I came here because I felt like my eyes were going bad again and needed a new prescription. Tony and Dr. Diep are amazing! I came in for a contact lens and glasses exam. Dr. Diep is very thorough and caring -- we discussed one of my eyes degenerating and made sure we got the right prescription for that before solidifying my prescription. She gave me samples to feel out what was best for me before making a purchase. They have an amazing selection of glasses. I needed a new pair bc it was time. Tony was very friendly, attentive and patient. He helped me with choosing the right frames and I went with his suggestion. I got some clear frames when usually I would have gone plain black. I LOVE my glasses so much!!! I want to go back and get more! Tony helped fit my glasses so they were perfect. He is a gem. Eye Geeks is very responsive via text and they have been very accommodating. I wanted to transfer optometry care to an optometrist closer to home and decided to book an appointment online with Eye Geeks due to the overwhelmingly positive reviews on Yelp. The booking process was extremely easy. On the day of the appointment, I received a text to confirm for 2pm instead of the original 12pm. I simply assumed that the office had rescheduled. It turned out to be a system error once I checked in. Because of this, I had to wait for Dr. Diep to see two patients before it was my turn again. There were at least 3-4 other patients in the general lobby area at this time. Dr. Diep introduced herself and took me to the first exam room. She asked why I came in today and I mentioned that I wanted my routine eye exam. I also provided a brief summary that I got lasik last May and that I accidentally jabbed my left eyeball last September. The point of the visit was to establish care and to get a routine eye exam, but Dr. Diep made it a point to tell me that any lasik questions should be directed to the lasik office as they would have more info on before/after of my eyes. Okay I get it, whatever. The exams were all fairly straightforward. I still don't know what my prescription is even after the autorefractor and the visual acuity test performed. Also, I've always had changing numbers and letters when reading an eye chart, but Dr. Diep basically asked me to read the same row of numbers and letters for each eye. Then, Dr. Diep did the slit lamp test to inspect my left eye, said it was fine, and to not rub my eyes. She proceeded to show the fundus photography and gave an overview of what it was without telling me the results again until I asked, "so do they look okay?" before she answered "yes." I honestly just felt very confused about the state of my eyes towards the end of the visit. The whole routine eye check ended and I was told to stay in the exam room to wait until the patients outside cleared out. Lol, after 10-15 minutes, I was over it and walked out to pay. There was one patient out there. The same guy who was trying on sunglasses while I was waiting my turn. In summary, I don't think Eye Geeks fits my expectations of what I'm used to in a routine eye exam. Don't get me wrong, Dr. Diep and her receptionist were both friendly. read more

I can't tell you how happy I am to have discovered Eye Geeks. Pre-Covid, because my office is in the OC, I resorted to finding an optometrist in the area...one who I was ultimately not happy with, but too lazy to find another so stuck with them for years. I am so glad I did some additional research (also, Yelp to the rescue again!). Eye Geeks is not only close to my apartment (it's in an unassuming location on Broadway, across from the Hoxton) but as soon as I called and the man answered (I later learned his name is Lon), I knew I had found the right spot. He was professional while being genuinely kind. Even when I had to shift my appointment a couple of times due to travel, he was so sweet and accommodating. Just overall great energy. Their website is also easy to navigate and well-maintained, an alternative for communication. It just got even better from there. Day of the appointment, I met Dr. Irene Diep who also had the best energy. I get anxious before any doctor appointment but immediately found her overall vibe extremely comforting. Professional, clear. She walked me through every step of my exam and even when it came to the dreaded 'puff'/eye pressure test, there is a contraption they use in the office that is painless and less apprehensive than the traditional chin-on-the-machine way I'm used to. The office itself is clean, pristine, and as Lon closed me out, the process couldn't have been smoother. He made sure I was clear on what my insurance covered; what I did have to pay out-of-pocket (i.e. my contact lens fitting), was reasonable. Also, even little gestures of organization/professionalism like tucking my prescriptions/paperwork into a clear folder then handing to me...was a pleasant surprise, especially coming from my last eye doctor who I remember I had to stalk non-stop just to get a copy of my records for myself. I will never go to another optometrist in LA again. I have used four providers over the course of 15 years around the city, and Eye Geeks is head and shoulders better than the others. I don't even live downtown anymore but will always be willing drive a little extra to visit Dr. Diep and Lobsang. First, their shop is immaculate, it has the latest equipment, and there is a great selection of frames. Second, they are both extremely friendly and helpful, like next level. On my last visit, I was having some pretty major eye problems, and Dr. Diep spent over an hour with me evaluating the issue and was ultimately instrumental in making sure I started getting it treated correctly, likely saving me from some long-term effects. Last, but most importantly, you can really trust and rely on them. I have always left their store very happy with everything, from the prescription to the frames and lenses to the service and experience. I really couldn't recommend a business more than Eye Geeks. If its not close to you... don't worry YOU SHOULD STILL COME HERE! My husband raved about this place and pretty much "demanded" that I go here.. lol. I came here since it was about time I get some glasses. First call and set up an appointment. They welcomed me and were very kind, looked into my insurance and had everything pulled up, in terms of what was covered and if I wanted to added additional things, etc. ( blue light, anti scratch, etc.). Told me that I was going to get a regular eye check up but am welcomed to, if I wanted, pay for a more extensive eye exam. Next, I was taken into a room had all the tests taken and it was done all in a very nice and courteous manner, I really felt like they cared about my sight and wanted me to carry out life with the best vision possible haha. They didn't want to over prescribe but wanted to make sure that I was comfortable and could see. After I was done, I went out and to choose my glasses and they asked me what I wanted and really brought over everything that I was interested in. After they answered all of my questions about "do you like this one better or this one?" haha they measured my face to make sure that the glasses would fit on my face comfortably. In addition, they carry brands of glasses that have functionality and fashion. "Four nine" is a Japanese brand made with titanium to fit on your face comfortably with the lightest material. They are also one of the few places that carry Moscot glasses, which is one of the oldest glass makers in the US. Anyways, all this to say that they put of lot of care and research into their products and clinic. Come here, you won't regret it! read more

I came to get check-up for a new prescription for contact lenses and eye glasses and really enjoyed my experience. The facility itself is very clean and they seem to have the latest technology available. The doctor and staff were knowledgable, they weren't pushy, then understood the insurance that I had - and they were incredibly reasonably priced (I believe they price match with an online retailer for contacts). Wow, what a great experience. I typically dread going to the eye doctor. It had been almost ten years, I needed both glasses and contacts. I live in South Park and found this place on Yelp. I would always prefer to support local business so I called an made an appt. upon arrival I noticed the interior to be warm and inviting, and the staff greeted me with a smile. I waited maybe 2 minutes before the doctor saw me, she was very informative and answered all my questions thoroughly. The equipment was top knotch, I'm used to old school machines that need the doctor to turn knobs and press levers. Not here, everything was digital and made the process streamlined (which is nice because who likes being at the doctors office longer than you have to). Then I was amazed at the quality of selection they had for eyeglasses frames, I originally chose one pair, and paid. But last minute changed my mind and decided on another pair. They were not at all annoyed, and kindly refunded the previous pair and exchanged for the ones I wanted. Which are absolutely great I will say, I elected for the Moscot brand as they were minimal yet still stylish. When I returned to pick up the glasses I received the same super friendly customer service as the made sure the glasses fit perfectly, and walked me through the best ways to care for my new spectacles. This place is a hidden gem for Asians. / Pacific Islanders with high cheekbones and low nose bridges. I've always had an issue with eye wear. The last RX glasses I purchased did not fit me well (PRADA). I need nose pads in order for the glasses to sit comfortably on my face. This place is within my insurance network and I found them right here on Yelp. I am not going to lie, this place is not cheap even with my in network discounts. By far the friendliest and most thorough optometrist you will find anywhere. My sons have been here twice now, and we are super excited to have Dr. Diep as our optometrist. It's hard for kids to go through an exam of any kind, but Dr. Diep is so gentle and kind that neither of my rowdy boys have any trouble sitting for theirs. I'm used to optometrists inside of large corporate buildings, or those that are larger chain stores. This one caught me by surprise - a standalone, small little place, in a part of downtown where optometrists don't hang out (professionally at least). Not the usual optometrist. I was desperate. Broken glasses. Tough prescription. And this place is 3-4 blocks from my condo, so I could stagger there half blind. Gosh, I'm so happy I came here. This review is long overdue. I've had a previous optometrist for over a decade which was just too big of an operation and was less personal than I'd like. Needing to find something closer, I found Eye Geeks on Yelp and was incredibly impressed upon arrival. They have a clean and thoughtfully curated show room. Lopsang assisted me and he was incredibly helpful throughout the process. Dr. Diep was very personal and also very informative with any questions. I did get an eye exam, lens replacement for glasses, and also a great new pair. I didn't find them to be overpriced nor inexpensive. I have been looking for a new optometrist since i moved to the area years ago. very glad my search is over Dr Irene Diep is very professional and knowledgable. she listened to my concerns and needs for special type of glasses and contacts, and based off her assessment, provided me with options that other optometrists hadn't.
