2 burrito plate. Basic burrito w mostly meat, steak for these and beans & rice
    Chris M.

The Ruidoso Downs location opened recently and I have found it to be the perfect lunch spot. My family and I have been eating here for lunch at least once a week for the last 3 weeks and we have not been disappointed. The burritos are fantastic and come with the right ratio of meat, beans and rice, plus guacamole, pico and sour cream if you're down w those condiments. Just ask what's on them and customize to your liking. The Campechano burrito was the best so far, steak and bacon w beans, cheese and rice!! They serve breakfast all day which is great for me if I skip breakfast before work! I've tried the chilaquiles once w red sauce and once w green sauce, I prefer the green but the red was tasty too. The huevos rancheros are very good, comes w warm tortillas. The breakfast burritos are massive and the chorizo is full of flavor! We've tried a few different taco plates and the Al Pastor is our favorite so far. You have to get one of their fresh Agua Fresca! Pineapple and watermelon are the ones I've tried and both are delicious! Medium size if you're alone and large to share. They have a serve yourself style chip and salsa area, the salsas are in individual containers and can be a little difficult to dip chips into, but it's good and helps you save room for your main order anyway. Try the carrots!!! Best escabeche vegetables I've ever had at a restaurant!

No. 5 taco & cheese enchilada plate with rice and beans. I requested no cheese on top for a semi vegan lunch.

My to go order was prepared very quickly. The food is great and what youd expect for a mexican restaurant.

I tried this restaurant for the first time. I had the California burrito. It was very big and really good. I highly recommend it.

Lots of french fries come with the platter. My husband had the catfish and fries. The catfish was a bit over cooked. The food was good, but not delicious. Without the dipping sauce the sandwich was quite dry. The service was fine, our waiter was a bit slow on checking up on things, however. All in all, would probably not return.

It's a beautiful place with a nice dining room and bar area. The menu has just enough to choose from that anyone should be able to pick something they would like. Nothing is too fussy and the prices are decent for a steakhouse in a small mountain town that depends a lot on tourism. I have been there for lunch, for dinner, by myself and with friends - probably over a dozen times over several years. Not once have I walked away feeling like I had a great experience. The service is usually decent but the servers always seem way more interested in chatting with each other or hanging out with other employees. On more than one occasion I've heard them complain about other customers or getting another table as more customers come in the door. The food is generally okay but nothing special. It's not a complicated menu but you can order the same thing more than once and who knows how it will show up to the table. Over or under cooked, way over seasoned or missing ingredients listed on the menu - this has happened to me several times. Walking into the restaurant you are rarely greeted by someone right away. It takes a while for anyone to notice you and then if someone does it's usually a busy server or someone who doesn't look like they work there. Today I was greeted by someone who was dressed like they were cleaning out their garage. Several times I've been seated at the only clean table in the room. By the time I've left, the tables have all been dirty and no one has touched them during my entire meal. A table was only cleaned if it was needed for someone else coming in. It's a really bad impression. Something needs to be done to isolate the kitchen from the front of the house. You can hear the kitchen staff yelling, cursing and playing loud heavy metal music throughout the dining room and bar. During meals I have learned a lot about the personal lives of the staff and not because I wanted to. All of these things are fixable. I keep going back because I'll hear that there is a new manager or a new chef but it seems like nothing ever really changes and it's a shame.

They were out of the wine my friend requested and did not have cranberry juice for a cran/soda for me. Not off to a good start. The bread was mediocre at best. And the server didn't offer to do olive oil/red wine mix for us. I was craving something fresh so I ordered a Caprese salad to start. There was nothing great about it. The mozzarella was thick and dense. I also ordered a garden salad and lasagna. The garden salad smelled and tasted like dirt - like it had not been washed - that got pushed to the side and uneaten. The lasagna - ugggggg - how do you screw up lasagna???? There were gobs of ricotta cheese on top of the dish - literally piles of cheese- and not in a good way. I scraped most of it off and set it aside. The dish itself was bland and greasy. Honestly, Stouffers makes better lasagna - truth. We were offered dessert but passed. Ben and Jerry's was a safer bet. Overall I'd rate this meal a 2 out of 10 - they had Diet Coke so that was a win.

The bubbly is served in individual mini bottles of quality prosecco, and you can decide on how much FRESH OJ you would like. Yes, I suggest indulging in the fresh squeezed OJ. They have an extensive menu of sweet (crepes, waffles, pancakes) and savory choices for breakfast and lunch. However, I decided on the Carne Adovado (slow cooked pork) breakfast. The portion size was perfect and not excessive like most breakfast spots. Everything was tasty and made me feel satisfied. Those red chile flavors had all the nuances for a breakfast party in my mouth. The potatoes were nicely prepared and free of the extra grease like the other breakfast spots. I would definitely repeat the Cornerstone experience when in Ruidoso again!
