We had lunch here today for the first time. We were on a wine tour and this was our stop halfway through the day. My husband and I both ordered the Cobb salad with blue cheese dressing. The serving was generous with plenty of egg, ham, bacon and cheese. The lettuce underneath was fresh and crisp and the salads tasted great. The service wasn't bad, but could have been better. We were with another couple and asked for separate bills. When the bill arrived, everything was on one so we had to ask them to take it back and separate it. We also waited a while for the server to come back with the credit card machine. The meals were quite reasonably priced. Came here with my Mom for a Friday night pub meal. Food was mediocre. Service was bad. The only thing I enjoyed was the atmosphere and neighbourhood as I grew up in the area. Have come here a few times over the years for various reasons. Beers with friends, and business lunches. Most recent was the latter, sat outside on the terrace. The three of us each took a salad, of which there were three different ones. My Thai Shrimp salad was very debatable as to how 'Thai' it was, not much sign of spices, but a nice simple light lunch. The Caesar was fine, as was the Greek, and the wine list had a nice selection of local whites and reds. The Jordan House Tavern is a local tavern with greetings for the regulars but there are also customers from all over Canada and the US coming to the Twenty Valley and especially the Cave Springs Winery store and tasting room. Wednesdays have live music and I've been there fora Trivia night. Food-wise, I agree with another reviewer who loved the fish and chips--a large piece of fish perfectly fried. We were driving from Niagara to Mississauga and it was lunchtime. We have stayed at the Jordan Inn and the Inn-on-the-Twenty several times. It was a no-brainer to detour 5 km to the Jordan House Tavern for lunch. We were not disappointed; the food is as good as we remembered. Thursday is Fish and Chips special, $9 after 5 PM [US$7.50 for our American friends]. But it was lunch so fish and chips was $15; well worth the price. Instead of ordering two orders we ordered one with an extra piece of fish for six dollars and shared. It was more than enough, in fact we left some on the plate. As it should be, the fish was the highlight. A very light crisp batter that was almost a tempura. I remember it as a bit thicker and a bit doughy. This was so much better. Must be a new chef. The fish was perfectly cooked, moist and tasty. The fries were good as well, as was the coleslaw and there was a nice dipping sauce. The drinks, a Bloody Caesar for my wife and a Cremore lager for me, were just pennies over six dollars each. Service was quick, efficient and pleasant. The extra plate for sharing arrived without asking. This may have been the best Fish and chips I have ever eaten. A visit to the charming town of Jordan station and Cave Springs winery is a bonus. Came here with my boyfriend for a bite to eat. My boyfriend knew this tavern well as his dad use to come to this bar all the time. Looks like the tavern has changed since his time when it was bought out by the Cave Springs owners. Looks like they renovated it nicely with a fresh look. We were greeted and seated promptly where a server was at our table within minutes. We ordered lunch with a diverse menu to chose from. I had the feature soup with a eggplant sandwich and my boyfriend had the feature seafood pasta. Both meals were served promptly. The portion sizes were more than generous. Soon enough the tavern was filled with guests where it may have been under staffed to serve the filled tavern. Food was okay. Served hot but the seafood pasta did taste a bit fishy. The fries are delicious and j would say was the best part of the meal. We took a doggy bag to go. Overall, experience was good. read more

Great service, fantastic food....covid sucks! Although we had a very romantic dinner having the place to ourselves (it was also late), I miss the people and energy when the pub is alive and thriving. Please consider going to the Jordan house next time you want a great tasting meal and know they are taking all precautions when it comes to being covid safe. My "test" for any pub is the "Roast Beef Dip". If you can master a classic, that's a good omen. So the fries are definitely double fried and very well salted. The bun is crispy and easy to crunch. The beef is well done if shredded a tad too much. But the "au jus" is OMG SALTY TO THE MAX. I mean, I like salty, salty is good, but this is beef juice with added soya sauce. Likely the drippings have Bovril added to the max. Not a repeat for this guy. My wife did rave about the fish tacos so there is hope. read more

Stopped here for dinner and grabbed a seat along the wall near the entrance. Waitress came over right away with menus then took our drink order. I ordered a ginger beer which was pretty tasty. I ordered the P.E.I. muscles which were really really good. It was steamed in a garlic, wine, pepper and onion mix which had a great flavor. Came with bread which I happily dipped in the leftover broth. The person I was with order the fish and chips which was very good. Tasty batter with flaky fish inside. Fries that came with it were average. Service was a little slow but nothing ridiculous. Sports bar type setup with 2 large screens and a smaller tv behind the bar. Stopped here recently while crossing though town on a Winery Tour and decided to try this place for lunch. Overall it was very good, prices are fairly reasonable, the service was decent, and the food was good as well (reuben wrap and mac'n'cheese were both good). They serve mostly pub food, but for what it is I would certainly say it's a notch above your average pub food. Very decent beer selection as well. May 22 2015 7pm dinner. The best we ate was the fish tacos and fish and chips. The not so great was the French onion soup. It looked good, but was too salty and processed tasting. Lacking in cheese also. Chicken wings were good also. Nice band, not too loud. Fun crowd and very good service. I would recommend it. read more

I grew up in Jordan, and have been to the Jordan House many MANY times. I am sad to say it is not what it used to be. My husband and I visited last night(July 2, 2016) for supper. There were maybe 5 full tables in the whole restaurant, and a small party upstairs...so it was not very busy. There were 3 servers, and a bar tender working...and when one of the servers can find 10-15 minutes to sit down and chit chat with the table beside us about nothing, I think I can safely say it was NOT that busy. We gave drink orders, waited about 10 minutes for a coke and a water. Then, waited another 10 minutes just to give our food order, after she knew we were already decided and ready. We ordered Bruschetta Bread to start, and both ordered the Deluxe Mac and Cheese for mains. I am not joking...we waited just under 45 minutes for one order of Bruschetta Bread. I actually timed it, because the same thing happened the LAST time we were here as well, except our starter had come out after 45 minutes, then the mains came out a minute later! Really? I was curious as to if it was going to happen again. Anyway, that is totally unreal. We were so hungry, and were very unimpressed. Our waitress seemed to have no sense of urgency, and neither did the kitchen staff. The women's washroom floor was completely soaked. I had worn flip flops, and almost did the freaking splits cause I slipped on it! I'm pregnant, and if I had actually slipped and fell...Lord knows what would have happened! Our server did take care of it when I told her the floor was very wet, and I almost fell and didn't want anyone else( maybe a senior) to have an injury! I was happy to see that! The food was good. We were just happy to eat, finally!! We try to go to the JoHo to see the local talent( Mike Lynch, Jeff Brown, Leaky Faucet...), but we are at the point where we will wait to see them at another venue. Always loved their fish taco so I ordered take out tonight. Very disappointed. Food wasn't even warm when I picked it up (only ~15 min after I called to order). Lettuce in the taco looked shrivelled and the fish tasted very dry. Anyways it didn't taste like freshly cooked. 1 star for the picked onion- my favourite part of their fish taco. read more

Been coming here for years, always great! This time, not so much. Went for an early dinner around 4:30. Sat at the bar. Didn't get served until 5:00. Finally ordered food. 45 minuets later we asked for it to go because we had to be somewhere to 6:00 and had to eat wings on the go...Very very disappointing. Servers knew we were there. Today at the Jordan House while having a very tasty lunch my wife had a soaking from the bottom falling out of a beer being served. The fault was truly no one's but two people at the table got a pretty good soaking. The beer was replaced and the day went on. When the bill came I wondered would there be any attempt to make up for the soaking, much to my dismay there was not. Comping a beer at least would be right and maybe her lunch would be just but sadly neither of these happened. When the others had left I went to speak to the staff and after listening to me they replied with a very dismissive remark. The fact the lunch was good and beer cold were over shadowed by the lack of response from the staff over the event. It will be along time before we return. I understand that businesses are in a hard place but truly to comp a draft or lunch to make up for this event would be a good investment in good will that opportunity has now passed. read more

We intended to dine at Inn at the Twenty but we were too tired and not hungry enough for a big fancy meal. Found Jordan House Tavern on their web site listed as a casual alternative. This place is VERY casual, also noisy. Also, From the first the waiter was very rude, barely communicating with us. We ordered IPA beer and what he brought was obviously a pale lager. Even though the tap was wrong he made no attempt to offer another choice or to apologize. We had to get the manager to tell him to give us samples and change our order. The fish and chips we had were acceptable but the continuing lack of response on the part of our waiter put a damper on everything else. We do not recommend this place. read more

I visited the Jordan area around New Years. I ended up at Jordan House Tavern a couple nights in a row because no where else was open at 8 p.m. in the area! They have a good selection of draft beers and a full bar. They also serve food. There was no live music when I went on a Tuesday night; however, there was the second night (Wednesday). They had an OK live band and no cover charge. For dinner, I tried their homemade Irish stew - amazing... I'd like the recipe. And I tried the blue cheese burger, also very good. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely head back here! read more

I was devastated to find the beef dip has been changed. It was perfect - why change it? Legit everyone one I know went there for beef dip and now it's some open faced BS. Also you're the only the bar in the area they should be open right until 2 am on weekends. I have called several times very early and have been told they're calliing last call soon every time. This place is the best. We stayed in Jordan for five nights and had dinner here for four of them. The beer was excellent, the food was really good, and the prices were unbelievable. My wife and I live 15 minutes away from the Jordan House. We have tried just about every restaurant that served chicken wings so we needed a change. This was our first visit. Wings were a good size, cooked to order. They do however need a better selection of sauces. Guinness was good, service good. Entertainment great. Will be back. read more

Had a disappointing lunch at Jordan House this afternoon. They were, I hope, just having a bad day, regardless, I still feel the need to write a review. Only after being seated were we informed that there was a 40 minute wait for food and that the bathrooms were flooded so we had to leave the restaurant in order to use the facilities. When ordering we asked our server what sh would recommend. I ended up ordering the Crispy Chicken Ranch sandwich and my friend the Deluxe Mac and Cheese. After indeed waiting 40 minutes if not more for our meals, we were disappointed with our server's recommendations. The Chicken sandwich was 2 of the kids chicken fingers on a bun with a few tiny pieces of lettuce and tomatoes. The "Deluxe" Mac and Cheese was literally macaroni noodles with cheese melted in top. Not creamy as our server described. It was so greasy that it literally pooled in the bottom of the dish after every bite. What I find the most disappointing, is that despite asking our server if the chicken sandwich was usually just two chicken fingers on a bun or if perhaps they were just having an off day, her response was less than ideal. She did not apologize or provide explanation, simply said we are not cheap and we hand bread them ourselves. Never once did a manager come over to speak with us or apologize for our disappointment. I was not looking for compensation for our disappointment experience, simply an apology would have sufficed. I am not one to complain, especially in Social Media but this experience definitely left me with a sour taste. I will lot be returning to the Jordan House anytime soon. read more

Stopped in procrastinating about my Christmas shopping and it worked. Pulled up to the bar and had a great buffalo chicken wrap and poutine (thanks to the big guy bartender for the recommendation) and a couple of libations. We visit Jordan Tavern at least 2-3 times a month. Great waitresses and waiters, even better food. They treat my kids amazing. We usually visit when we are in between hockey games at the local arena. My 7 year old daughter is quite picky with her food but they never disappoint. According to my 11 year old they have great fish and chips! There are high chairs and booster seats if you have younger kids....or dolls that just have to sit at the table too! read more
