving was fat that was essentially inedible -- probably around an eighth of a pound. The sides were tasty, but the portions felt a little small. My wife ordered the two-meat platter with turkey and sausage, along with potato salad and coleslaw. The turkey was good, but the sausage was a little bland. The surprise highlight of the meal was actually the jalapeño poppers we ordered to start. They were excellent and probably my favorite thing we had. Overall, it was a good experience with a nice atmosphere, good service, and some solid food. There were a few misses, but nothing that would keep us from coming back. I'd likely return, although I'd probably try something different next time.

One half has all of their fresh seafood while the other has pork/beef and poultry. The shops themselves aren't all that fancy... But I didn't expect them to be. They're small, clean and cramped full of deliciousness. Whole Foods snobs, beware. My hubby and I lingered in the side of the store with the other meats (those smoked ham hawks though... DROOL!) and frozen goods for a minute looking for the fish before someone directed us to the other building (lol) aaaand there, my friend, is where all the magic was happening. We were greeted by a really cool guy (he didn't speak english too well, but I certainly don't give a sh*t) arranging fresh shrimp over ice and we were instantly amazed. The prices were flippin unreal! 8.99 a lb for jumbo head on shrimp, 10.99 for snow crab legs... It was almost to good to be true. AND THEN IT GOT BETTER! While the hubs shopped for dinner, I went ahead and started looking through the cold case for something to munch on. It was lunch time and I was starvin'. That's when the guy behind the counter stopped me and pointed to some signs on the walls... FRESH, MADE TO ORDER HOT FOOD COMBOS?! I was overwhelmed with choices so he said he would make me something yummy and I mean... Why not trust your fish guy? He grabbed two filets of red snapper off the ice and walked back into his kitchen. A few minutes later, he came back with a styrofoam to-go box full of crispy golden fish and fresh cut fries. SWEET LORD IT WAS SO GOOD! 1 lb of fried snapper, 1 lb of hand cut fries + 3 hush puppies, all for $8.99!? Be still, my heart. It was such a hefty portion that my man and I ended up sharing it. We got out of there with a 1lb filet of grouper, half a pound of head on shrimp, a pound of crab and my generous 2 filet lunch for only $33! What a complete steal! I can't even get farm raised frozen fish at Publix for those prices! Other than the Starfish Co, so far this is the only place we will be going for our fresh seafood. Excellent quality meats, excellent service.
