This truck specializes in one thing and they do that one thing very, very well. Sno-Balls!!…read more I've only been able to track them down twice and I'm debating whether or not to share the location because I kind of want the Sno-Balls all to myself... The first time I had the Peach Cobbler Sno-Ball and it was literally the best shaved ice I had ever had! (and I'm a huge shaved ice connoisseur). The 2nd time I had the Orange Dreamsicle Sno-Ball and it was equally as delicious. When I order at the window, I always ramble and mush and shower them with compliments because the owner is just so sweet. He always has me try my Sno-Ball in front of him to ensure that I love it. Please, please, please get a Twitter or Facebook profile so I can visit you more often and not just the occasional times you've shown up at First Fridays.

A New Orleans Style Sno-Ball truck! On a hot day like this, that's PERFECT! So, they do one thing. But they do it WELL. The shaved ice is so soft and easy to eat with a spoon. The flavors are delicious, and they put enough in so that the entire cup (which is huge btw) tastes great. We went with two of the specialty flavors: Grandma's Custard and Peach Cobbler. Both were killer, but Peach Cobbler is the winner in my book. It was sprinkled with cinnamon, which I think is a great touch. Another great touch? The low price! I can't recall how much it was, but certainly affordable. The guy was nice, which is always a bonus. He said that he is usually set up at First Fridays and then in the Bottoms for First Weekends. So far no web presence, Twitter, or Facebook, so hunting the guy down seems to be a challenge. But if you see this truck, I implore you to go treat yourself to a Sno-Ball!

And then I ate the best hot dog of my life. No joke. No exaggeration. This thing hit like a freight train. The LA Dog is an absolute disaster in the best possible way. Bacon-wrapped, loaded to the point of disrespect, crunchy, creamy, spicy -- it's like someone took every good idea they've ever had at 1:48am and just said "yeah, put it all on there." And somehow... it works. Perfectly. I was covered in it. Hands a mess. Probably had sauce on my face. Didn't care. Not one bit. But here's the thing -- it wasn't just the dog. The truck was glowing in the middle of the night, clean, bright against everything around it, music blasting with accordion and trumpets like a street party dropped into an industrial block. Cars pulling in and out, people lingering, that low hum of the city still awake. The crew was awesome. Just genuinely good people. We pulled lawn chairs out of the back of the car and sat there in that lot eating like kings. That's the kind of food you remember. Not because it's fancy. Not because it's trying to impress you. Because it shows up exactly when you need it and absolutely wrecks you in the best way possible. Best hot dog I've ever had. Easy.

They are operating out of a tent with a flat top grill and set up on SW BLVD Th - Su. Using large quarter pound dogs wrapped in bacon they are grilled to perfection. The bun is also grilled and sautéed onions, bell peppers and jalapeños are toppings of choice along with mustard, ketchup, mayo and flaming hot cheetos. I did mine with everything minus the cheetos. Beautiful!! At only $6 I felt like I had swindled the owners. A product this big, bold and beautiful could fetch a ten-spot in a sit down diner. The two people operating the grill were some of the nicest folks you could meet. I will definitely be looking for them every time I'm driving down the BLVD.
