Everyone who is in the know still calls this place Hi-Mart! Note that you'll have to turn into a long driveway, and Hi-Mart is nestled in the back. It's across from the cemetery, off of Pulaski and Peterson. A sister company to Joong Boo, this warehouse offers various Korean home decor, cookware, pillows/blankets, clothing, various accessories, as well as a nice selection of snacks and groceries. Feel free to peruse the aisles, taking your time. You never know what you'll find! The employees are readily available, but they allow you to explore at your leisure; when you're ready, go towards the front and a friendly cashier will check you out. If you're hungry, they also have a dumpling place by the produce section as well as some ready-made food items by the front (such as ddukboi, juhns, popcorn chicken, etc.). Joong Boo rewards are accepted here, so level up! +Korean warehouse & groceries +friendly staff +plenty of parking

Love the variety of seafood they have here. Has to try the Short Ribs soup at the food court upstairs.

Love it!! This place is bigger and less busy than the original location, and compared to their Glenview location, a bit smaller, but less busy and closer to the highway. And closer to more authentic Korean restaurants! (Jeonju, cho sun ok) It felt so clean and well displayed, that even though the Glenview location is bigger, this place was easier to navigate ands felt like there was a bigger selection. Price is the same in all the locations except for very few location specific sale items, which you can find in their weekly ads. Most importantly, the staff here are ALL SO nice!!! The cashier was the bomb! And the guys stocking groceries were so helpful, with a smile. I feel like at the other locations, the staff is rushed and overworked and customers usually feel the blunt of it. Here, I felt like I was at a friendly neighborhood market. This will definitely be where I'll be coming back to from now on! Oh and this is called the "warehouse" so I was a little wary of coming here at first, but they do carry most everything. The only thing we couldn't find here was alcohol (soju). And I also like that their pantry items are at the front of the store and the refrigerated/frozen items are all in the back.

Joong Boo is a great Asian market chain here in Chicago. This location in particular is the warehouse location. They sell a wide range of oversea products along with fresh meat and fish. My favorite thing about Joong Boo is the Sashimi Platter on Wednesday and Friday for $30. You definitely can't beat that if you enjoy fresh sashimi. Such a steal for the price. People here are friendly and are open during Christmas and New Years Day til 7pm. There is plenty of parking here. It is always clean and well lit. Definitely worth visiting when in the North Park area.

01/01/21 - FIRST REVIEW OF 2021 Yet another Joong Boo. This one is a Market Warehouse off of 5800 N Pulaski in Back of Restaurant Depot. This Joong Boo is the 3rd one that I know of. The address is 5825 N Tripp Ave, Chicago, 60646. The original one is at 3333 N Kimball Ave right off of the Kennedy expressway. The second one is in Glenview @ 670 Milwaukee Ave. This third store is located behind The Restaurant Depot @ 5836 N Pulaski. To access Joong Boo there is a road just south of the Restaurant Depot that goes from Pulaski Ave all the way to the back of the site to a stand alone building w/a small parking lot that is Joong Boo Market Warehouse. There was a different business before Joong Boo. If I need some Asian groceries it's super convenient as it's located about 1 mile almost directly east from where I live. They have many of the typical Asian goods along w/fresh produce, meats & seafood w/a nice but limited quantity & selection. They also have a variety of products for preparing and eating foods like pots, pans, dishes, bowls and utensils. It's nice to know that we have access so close to home if the need arises. FYI they also have a nice size sashimi platter that has tuna, salmon, fluke & tilapia all the time for $35. This same sashimi platter is only $25 on Wednesday & Friday

The store was immaculate and well-stocked. They offered several brands of the item I was looking for. The store shares an enormous parking lot with other businesses. I will definitely spend more time in the store on my next visit to see what else I can find.

The location is extremely convenient. The minute you walk out of the Kedzie Brown Line stop you make a right and you're there. There's parking, which is good to know. It took over 50 minutes to get here on the train. It might be a lot faster if I drive, so I'm glad there's parking at least. The grocery store is huge and has a variety of Middle Eastern and Turkish goods. I bought several cheeses, from Kashkaval to Halloumi and most importantly my Labne! The meat looked extremely fresh, but I wasn't going to risk dragging it on the train with me all the way back to downtown, but I'll definitely keep that in mind if I drive back there. The isles are organized and neat. There's also a mini bakery in the store and it has delicious sweets and lots and lots of fresh bread. They also have the famous Middle Eastern Mankushe (thyme and cheese flavors)! I wanted to buy so many more things but there's only so much I can carry with me. The employees were super helpful and helped find a few things I needed. The only reason why I am giving 4 stars is because there were some expired items in the fridge, but nothing that drastic! Till next time!

I was also excited as they carry the brand of lipstick I like. I put the different color of lipstick on the back of my hand until I found the color I like. Of course I cleaned my hand using the cotton swab and make-up remover. I end up buying more $100 something worth of snacks (including the shampoo and conditioner I came there originally). The girl who checked me out doesn't have a good customer service. I asked if they have trash and she said yes, so I handed over the cotton ball. And she pointed me to the end of the counter. I said, ok, so I walked there with my cart as I put my 2 year old niece on the cart. I thought she was done charging but I didn't realize that there are 2 more konjac jelly on the side of the cart and I didn't see it because my 2 year old niece was sitting on the cart. It was an honest mistake. Anyways I handed it over to her and saw her roll her eyes. I just keep my cool. I asked for an extra small bag so that I can put my niece snacks that we purchased. The girl said it's 10 cents. Girl, I just got more than $100 worth of stuff and you can't give me an extra bag? I've been in the store more than 10 times and didn't know that they charge the bags. Anyways I end up giving her $50 as that's the only cash I have. Most of the emplyees are nice but the girl in the counter yesterday sucks. I'm giving it 2 star due to the other employee who is more considerate and even open the door as me and my niece walked out the store. 1 star for having variety of stuff, but I can go to Park to Shop, Mitsuwa, or H-mart for a lesser price.

It has a pretty big selection of produce. Careful in bringing the best stuff to here. They have a lot of experience selecting based on geographic regions, seasons, and weather. After going inside for the first time, we were surprised it was bigger than it appeared to be. It's got a pretty big produce section. This takes up a lot of the inside, and seems to be the main thing. A lot of the usual fruits and vegetables, but also has quite a lot that's not as common. The rest of the store has the bakery and deli counters, and they have fresh meats if you like getting meaty. Also they have a stand to get fresh gelato. The prices are pretty good, and they had lots of cheap specials. Clean and organized with everything looking fresh. It's certainly got Indian products, but there's a whole lot more, and good prices.
