We found this little gem while visiting Ruidoso, and we loved it so much we came back twice! The restaurant is small, cozy, and full of cute decorations that match the charm of the town. The staff was incredibly friendly, and even though it was busy on our first visit, we were seated quickly. My husband loved the shrimp cocktail, and I ordered the New Mexico Omelette both times because it was that good! The portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable, especially compared to Texas. The only thing I wish they had was a spicy green chile salsa since New Mexico is famous for its green chile. The red salsa was good but not spicy. My oldest also thought the chorizo burrito was a little too greasy, but everything else was delicious. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Ruidoso! read more

This is our favorite place to come to when we visit Ruidoso for breakfast. The food is always very flavorful and absolutely delicious. I had the bean burrito with potatoes, cheese, and chorizo, with green tomato sauce on the side -- it was amazing and full of flavor. My mom had the chile relleno, and my dad had the menudo, and both were excellent. Everything tasted homemade and fresh. I had to order some burritos while in NM, so I found this place. Not all places have good food, something that is somewhat expected here in NM, people here are proud of their food. Luckily, this restaurant had some amazing burritos, in my opinion. The burritos here had the meat, beans, cheese, that's it. Not like Chipotle where they have 10 ingredients. But they were amazing. We are locals and this is our first time here at Garcia's. This place is amazing. I had the #2 combo. Chile relleno, shredded beef hard taco, pork tamale and enchilada with beens & rice. Wife had Chile relleno & shredded beef hard taco. It was all so good. The relleno had a thin coating which was really good and the hard shell taco was perfect with tender shredded beef. Very tasty. My lady and I were in town at the IMG when she started feeling ill. She was craving a soup but didn't think I could find a decent one. Then I found Garcias Cafe and their Caldo de Rez. Called it in to a very pleasant young lady that spoke Spanish. 15 min later I walked inside and was greeted warmly. Grabbed the soup and took it back to a very grateful lady. My favorite food to eat here is the Green Chile Pork Stew it never disappoints me. It's very delicious. I highly recommend it for breakfast,lunch and dinner. I have also tried their Menudo and Chile Renello so far anything I've eaten here has not disappointed me. I would say this is my favorite Mexican place to eat in.Ruidoso, NM. Also, the staff is very friendly and they're on it always making sure that you have everything you need and satisfied. The first time I went, the food was great and the service was OK. I went a second time and I was solo. The woman working told me to sit wherever. I sat, and then she proceeded to help two groups of men that came in behind me and leave me sitting alone with no menu, water, chips, nothing...I knew what I wanted to order and was excited to have it again, but she decided to help the tables of men and leave the single female that was waiting with nothing. I left because I was starving and on a short lunch break from the wildfire I was working on in the area. First time eating here and it was pretty good! The tacos had so much meat to divide into the 4 tacos, the salsa was very flavorful, good texture on the rice and the beans were good. They gave me 3 different salsas for the tacos and I liked all 3 but the orange colored one was my favorite. Great portion of food w the mini taco plate and the chips & salsa were good!! Marisol is a perfect server and the food was delicious. I had the green Chile pork. Best I ever had. It's like a green Chile pork stew. Pat had the quesadillas and she seemed to like them pretty well she cleaned her plate. Candidly, the sopapillas?were tough. So we will not order them next time. They were an option. So my five stars ignored them as Marisol's service was so extraordinary. Doesn't look like much when you drive by but the location is close to the shops and it's worth stopping in. We had a party of 5 and they originally said it would be a 25 minute wait but we were seated within 15 minutes. The server was friendly and had great recommendations. We ordered a burrito, fajitas, a kids cheese quesadilla and a steak plate. The food was very good! Stopped in here for dinner on our first night in Ruidoso. Wait staff was prompt to bring chips and hot sauce, and to get our drink order. I must say that the salsa was very tasty. I kept trying to figure out what was making it taste so good. Never figured it out, so just enjoyed it. The menu has a lot of offerings, but we both locked in on the combination plate with a chile relleno, cheese enchilada, crunchy beef taco, pork tamale, rice and beans. You also had your choice of sauce--red, green, or spicier green. We couldn't decide, so waitress said we could also have queso as our sauce, and we jumped on that. The chile relleno was delish, the enchilada and taco was good, but the tamale was probably the best I've tasted! Beans and rice were good, but I left them mostly untouched since I had bigger fish to fry. All in all, good dinner, attentive and friendly wait staff, and REALLY good salsa!!! read more

My family went to garcia's while on vacation. I ordered red pazole on the daily special. It was about $9. I ordered water. It was pretty flavorless, so I asked for some lime slices on the side, (thinking maybe 3 slices). The server brought me a small bowl of them and charged me $1.25, not telling me they would cost extra. When I went to pay my meal cost almost $13! I was trying to be conservative but instead of paying $10 for lunch, I paid closer to $15!! our waitress had a bad attitude on top of all of that. They charged gratuity on my bill, 18%. I always pay a tip regardless of that, but it's the fact that they force you to pay a percentage that annoys me. I am quite sure my aunt was charged for a few mustard packages she ordered as well. Ridiculous! The food was very mid. We went for breakfast and had a different waitress today. She also had a bad attitude and plunked a drink down on the table when I politely told her i ordered sprite, not water. Overall bad experience and I do not recommend. read more

Traveling to Ruidoso from Abq to visit some family. We woke up hungry as hell and those "grab and go" fruit cup and yogurt hotel breakfasts are garbage (You know it sucks don't try and defend it). We tried a few restaurants around town and all were closed due to lack of staff. Was informed by the front desk about this place.. and truly thought it was Garcia's Kitchen...turns out it was absolutely not my hometown fav.. but an awesome local Mexican restaurant. Called here and they were open with no wait! I'll admit the parking lot is definitely wonky since we aren't familiar with the area. The building was cute.. but hot. Sun shining through glass and a working kitchen really warm the place up. Literally. There also was this incessant ding each time a guy was going out the side door to the get food out to the curbside pickup folk. The service was pretty average (in the not bad way). Our waitress was so sweet and gave adequate time to settle in, order, and pay. The food was awesome. We split an order of x-mas (green and red chile for those out of state) huevos rancheros (basically egg enchiladas?). Thank goodness we split because the portion was heeefty (in a good way). The chile was hot as hell, a little bit..Tomato-y? Tomatillo-y? Not used to that kind of chile but it was SO good. Definitely will be back on our way back down next time! read more

Worst food we have gotten anywhere. Wife got a patty melt, dry tasteless and have no idea what kind of cheese was on it, it wasn't even melted, I had a chicken and bean burrito and the chicken tasted like it can straight out of a can..
