A few years ago I had changed where I worked and did most of my errands. One of my big toes had become grotesquely inflamed, and painful. I made what turned out to be a big mistake by seeing a podiatrist in a town more convenient to me than Natick. I saw him twice. As is turns out, he misdiagnosed me and gave me a treatment which did not work. I decided to call Dr. Robinson and, long story short, I credit him with saving my toe and sparing me a great deal of pain. I finally found a fantastic podiatrist who told me that the start of my issue was a previous toe fracture that was missed on multiple x-rays over the years. This doctor saw me many times over two years and never mentioned/acknowledged this fracture but he was willing to recommend $$$$ injection therapy or surgery. I also bought the worthless, expensive custom orthotics he recommended that started falling apart after a year even though they should last 10 years. I had two foot surgeons that I went to to get second and third opinions tell me that I should not get foot surgery unless I'm at my wits end because every time they cut into your foot, it weakens it along with foot surgery recovery being very difficult. Specifically, his office hours are Monday to Thursday (Friday is for surgery and he is unavailable but the office is open) and when I have called in pain from a repeated ingrown toenail I have had to wait at least a week and sometimes longer. He has no one covering for him on off hours or his vacations. My ingrown toenail was chronic and when I repeatedly inquired what may be done other than cutting out the problem over and over again, he said each time that there was no other option. In addition, he rarely used anything to numb the pain and when he did it was not done well. The last time he was unavailable I consulted another podiatrist and I learned that there is a procedure I could have (a partial nail avulsion and chemical matrixectomy) that would likely fix the situation. Also, there was no need for any part of the process to be painful.
