I go there as often as my waistline allows for lunch, and the food is excellent. As you can imagine, the meat is top notch. The prices are also so low you'll think you've gone back in time (I think I paid $4.50 for a big double cheeseburger the last time I was there). Raber's also hosted and catered our rehearsal dinner. They did a wonderful job. The lighting they have in the space is really good for setting a party mood, there is a full bar, and the food was fantastic (we had tenderloin steaks and chicken). We got so many compliments from our guests. One super nice touch was they wrote a nice message/sign for my wife and I on the chalkboard wall, and then a bunch of our guests added to it with more messages wishing us well, making jokes, etc. It was great. I'll be back for lunch as often as possible, and if I ever need to host a big party again, Raber's will definitely be the first place I talk to.

We've been looking for a place to get steaks since Thrushwoods in Galesburg shutdown to the public. We got two ribeyes and two New York strips and grilled them that night. Very reasonably priced and delicious! We also bought some jalapeño beef sticks and they had the perfect amount of kick that allowed you to enjoy the beef flavors too. Brock also told us about their huge variety of brats and sent us home with the maple and a package of pork patties to sample. We haven't had those yet but will fire up the grill the next chance we get. We'll definitely make the drive out from Oak Run for steaks and meats again as we enjoyed the beautiful homes and various establishments for adult beverages Elmwood has to offer. The customer service is what you'd expect from a small town market, personalized and friendly. They offer monthly meat bundles that are budget friendly. Their brats will put, Johnsonville Brats to shame and Jimmy Dean's sausage cannot hold a candle to their sausage. Proof that buying local is a good thing. Some of their brands are generic, but with today's economy that is a good thing. There are lots of single little coolers around the store, filled with perishable products. Take note of the prepared foods near the butcher counter. You'll find some delicious side dishes for those tasty brats. Another end-cap to check out, is their branded spices. They're just as good as those expensive name brand spices. If you haven't shopped the aisles of Schwegel's, I recommend you correct that ASAP. You just might become a frequent shopper.

They also have great seasonings, cheeses, etc available. I've had everything from their deli meats to prime rib, as well as having whole hogs processed -- and I've never had a bad experience with them.
