I have been dealing with eye doctors for last 22 years and saw about dozen of them or more…read more Research of eye doctors on line and from multiple sources led me to make appointment with Doctor Ahuja. My reason for notorious search for the right doctor is very simple. Modern medicine practices are about money and continuous treatment instead of cure. Visits to doctors reminds me assembly line with 5 minutes time per part-patient. Yes sometimes there is no cure and continuous treatment is necessary and in such case you have to have a doctor who knows his field who will spend with you more than 5 minutes and take everything you have to say about your condition into consideration to make proper diagnosis and prescribe effective treatment. .After several visits to Dr Ahuja I concluded that he is the doctor whom I should visit 22 years ago and I am positive that half of my eye problems would likely never happen because I concluded as well that half of my problems were created by..........eye doctors. Dr Ahuja dedicates to you as much time as needed if it's 15 minutes or an hour. He has ability and patience to explain your problems advise and prescribe proper treatment if needed, He will answer all your question in language that you will understand. Even Though I am still seeing different eye specialists I still want to know what dr Ahuja's opinion is and have more complete explanation-picture about my condition and prescribed treatment. If you have any kind of eye problems I would highly recommend to start with Dr Richard Ahuja. No, I did not omit his personality in this review, its marked at the very top and measured in stars.

He spent the majority of the call telling me that it gave him anxiety to operate on someone who doesn't live within driving distance of their office. That's a reasonable policy to have in place but I wish that information had been communicated to me before I waited 6 months for this appointment and paid $250. 19 minutes into talking with me, he said he had a patient who was "actually here in the office" and he needed to go. I found this incredibly rude. During our brief call, I got mixed signals from him about whether or not I would be allowed to have surgery since I don't live nearby. By the end of the consult, I asked the doctor point blank if he would recommend surgery and he said yes it would benefit me. He even sent an invoice for surgery! Then, the office informs me that he does not in fact recommend surgery. So Dr. Phelps lied to me during my consult. After a conversation with Jasmine the manager, it was clear that no one was at all sympathetic to my confusion and concerns. I was able to get my consult fee refunded which I was grateful for. However, I received no apologies and, overall, my experience at this facility seems fairly unacceptable for a doctor's office.

Surgery: 5 stars I…read morehad a droopy eye lid so my optometrist recommended I see Dr. Weiss for surgery to correct the problem. He was incredibly knowledgable about all aspect of the surgery and explained in great detail how the operation was going to be performed and what recovery was going to be like. He was so good with the operation that after my eye healed, I wanted to get it done to my other eye just because of how great of a job he did. Absolutely fantastic work. Logistics: 1 star I called in April to set up my surgery for Sept as they needed extra lead time to get it approved by my insurance. Then two months later, in June, I switched jobs so I called them to let them know my insurance had changed. They confirmed the change on their end so I thought everything was all set. Fast forward to a couple of weeks before my surgery when they called me and said that no one contacted my new insurance company for approval so now I have to reschedule my appointment to two months later. Wtf, I specifically called after my new job just so this stuff could be taken care of but clearly no one did. During consultation, they told me that my operation was covered by insurance because my droopy lid blocked my vision. However, they never told me that I had a deductible and I found out months later in a bill they sent So basically, you're telling me that during all of those times when I was there talking to the doctor, setting up appointments and playing phone tag to get my insurance worked out, you never bothered to explain to me how much this was actually going to be paid? After paying for my deductible with my FSA card over the phone, I told them to mail me the receipt so that I can submit the claim. Of course instead of sending me the itemized receipt that every person using FSA would need, they send me the credit card one which can't be submitted as FSA proof. So I have to call again and wait for another letter. Lastly, while Dr Weiss was great, his assistant isn't. When I was brought into the office, she asked me if I had high blood pressure. I answered no to which she responded with more questions about my exact blood pressure measurement. When I couldn't give her a number, seeing as how I can't measure my own blood pressure off the top of my head, she just made one up and wrote it on my chart! So in conclusion, 5 stars for Dr Weiss and his work, 1 star for all of the logistics surrounding my surgery.
