Rabers has long been my favorite butcher shop in Peoria. Since they've opened their new location they've added on additional services like a full lunch counter and an event space. I go there as often as my waistline allows for lunch, and the food is excellent. As you can imagine, the meat is top notch. The prices are also so low you'll think you've gone back in time (I think I paid $4.50 for a big double cheeseburger the last time I was there). Raber's also hosted and catered our rehearsal dinner. They did a wonderful job. The lighting they have in the space is really good for setting a party mood, there is a full bar, and the food was fantastic (we had tenderloin steaks and chicken). We got so many compliments from our guests. One super nice touch was they wrote a nice message/sign for my wife and I on the chalkboard wall, and then a bunch of our guests added to it with more messages wishing us well, making jokes, etc. It was great. I'll be back for lunch as often as possible, and if I ever need to host a big party again, Raber's will definitely be the first place I talk to. read more

A lot of my family has been involved with Rabers on one way or another, working there for years. So it has always held a place in my heart. But after the fire I was unsure if they would carry forward the things that made them special. Walking in the door, the memories flooded back as the smell of fresh meat hit my nose. This was the first sign things were alright. Once I saw the doorway with plastic flaps, I knew it was going to be okay. A giant walk in cooler boasting fresh cuts of meat and butchers there working ready to help. Sausages still seem to be made in house and have the wonderful flavors that we have grown to love. Do not overlook Raber Packing when you're looking for a venue to host your next event! We recently held our annual fundraiser here at Raber Packing. The staff worked tirelessly to make sure everything was perfect for our event. The food was wonderful, the bar was completely stocked and the venue was perfect for our group of 200 guests. Went to Rabers today and Carrolls was open. Myself and my guest each got a bratwurst with a side of potato salad and macaroni, salad and fountain drink. It was less than $10.00 for two people, what a deal. The bratwurst were outstanding, just what I needed. read more

My husband and I were planning a simple wedding and therefore wanted to keep the food simple as well. (Our wedding was 10/03/2009.) We decided on Raber's because their food had unbeatable prices (well below any other catering company in town, including Alwan's or Cracked Pepper Corn, for the type of food we were selecting) and was tasty. We ordered pulled pork sandwiches, buns, green beans, baked beans, and salad for 100 people, as well as paid an additional fee to have Raber's staff the buffet line and help clean up dishes at the end of our wedding. All of this cost about $600, even with taxes included!! We couldn't have been happier to get a yummy meal at a very affordable price. The only reason I cannot give Raber's 5 stars is that they were so lax in their catering policy that it caused this bride some nervousness! For example, they didn't require a contract - they just jotted our information down on their calendar and said they would arrive the day of the wedding with food. Nevertheless, the Raber's staff was professional during the event, did a wonderful job cleaning and serving, and provided good food at a steal of a price. read more

Top notch! Straight forward butcher shop. I came in, told the butcher what I wanted and she knew exactly how to help. The prices were affordable and the cuts of meat were great! It's a little hidden but they have a big sign on Farmington Rd that points you in the right direction. I will def be going here from now on! read more

Like Crystal, I used Rabers for catering my wedding. We actually only purchased their pulled pork (no BBQ sauce), which is $6.95/lb. They also offer a BBQ + pulled pork mixture for ~$4/lb. We tried it out and were NOT fans of the BBQ flavor or the runny texture from excessive amounts of sauce. Also, like Crystal we experienced a less than organized staff. We actually contacted them multiple times during the process to check-in, reduce our order size, look into purchasing sides from them...and each time we called/visited they had lost our order. There seems to be EXTREME lack of communication between their sales area and the processing facility. On the day of the wedding, a friend went to pick up the roasters (renting from them for $5 each). I had called the day before and had everything confirmed (for the 5th time!) The sales area had no clue about our order and took a lot of searching to find someone who knew where our meat was. Thankfully they had it, but not the sort of stress I wanted to deal with on my wedding day. The pulled pork was mediocre. It had definitely been frozen previously. Maybe not worth the hassle. And probably slightly over-priced. read more
