Peach Shake with Peaches from the farm

When: Sun July 25th; 12:30 pm Nice Farm Stand with easy on/off access from the I-5, off exit 263 in Brooks...It's where the large Pilot Travel Center is located...After getting off the I-5, its about a 5-10 minute drive on Brooklake Rd NE, past the Pilot Travel Center and a right turn onto River Road NE will get you to Jones Farm Produce in about another 10 minutes. From May to October, they are opened daily at 9:00 am and close either at 5:00 pm or 6:00 pm, depending on the day. This roadside Farm Stand is stocked with Fresh Fruits & Vegetables from the farm as well as other area farms. They also have a nice selection of jams, jellies & syrups, under the Jones Farm Produce label. The highlight of the store for me was the Ice Cream counter in the back of the store...A Peach Shake with Fresh Peach definitely hit the spot on this hot afternoon.

Don't bother trying to get some water from the tap here as you make a purchase! Everything is about money rather than people at this place

If you're a cyclist doing some extensive miles and wondering if you should stop in to get some water from the tap, rest, and make a purchase, stop right there! "No can do" is their motto under the justification that they "have water for sale." If you are driving by in your car and wanting to make a purchase and fill up your water, don't even bother. I'm writing this review on behalf of my partner who attempted to do just that. They had just ridden 60 miles. I wasn't with them this time, but when cycling we frequently stop into places and sit and get some water first (you know, after riding 60 miles, filling up your water bottle is your first priority). Every time we do this, we end up making a purchase. In this case, my partner WAS MAKING A PURCHASE at the time they asked (sometimes, we will delay and purchase when we are ready). EVEN WITH A PURCHASE, they refused to give freely 3/4 of a liter of tap water. -But even if we weren't going to make a purchase- What sweat is it off your back to just allow us to fill up a water bottle? It costs a business next to nothing (if anything at all) to fill up a water bottle from the tap. Further, it creates those warm, feel-good feelings and hence rave reviews to other potential customers when businesses treat fellow humans with kindness and understanding. It seems a very simple premise - rave reviews draw more customers and hence, revenue. I will never understand business practices that snub potential customers and repel people from their business and subsequently repel the word-of-mouth business they would have received, but I figured people should know about this one. You may consider taking your business elsewhere.

Best peaches ever! Enjoyed an ice cream while sitting on their front patio area. Will definitely be back, especially during peach season.

We picked a watermelon and 1/2 bucket of apples. I feel like the apples were either under ripe or overripe. 1/2 bucket $8.50 full bucket $17. Watermelon upick is $6. They did have already picked buckets that you could just purchase a higher price. I didn't catch the price of the veggies or flowers. I will go back to check out the pears in a few weeks.

I was here for apples, and they had a ton of options. They were very friendly and patiently explained the process. You fill buckets and then pay at the end. They have pull carts so you can move multiple buckets around. There are so many varieties of apples! There is a chart at the entrance to the orchard with the names and what purpose is best for each kind of apple (eating, baking, applesauce). They also let you sample the apples to help with the selection process. The orchards extend farther than was apparently from the parking lot. It was peaceful at the far end of some of the rows, and we found plenty of apples. It can be muddy, so boots are probably a good idea. It was a lovely fall day, with blue skies. This was a fun way to connect with the season and to become more familiar with where some of our food comes from. Highly recommended.
