I have been on over 15 cruises so I consider myself very seasoned at this cruising thing. Someone shared with me to use a travel agent so I can get extra help. I laughed and said I wasn't going to WASTE my time and what I THOUGHT money using an agent when I could SIMPLY do it ALL myself just directly with the cruise line. Well this time I decided to try and the outcome was FABULOUS! Why I will FOREVER use Steve my travel agent: 1. The prices savings. Steve does NOT charge you more than the rate you can get yourself. In fact he SAVED me money. 2. The price of the cabins actually DROPPED before we sailed and Steve stayed on top of things and called me about the discount news. Now we all know the cruise line would have NEVER called me to SAVE me money. 3. In my booking there was a passenger celebrating a birthday. I had purchased a birthday cake, but there was no need to do so because Steve purchased a cake for the guest with a BEAUTIFUL note attached. It was great! We had TWO cakes so we were able to gift a cake to another table. 4. Steve sent out deals on the cruise line approved excursions with cheaper prices than booking directly with the cruise line. I saved some money with that as well. What initially sold me to use Steve was I started with planning a cruise for 1/5/2015. I called Steve after I tried booking my group which consisted of 6 total cabins DIRECTLY with the cruise line. It wasn't enough for the cruise line to consider it a "group booking" and throw in extra goodies or reduced deposits. Well using Steven he was able to get my 6 cabin's a reduced deposit rate so we were able to make payments without putting down HALF of the total cost. In addition he was able to gift each cabin with a bottle of wine, and of course update me with ANY rate drops. It's really nice to have credit when you get on the ship. Less money you have to spend while on vacation. I've bugged him ALL year with question after question and even downright super picky with table seating. I even made requests for where I wanted each of my cabins to be and Steve obliged and made it all happen. I didn't have to wait 48 hours for a phone call or email from the cruise line he handled it all. I can't express how great his professionalism is and how he's dealt with all my nagging requests. During the planning of the cruise for January I decided to book another local cruise with him. The cruise on 11/16/14 went FLAWLESS and this next cruise I know will be just as great. (17 days and counting at the time of this review. I will update when I return) Steve will be my FIRST call whenever it comes to travel. Steve put a lot of work into getting us the right cruise and all the right excursions. He spent a lot of time with us and was always patient and thorough, no matter what time of day it was. The excursions he booked for us were not through the cruise line but an independent firm, and that turned out to be tremendous. We were on smaller vans instead of the large buses. This meant we got to make additional stops for incredible photo opportunities of the local sits. The big buses only make a couple of stops. The excursions from these smaller companies had knowledgeable, funny and interesting guides and were so much better than the big guys who pretty much just get you there and back. Steve followed up and all the bookings. He had to rearrange a few because we made changes and he was the ultimate professional. Everything he did from beginning to end was top notch.
