Cheese enchilada (Christmas) with a crispy beef taco.

Food is still amazing!! Just had the guacamole tostada and it was fresh and delicious!

A private dining area.

This is clearly one of the best Mexican restaurants in Lincoln county! This establishment rivals some of the eateries we have visited in Santa Fe! The ambiance is warm and welcoming, and with Covid, they have had to scale back their hours of operation, but nonetheless, it's a welcome delight to be able to enjoy a meal there with friends and family! I had the taco salad with steak, and it had the greens, cheese, tomatoes, guacamole, and the best marinated steak I had had in quite sometime. I will definitely be ordering this again the next time we return. My husband ordered ground beef enchiladas with their signature red sauce, and again, it never disappoints! It was delicious. My daughter ordered the cheese quesadilla and it was bubbled over filled with asadero cheese. It looked delectable! They follow safety protocols by spacing all parties at tables over six feet apart, and the wait staff is extremely attentive. We had our drinks topped off numerous times. We love coming here, and recommend it without reservation or hesitation!

For the ski town being a tourist trap, this modestly decorated with "recuerdos" from various towns in Mexico and even a Machete from the DR is enough to tell someone that this place is there to deliver. This mom and pop operation is perfect to satisfy your hunger! The owner was very friendly and welcoming, their plates were flavorful and generously portioned. My kids had the quesadillas and bean and cheese burrito plates which were both pretty big. My the wife had the aromatic chicken fajita plate that was big enough to feed two people. I asked for the house special to be able to try a variety of things to include the chimichanga, chicken enchilada and taco. All were very flavorful. *Note, you are in New Mexico after all so be mindful that some dishes bring the heat in their sauces and salsas so ask the server before you order. Besides the feral horses grazing, wandering the backside of the main strip and hiking trails, this lunch was our highlight to this town.

Soup Azteca (delicious!!)

If you are in Ruidoso this restaurant is a must stop by place. If I could rate it more than a 5 I would! First off, our server Norma is so sweet. When we asked what mole sauce was made of she explained it and went above and beyond by giving us all little samples of the mole sauce(it was delicious!). Also there salsa is SO GOOD!!! I don't know what they do differently but their food is superior to all of the other Mexican cuisine restaurants. Overall we had absolutely no complaints about anything and it's a great place to grab a bite if you are passing by or in Ruidoso. P.S. Some of there food is veryyy spicy (like burn your tongue off fiery) so if you have a low spice tolerance like me just ask Norma and she will tell you some great dishes to try. 10/10

The food was tasty. It was very slow though. I assumed that the delay was because they make most things fresh. No beer or wine.

Great shopping nearby, but not a great place for a bit to eat. A few others worth considering in the area for the authentic experience.

Good food done right...simple and tasty. Friendly folks in a funky setting. Sit in the back patio and get a Santa Fe feel.

But I had already…read morebeen looking for a quick cafe style place to eat tacos and I decided to just get back off the car to give this one a try. They have a free chips bar with several salsas. The chips were fresh and the salsas were tasty! I ordered chilaquiles, he recommended the red ones. The salsa was delicious (a bit too hot, and I can take hot) the chilaquiles chips were freshly fried and they were crispy and chewy, perfect to my taste. I paired them with a pineapple agua fresca, and it was also made from real fruit and delicious. I was very glad I decided to give it a chance. The food was way better than average. Pretty much the the best Mexican food I've had in Ruidoso. It had real depth and real Mexican tones. Not just some guy making Mexican food, but someone that knows the true depth of Mexican flavors.

My favorite item here was the burritos. They were a good size and had good flavor. My second…read morefavorite thing was the Horchata, it was so delicious and refreshing. The variety of salsa they had were quite good too, they varied in spiciness so I'm sure anyone could find one they'd like. The caldo de res was good, but I prefer it made with a different type of meat. The pozole could have used more hominy but that's just personal preference, it had good flavor but it was very spicy so keep that in mind if you can't handle heat. The place has plenty of seating, free WiFi, and good friendly service. The only thing lacking was ambiance, at least when I was there, there was no music playing, just the sound of other customers eating, and my thoughts. You order at the counter, they do have to-go orders, and they have a large variety of options on their menu so if you're hungry I'm sure you'll find something you'll like.

I ordered take-out to take back to my Airbnb nearby. The staff was super friendly, and my order came out within a reasonable time. However, the food was nothing exciting in terms of flavor and quality. First, I tried the jalapeno poppers stuffed with cheddar cheese. The cheese was okay- reminded me of Kraft cheese. The outer breaded portion of the poppers was bland and did not help the flavor profile at all. I just started eating the jalapenos after ripping off the breaded coating. The side salad looked decent and fresh, but no dressing was to be found anywhere. I made due and consumed it alongside the Chuleta a la Tampiquena, which was the thin-cut ribeye entree. The ribeye was average, as was the enchilada and rice. The onions and one green pepper on top helped, but the flavors just weren't popping like a fiesta! I could attribute this to the lack of freshness. The enchilada seemed barely baked, smothered in red sauce with barely any cheese. For context, I was home in 10 minutes, replating and reheating it again. The next evening, I decided not to roll the dice and cook my own green chili concoction the following evening. I don't know how the experience is dining in or having cocktails here, but I am not inclined to find out next time I'm in Ruidoso.

Unfortunately, the food was so bland and smothered in sauce & cheese, the salsa served at the table was green chili (not salsa) and super hot, the margarita was not tasty at all. We were hoping for solid tacos, enchiladas, and beans & rice based on the ambience and staff. The enchiladas were covered in a mediocre sauce and too much cheese, the chili relleno was under cooked and the rice tasted strangely like fried-rice. The best tasting thing was the beef taco but even that was weird bc it was a beef & rice mixture, but it was good.

The staff was incredibly friendly, and even though it was busy on our first visit, we were seated quickly. My husband loved the shrimp cocktail, and I ordered the New Mexico Omelette both times because it was that good! The portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable, especially compared to Texas. The only thing I wish they had was a spicy green chile salsa since New Mexico is famous for its green chile. The red salsa was good but not spicy. My oldest also thought the chorizo burrito was a little too greasy, but everything else was delicious. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Ruidoso!
