And yesterday, when I went to pick up my glasses, Jacqueline, the general manager, went well out of her way to take care of me. I trusted Dr. Lee so much for her honesty and thoroughness that I stayed with this clinic for years, even though I knew their prices were higher than other places. ​However, I recently realized how much I was overcharged by the store manager. My daughter's vision insurance allows us to apply the frame allowance toward contact lenses if we don't buy frames, making the contact lenses much cheaper. Yet, the store manager told me contacts were not covered at all and charged me full price out-of-pocket. Furthermore, our insurance actually covers high-index (compressed) lenses, but the manager lied, claiming high-index lenses weren't covered, and made me pay around 3-400 every time. ​I admit it was my mistake for not fully checking our insurance policy beforehand. But as a long-term, loyal patient, I expected honesty at the very least. ​Today, I went to the UCI Health Optometry Clinic, used our insurance properly, and saved a lot of money. While I still deeply respect Dr. Lee, the way the store manager runs the business is completely unacceptable. I am beyond disappointed.

Full disclose, this review is regarding my experience only ordering glasses, no optometrist visit…read more TLDR: I got what I needed, but will keep looking for a different place for my family's needs. My toddler daughter needed glasses and we already had a prescription from her pediatric Ophthalmologist. I was searching for a place closer to home that carried toddler frames, because the recommendations from her pediatric Ophthalmologist at the Dohney eye institute in Pasadena were all in SGV. I called New Vision specifically asking about frames for my 20-month old and after being satisfied with their answers, made an appointment. However, their selection was disappointing and they didn't have the strap-on toddler frames, as I was told on the phone. I went with the only viable option reluctantly because I wanted to get the glasses and didn't want to waste more time. I gave them the prescription (in paper form) and they had trouble with their scanner so told me they'd give it back to me when we picked up the glasses. I asked if my daughter needed to be present, and they said yes. When glasses were ready, they texted me at 3:48 Friday asking me to make an appointment, and said they were closing at 4:15 and reopened on Monday. Had I been notified even a couple hours earlier, I could have rearranged my schedule instead of waiting until Monday. So that was disappointing. Finally when picking them up, my daughter tried them on but they didn't really do anything else so not sure why my daughter needed to be present or why I needed to make an appointment. And they also didn't have the paper prescription that I had been promised. The person giving me the glasses made zero effort and just told me how easy it is to request it again from the ophthalmologist office. I obviously know this. This just underscored to me that things aren't communicated properly about patient requests.
