The service here is slow, and not professional. Waitresses take forever to attend to you before your meal. Never refilled drinks, or chips and salsa. We ordered fajitas, and they were okay. I have better ones at home with better cuts of meat. We also got tostadas, those were fine. Our waitress was on her phone causing her to only bring us two small plates or one plate at a time to our table. Our food arrived without tortillas, and we waited about 1 minute before I started writing this review, and we still don't have them. It's been at least 5 minutes. I saw them sitting at the window, ended up just getting them myself. When ready to checkout they had to track her down again. Hopefully that gets resolved soon read more

I did not spot too many options as I passed through Ruidoso Downs but I'm glad that Jorge's caught my eye. This place isn't fancy but it's delicious. I arrived during the super busy lunch rush but there was no wait right then. Five minutes later, the line is out the door. Oops. The lunch special was completely keto unfriendly. It beats up keto in the schoolyard and takes its lunch money. It was chips and salsa to start. Warm chips and a wet salsa that I somehow didn't wear. Main course took about five minutes - two enchiladas with rice and beans. I chose both green and red sauce and it was great. We ate at this gem twice while in Ruidoso. We have been all over Mexico eating different regional food and this is some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. The Green chile sauce is fantastic. On our last visit we had Chili Rellenos Burrito and suiza enchiladas. The caramel stuffed Churro is also off the charts. The service is excellent. I've been going to Jorge's for several years. The food is always good, but this review is not about the food. This is about the service.! Many times I just call an order and pick it up, my complaint is the wait time at the window. When I order to go, it's between 3-4 pm. The waitstaff just ignore the window like it's inconvenient for them. They look right at you every time they walk by and no one comes to the window. Today I waited 12 minutes and saw three different waitstaff look right at me. Finally, someone came, she asked me what I ordered, She brought my order and told me how much it would be, and I handed her the money. She then proceeded to wait on another table before bringing me my change. So another five minutes goes by. Now I've been there 17 minutes, My food is now cold, but she made sure that her table inside the restaurant got their food right out of the kitchen. I have ALWAYS tipped at window service! This was my last visit. You just lost a very good customer. read more

The food here is wonderful. I had the carnitas burrito smothered in green chili sauce and it was really good! My girlfriend had the tamale plate and it was really good as well. Salsa was very tasty. Jorges cafe was really great! They were busy when we first got there and had to wait about 10 min to get a table. There is no hostess or waitlist you just have to stand in line. The restaurant is super small but the employees work so hard! It's very efficient in there! It's also one of the cleanest restaurants I have ever been in before. The food was really great. The carnitas burrito was really awesome with the red sauce. The chips and salsa were really amazing as well. This is definitely where the locals come and I can see why! I will be back! read more

Sadly, I did not get any pictures of this places amazing chips and salsa or their ultra-spicy camarones a la diabla. I wasn't impressed by their location and the servers have never been overwhelmingly friendly in the 10 years I've been going to Jorges. BUT let me tell you something, this place has amazing food and doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't. Their food is always delicious and never disappoints. This is a staple restaurant for Ruidoso and although it's off the beaten track you have to stop be here anytime when in the mountains. read more

Best Mexican food in Ruidoso by far. Hands down. The menu is huge and your choices are endless. Now I love, and I mean love, the Carnitas Burrito served wet with the green sauce. I think I had it 3 times in a row. The menudo lacks Pata but is still very good and most people don't miss the pata. The only fair to not so great meal I ever had was the ground beef nachos. The ground beef had no flavor at all. I hate to say it but Taco Bell has better ground beef flavor. However after having the Carnitas and other meats, who wants ground beef anyway. If you are looking for a really good meal in Ruidoso, then Jorge's will make you leave satisfied that you have had one. read more

I called 5 times to place an order to go. My wife loves menudo. There was no answer (leave a voicemail, what??). So I drove to the drive thru and waited behind another customer for at least 20 minutes. My turn....the lady takes my order and informs me that the wait time was 40 minutes. I agree that their food is good but a 40 minute wait for someone to fill a container with menudo is obviously ridiculous. Because COVID closed down many of the restaurants we wanted to try in Ruiodoso Jorges was not first on our list. That being said, I am so glad we ended up going to Jorges Cafe.
