On a recent visit to Jordan Thomas, I was informed that a 3% "overhead fee" would be charged on credit and debit card transactions to offset training and material costs. When I explained that it is illegal to charge any type of fee on debit card transactions, the GM argued with me and tried to tell me it's not a credit card processing fee. Ironically, it just happens to be 3%! As a client, it is not my responsibility to pay your credit fee/overhead fee. That is your cost of doing business! Also, I believe you take that deduction as a business expense on your taxes. Most importantly, in all US states, it is illegal for merchants to charge a fee for using a debit card, including surcharges. This is because the Durbin Amendment prohibits debit card surcharges. While some states have laws restricting or prohibiting credit card surcharges, debit cards are specifically exempt, meaning businesses cannot add fees for using them. In this tough economy, I'm surprised a business would attempt a money grab for services that are discretionary in nature, and typically, only received as the budget allows. read more

Made a new client appointment for cut, color, highlights. I had Sarah as a stylist. I have very difficult hair and needed someone who knew the best way to treat it. My hair was in bad shape and needed a lot of TLC. I have to say I was thrilled with her knowledge and abilities. I came out looking like a million bucks! read more

Booked an appt for my 16 yr old daughter for a full highlight. The cost when I booked was between $114-$140. When I picked my daughter up I was billed $389.50. My daughter was asked multiple times by the stylist to do many other things besides the highlights, such as cut dead ends cause that would make the stylist feel better $72 extra, custom color add on stylist wanted to change color $22, glazing toner add on $36, blow dry $20 and a curl for $20. And to add on the full highlight cost was $185. This stylist (Angel) took what I would call advantage of my daughter. If you book an appt for your child make sure you stand next to them the whole time or they will add everything. read more

Disappointing customer service. Showed up for my 5:30pm hair appointment that was canceled with no message or phone call. They said they "left a message" but when I checked my phone they did not even call. They text 3-5 times to make sure that YOU show up for your appointment and even charge 50% of your service cost if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice. I didn't even hear an apology for wasting my time. They have plenty of business and charge too much for bad customer service. I will go elsewhere from now on. read more

This is the 3rd time I was given wrong information when I call the front desk to make an appointment for hair services. The receptionists at Jordan Thomas's are incompetent. I went for a hair cut on 1|11|23, was told a level 2 cost $49.00 , and when I went to pay the receptionist ask for $60.00. She didn't apologize and said The reason was there was a rate change within that week. I was not happy , but for 11 dollars difference I was not going to make a scene, I will just never do business with Jordan thomas again. Also, for $60.00 , as far as the hair cut took maximum 10 minutes. Kristenc the hair stylist did a blunt cut straight across the back of my hair, didn't pin up or separate my hair at all. Never again ‍ Front desk was incompetent and initially charged me $31, and I added an additional $10 for tip. 10 minutes later as my wife was paying for her haircut, the front desk lady "realized" she made a mistake by undercharging me and forced me to come back to pay an additional $10. $41 for getting my ends trimmed, no wash or blow dry. Stated she had already gave me $10 off since I didn't receive a wash, as original price was. Haircut lasted 5 minutes. Wasn't informed of price up front. Seems as I was paying with a gift card they wanted to up-charge me to take the remaining balance. Made me come back to pay an additional $10 10 minutes after I paid my tab and tipped an extra $10 cash. Feeling scammed for a basic trim. read more

This was a great experience. I have a hard time because everyone I have found that I like to do my hair has a long wait to get an appointment and I'm more of a wake up and want something done now person. I messaged one of the apprentices, Caitlynn, at the bel air location on Tuesday and was able to get in Thursday. She did a great job. I gave her little guidance on what I wanted but she fixed everything I didn't love about my hair. Everyone there was super friendly and helpful. She did a cut, color, and style. They provided wine and cookies while I waited on the dye to settle and kept me informed on all the products she used in my hair. They didn't try to talk me into buying anything extra either. I loved my experience here and will go back in the future. It wasn't the cheapest place around but you get the quality you pay for in the hair care world. read more

I was just called by the salon 2 hours before my appointment to be told that my stylist (Sabirna) was running behind and could I come in 1.5 hours later. I explained that I could not, and the person who called said that there wasn't anything they could do, I either sit and wait or make another appointment on another day with another stylist, or she could cancel my appointment. This was my first experience with this salon as I am new to the area and I was referred. I have never had a salon totally flake in this way, I even suggested that I'd be fine with her splitting time between me and the other client and that suggestion was met with a negative, after she explained that splitting time was already factored into the 1.5 hour delay. I'm so upset, I can't even wrap my head around such terrible customer service. Beware, your time as a client is not valued by this salon. read more

I went to this salon yesterday, first I went to the wrong salon and the ladies could not have been nicer to me, they called the other salon for me to let them know I was on my way and they directed me perfectly. Christy did my hair for me and I went in for a highlite and I had some green that another salon had screwed up in my hair, so she not only completely took of that mess but she made my hair look absolutely beautiful. I got a hair trim, or what was supposed to be just a dusting of my ends last week, and I am so unhappy with it. I stressed that I didn't want more than an half an inch cut, for it to hardly look like a hair cut, and I went home with two inches off and a completely lopsided cut. After reading the reviews, I made an appointment with Nikki (sp?) since she was touted as THE curly-hair expert (Deva trained). I sat for 20 minutes into my appointment time. I eventually went up to the desk to see how far behind Nikki was. They went to check and said she'd be right with me. She was. She spent the next hour or so playing with and styling my hair - not much cutting. At the apparent end of my session I remarked that she hadn't taken much hair off and I'd been hoping that especially the hair framing my face could be shaped instead of going straight down (pulling my wrinkly face with it). She chopped the hair close to my face and didn't work it through the rest of the hair nearby. The result is a mullet-like chop with 2 lengths and no gradation. The haircut cost $85 and for some stupid reason, I tipped her $15 even though I knew it was a loser cut. Now I'm $100 down and still need to pull my hair back with a barrette. While she may be great with straight hair, I wouldn't advise any curly-girls to go to this place. read more

You can get virtually every service done here- from cut and color, manicures and pedicures, waxing and facials, to massages. I've gotten my haircut at jordan Thomas twice and absolutely loved the results. The salon seems to be very well run. I have curly hair so I'm very particular about how my hair is cut. Colleen, who is devacurl certified, did a great job cutting my hair. She cut my hair dry initially. After washing and drying, she made her final touches on the cut. It was exactly what I wanted. My first time there after seeing friends post about this place. Came in for a cut only. They have a rating system depending on how long you've been a stylist and how long you've been at the salon. I didn't really pay attention to that beforehand and my stylist, Marissa, was Level 1 (the top is level 4, I think). Marissa was top-notch. I have really liked my hairstylists her over the years at JT (Niki and Tori). But I recently left the saloon because of consistently poor and rude front desk staff. Just like today when I called to book a massage just to use up some old gift certificates.......the women who helped me actually raised her voice and acted like she was doing me a huge favor by answering the phone and doing her job. It is a shame, because overall, the quality of this saloon is more in line with what you would get in a larger market. And from that perspective the business is a great asset to Bel Air. I got a manicure pedicure here on Saturday morning, February 11, 2017. The manicurist was very nice; however, after I noticed other people were offered drinks and I wasn't until the pedicure part of my morning and then it was a half glass of water. The even more disappointing part came after leaving...that same day multiple nails had chipped and within less than 36 hours 2 of my nails the polish peeled right off completely peeled off. I've gone a few times and always left feeling like my cut looked nothing like the picture I showed to the stylist. I usually get my hair cut shoulder-length, so I know there's "less room for error" on short hair cuts. However, this last experience has left me looking for someplace new; my hair was initially cut shorter than I asked (ended up chin length rather than just above my shoulders) and was longer in the back than the front, and uneven in the front. I went back a couple weeks later to get it fixed by a new stylist ("just make it even") and ended up with it so short in the back that it was up to my neck line! Would rate this salon a 0 at this time Nicky, a hair "manager", actually yelled at me. Raised her voice and spoke over me throughout our entire phone conversation. Extremely rude and disrespectful. I left this salon with uneven Orange clumps of streaks in bleached blonde looking hair. I went in with blonde hair with lo lights and hi lights. Angel did my hair. Took 4 1/2 hours and I had to blow dry my own hair. Second time in a row this has happened with her. Has occurred previously. She screws up the color then lamely attempts to fix it. Charges $165+ tip. Once I sat for an hour with my hair in foil after the processing time ended because she was eating lunch! I have been a long time client. Probably over 8 years. Not always happy with service or hair but never complained before. This time, I want my money, $180, back. They are refusing. I would never have them attempt for a second time to fix the mess Angel made of my hair. Owner works there but could not care enough to handle her disrespectful employees nor does she care enough to concern herself with her employees incompetence or a customer's upsettedness at having her hair look like a clown. I have no choice but to file complaints with the Attorney Generals's office, the BBB, and file a lawsuit. And use social media to post the pics of my hair. I got my hair done for my wedding last July. Nikki was my stylist because they recommended her. Because the trial style did not hold, I had her do something different for my wedding. She scheduled a client before and after me, so I felt that she rushed doing my hair. I was extremely unhappy with the final look, so my makeup artist actually had to ask Nikki to fix my hair. She said, "what is wrong with it" and seemed agitated. This was my wedding day! The style didnt even hold through the reception. I was so disappointed by this experience and do not recommend this salon for wedding updos. read more
