Jon is easily the best mortgage broker that we have ever worked with. From our first interaction with him while we were considering other brokers (he won us over with his current, easy to understand document upload tools) to our very last minute closing issues, he was attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. His advice was solid and thoughtful. In a very competitive housing market he was almost insanely reliably responsive, much more so than it is fair to expect. In the house we ultimately won, we asked for an updated approval letter well after the close of the workday and, still received it that night. Jon is a crazy smart, super kind, uber patient guy. Like so many people, we bought our Seattle home at the height of the bubble. Our rate wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't nearly as good as everyone else we knew. I see a flag that Mr. Wagher responds in about one hour. In my case, it was the next day. But that would have been OK, if not for what followed. After a brief telephone convo, I offered to send an Assets/Liabilities spreadsheet to help him choose the best product to refi one of my rentals that had a 1st and a HELOC. Together those loans added up to less than half the property's zillow value. Good ratio, in other words. No response. So I followed up that evening to verify he'd rec'd this confidential info, and he responded that he'd work on it "tomorrow." That email exchange was July 19. It is now July 26, and I have had no contact from Mr. Wagher. I follow the rule when choosing contractors "If you can't make the sale, you don't get the job." UPDATE 07/27/17: Mr. Wagher emailed today with an apology for his lack of follow-through, explaining he wasn't realistic about his workload. He supplied a chart to compare options and wrote a narrative with cogent questions about our long-term strategy. We had already contacted another lender, though. read more

I've done two loans in the last year with Jon, and both of the experiences were really good. We refinanced, and it went really smoothly- much better than previous experiences refinancing. Jon works very closely with the underwriters, so he has a lot of ability to move the process along and address underwriting concerns quickly as they arise. In all, it was much smoother and easier than or previous experiences refinancing. Recently, we also bought a much larger home and used Jon for that one also. Our situation was not uncomplicated because we were keeping our old house as a rental, and we were working with a real estate broker that worked on a reduced commission (which complicates matters apparently), but the whole transaction went through without a hitch. He gave me really good rates on both of the loans, he knew his stuff, and he handled issues promptly as they arose (I've found this is the biggest problem dealing with large lenders- there's always some minor issue, and nobody tells you, so the loan just sits there waiting for someone to do something.) In all, very happy with the service, and he's also just a really nice guy. Would recommend. read more
