My hair has grown a significant amount since moving over. We don't trim each visit and I can feel how much healthier my hair is. All around, great experience. My hair hasn't been healthier. I changed nothing in regards to my at home routine. I wholly contribute all good hair things to the products and care during salon appointments. Staff are friendly. When I explained that it is illegal to charge any type of fee on debit card transactions, the GM argued with me and tried to tell me it's not a credit card processing fee. Ironically, it just happens to be 3%! As a client, it is not my responsibility to pay your credit fee/overhead fee. That is your cost of doing business! Also, I believe you take that deduction as a business expense on your taxes. Most importantly, in all US states, it is illegal for merchants to charge a fee for using a debit card, including surcharges. This is because the Durbin Amendment prohibits debit card surcharges. While some states have laws restricting or prohibiting credit card surcharges, debit cards are specifically exempt, meaning businesses cannot add fees for using them. In this tough economy, I'm surprised a business would attempt a money grab for services that are discretionary in nature, and typically, only received as the budget allows.

I really appreciate that she's never tried to sell me products especially if I'm not particularly interested in them. She is great at looking at an image I bring in or description of what type of look I'm going for and matching it. I trust her with my hair color and my hair cut and refer my dearest friends to her. Most importantly, she is affordable! She never rushes your cut and color but does respect that your time is valuable. She makes her customers feel like they're the top priority in the salon. Based on that title, I felt confident she would know exactly what she was doing. I explained clearly that I wanted my greys blended with cool-toned grey highlights. I emphasized multiple times that I did not want blonde or yellow tones and was hoping for a more silver/white result. Uzma reassured me that this was her specialty and that she was very creative, which made me feel comfortable moving forward. During the consultation, she mentioned a $75 charge for a haircut, which I initially declined due to the high price. As the service went on, I checked in several times to confirm the highlights would not turn out yellow. I was repeatedly reassured they would be close to what I wanted. Unfortunately, the results were very disappointing. After the first toning, my hair was noticeably yellow. A second toning improved it slightly, but it still was not the cool grey tone I requested. I also noticed a harsh, visible line where the highlights began along my part, which looked unnatural and poorly blended. When I brought this up, along with my concern about the yellow tones, I felt my feedback was dismissed. I was told, "everyone else thinks it's white," which was frustrating as my opinion as the paying client should have been the priority. After spending about five hours in the salon, I decided to go ahead with the haircut. However, I was then told there wasn't enough time because my stylist needed to leave soon. After asking if someone else could do it, she ultimately stayed to complete it. In the end, what started as a very positive experience turned into a disappointing one. I left paying $368 for a result that looked worse than when I arrived. My hair appeared unevenly colored, with a stark line and noticeable yellow tones, and it felt damaged and brittle. I now have to seek additional services elsewhere to correct it. Based on my experience, I would not return or recommend this salon, especially given the high cost compared to the outcome.

She allots the proper amount of time for each client necessary to achieve their ideal look. Despite a very short consult time, she does deliver on what she promises. She is very attentive and has an innate ability to remember intimate details about every client. This is a very unique trait. Today I decided to go blonder than ever and I'm very pleased with my final look. Liz took the time to give me an excellent blow dry at the end of my cut and color. You truly walk out ready to attend an event. I have received many compliments on my hair since Liz has started doing it. Previous hairstylists have never made me walk away even the slightest bit content. A cut and color is expensive but you get a good amount of time with the stylist and walk away happy. I can't tell you how many times I've walked away wanting to cry after a hair cut or color. You can trust Liz with your hair and even let her run wild with an idea.... She does not disappoint. I wish the front desk staff were more pleasant however. You do not always get a welcome or pleasant goodbye unfortunately. Before that I lived in New England and the lady that did my hair cut it for 10-years. When you find a good stylist you stay with them. At least that is how I feel about it. A man's hair cut runs between $12 and $18 depending on the cut I suppose. I have been offered a discount several times but always pay $20 because a good men's hair cut is worth that much. I want to be fair to the stylist. Nonetheless, even $20 is cheap for a great cut. Before coming to DeChalet I tried several local establishments and was surprised at how "unprofessional" they were or how inexperienced the people cutting hair were. Perhaps inexperience is a better way to "put it." Regardless, when I walked in the stylist were busy but the woman sitting in the chair, a customer, convinced me to wait. She said she came all the way from Wilmington, DE to get her hair done by Charlotte because she was the best. Truly it was good advice. I have been getting my hair cut there ever since. The last time I was there a woman came in to get her hair fixed. She got it cut across the street, at another salon, and wanted a wig until it grew out and her hair, which was now too short, cut correctly. This woman was visibly upset and Charlotte asked me, now a regular there, if I could wait. She went right to work and performed a miracle for this lady. So I think people are discovering this hidden jewel in the Harbor Shops Center next to the dollar store.
