They used to be very helpful. I bought a suit from them over a year ago and it is great. Recently I rented a tux for a wedding and the tux wasn't correct and the service was horrible. We used to shop at Jos A. Bank when it was a beautiful store with great quality clothing and excellent service, then it was bought out by Men's Wearhouse and their quality and service plummeted. Service at Jos A. Bank is now very sorely lacking, and the store is always a mess making shopping difficult, while their prices remain high. There aren't a lot of other choices so I'm sure they'll do okay, but it's usually my last choice of men's stores. read more

My husband needed a suit for a gala we were attending so we came here for the first time. The date was near so we were in a crunch. We walked in and all employees were busy. We were lost of where to look and luckily one of the employees got free and came over to help. My husband explained his predicament and he took us over to the area he needed. I can't remember his name, but he was on it. Took my husband's quick measurement to get an idea of what size to look for. Had my husband try on a few jackets to pin point the perfect size. When he figured out what he exactly needed, he had to go to the back since none were up front. When he got the jacket, he looked for a pants then took is over to the fitting room so my husband can try them on. As he was trying them on, he got someone from the back and explained we needed alterations done. She measured my husband in seconds like a pro. We then were taken up to the register and rather than just dropping us off to the worker who was working the register, our guy stayed with us til the end and took care if ringing us up. On the day of pickup tho we didn't get a call to let us know it was ready. We stopped in to see if alterations were done and they were. read more

We rented a tux here for our son's prom. They were extremely helpful in assisting us. Unfortunately the prom got rescheduled due to severe weather and we had to return the tux. It's late Tuesday afternoon. I need a suit to wear to an evening wedding on Saturday. Alterations to the 2 pair of suit pants I brought in will take 2 weeks. A young lady named Loretha, wearing a tape measure around her neck, navigates my slightly expanded waist and me through a number of options until we land on a very classy gray that only needs slight alterations to the hem. My husband and I went in hoping to update his wardrobe for an upcoming trip. No one greeted us. No one waited on us. No one offered any help. The store was arranged in, what I would call total chaos. Three people were attending to a young man in gym shorts and his mom who were there purchasing a suit. Another lady working there said she'd be right with us. She was too busy. We were in the store around 10 minutes trying to find anything in my husband's size. We could not, so we left. I will NEVER be back. I do NOT recommend THIS store. read more

First, I'm an oak hall shopper but sometimes JA Bank just makes more sense. Like last October when I bought my 14 yo stepson his first suit for a wedding. Bio dad wouldn't do it. Azzh0le. Suit was fine but had to order a dress shirt which I paid for with the suit and all accessories with it. Shirt never arrived, no phone call, no email, no refund. Kid had to wear a Target shirt with sleeves rolled up. I didn't pursue it. Swore I'd never go back. Went back today for a simple white button down and tie for an event next week. Again, cheaper than oak hall. Walked in, needed my measurements for perfect fit. Not greeted, 2 people working, one with a customer while a lady was opening boxes. Finally approached her and said I need a shirt and tie and get measured. She said ok and walked off to do something else. Waited another 5 minutes. Other worker walked past me while helping his guy but didn't even greet me or inquire if I needed any help or had help. Not one word. Another customer walked in and after a few minutes he looked like he wasn't getting anywhere either. Woman who said she'd help me was on her knees by the register doing something with a printer it seemed. I literally needed 3 minutes. I walked out and guess no one noticed. Will never come back, and my son needs a new suit for a November wedding. I like to be smart with my money. Like buying a suit for a 24 year old who will wear it twice a year, maybe. My money goes farther at JA Bank. I'll overpay at oak hall but will be treated like a boss. read more

A lot of hate on here but we had a completely different experience than these reviews. We walked in and Kevin, ask for Kevin!!!!, came to help us immediately. My husband was clueless on the groomsmen suit he was suppose to be getting and Kevin was very patient with us. Kevin found us the suit fast and my husband was able to try it on. They were a month behind on tailoring, which didn't meet our deadline, but he sent us to someone else who got it done! Only downside was that the store was a little messy and needed a good sweep but Kevin's customer service to me, outweighs the messiness of the store. Kevin is the man! read more

I walked into Jo's A Banks this morning planning to spend between $300-500.00. I was not greeted or asked if I needed help by the two sales people standing at the counter talking to each other. I walked around for several minutes not finding what I was looking for. As other customers came in I noticed they were not greeted or helped. I left after about 15 minutes. To begin, they didn't have enough suits of the same color for the whole wedding party, so the rental was 50% off. The bill still came to 157.00 for one day. Maybe that's a good deal; I don't know. But now it's nut-cutting time: today is Thursday and the wedding is Saturday. I call to see if the suit has come in. I'm on hold for thirty minutes, and no one ever comes to the phone. I hang up and call back and a guy said, "Oh, yeah, it's here." As soon as this wedding is over I'll return the suit and never go back. Rent a suit from Banks if you have to, but I certainly don't recommend it. read more

Walked in needing a suit and was greeted by an older man with glasses. never asked for his name but should have. He measured me and mad a weird face. He directed us to the suits and made rude remarks about me being skinny the entire time. He asked me "do you even eat?" and made other rude statements of such. I have nothing but great experiences in the store. They have helped me several different times on selecting the "right fit " for my pants and shirts. NOW the online customer service is whole different story ... currently that have put a hold on over 880.00 in my account because of there "server" having issues .. then talked to a supervisor and "Britney" which then informed me that it was my fault and there was nothing she could do. She open a case ticket and very rudely told me that if it doesn't fall off in 7-10 days I could reach back out ... wait your system messed up and now I have to wait on my funds ..... I have been told 2 different times by a "supervisor" Brandon and tyshawn that there is no one else I can talk to about them and/or that someone will call me but of course that hasn't happened. If it was for Gwendolyn and the staff in the store I would never shop with this company again. read more

How do I accurately explain my experience with this store in a manner that truly conveys what occurred? I'm not really sure how to explain the overall experience in this store but I can tell you that the vibe is absolutely disgusting!. I've been to many of their locations from Chicago to Jackson to Florida but this one has the worse customer service I've experienced in any of the other locations. I went in the first time and purchased a few items and noticed it then as well but dismissed my feelings initially in an effort to be open-minded. First off, there were many customers in the store greeted upon entry and/or being assisted but no one greeted nor acknowledged my presence. I walked around a little bit and while there, one associate after another passed by, gave an awkward, forced smile but never uttered a word. I was just about to walk out when finally an older gentleman stopped by to ask if I needed any assistance and helped me find what I was looking for. When I left that day, I vowed I'd never ever return however one of the items I purchased did not fit so unfortunately I had to return to exchange. Lucky me, right?? So, the second time there were a few people in the store so I walked to the counter and waited in line. A young lady was helping someone, an older man was standing and a younger man was scanning garment bags. The older man then gives that same awkward, forced smile accompanied by a low voice that said "someone will help you soon" and then the young man says "Yes, do you need a refund or to return?" I replied, "No, I would like to exchange" at which he said he'd assist me at another register. When we arrived at the other register, I asked him why did he automatically ask if I had a return/refund? He said "Well you had a bag in your hand so I just assumed" Classic, right!!?? Disgusting answer honestly especially from the person who said it. Anyway, they actually did not have the size I needed so I had to end up refunding them anyway which as I walked back to my car, believe was truly a blessing! The fact that I gave this store even one dime of my money sickens me to no end! The blatantly negative, less than open, clearly biased, condescending and unwelcoming vibe in this location is palpable. It's very disturbing but I'm not at all surprised. The only reason I ended up visiting is because the day I needed my items, Brooks Brothers was having connectivity issues with their overall store systems and their registers were down. While I'll never ever return to this store, I believe it's important that others know before visiting. After having the same kind of experience days apart, I'm sure they are well aware of the atmosphere in this location and that it's a part of their overall culture. Never forget that our world is a huge place filled with many types of people of diverse backgrounds. Assumptions are never good because this can potentially cause you problems you don't want or need as history has shown. You would take care to remember this when dealing with each and every one of your customers. read more

I used them for my wedding tux rentals and had a horrible experience. Not only were some of the employees extremely rude (there were a few that were so helpful), but they got our order wrong MULTIPLE times and then proceeded to try to blame us for it. If you are getting married I would recommend avoiding this place for rentals. They caused several extra trips to the store to fix their mistakes and caused extra stress with very little reassurance. read more

What a deeply annoying and unsatisfying experience. Something about me apparently screams "I'm invisible; don't offer to help me." I needed to get a simple, basic suit for a wedding I'm going to next week. The signage in the store made it completely unclear how much anything actually cost, with about 70 different confusing "sales" happening at once, and I couldn't have asked any of the employees to clarify because two of them were helping this one older couple find a suit for their adult son who was present but clueless, and another employee was doting on a mom and teenage son who showed up after I did. I was somewhat joking about the invisibility, but I actually felt like no one could see me when an employee actually backed right into me while I was picking the completely orderless shelves: the sizes ran something like "30S, 56L, 42R, 44S, 32L, 50R." In other words, complete chaos where you have to have a keen eye just to find the size you're looking for. I am a very average-sized person. Nothing in this store fit me. I might have asked about alterations, had the staff been more accommodating, but again, I was invisible to them. read more

I rented a tux for a out of town black tie event. At the time I was fitted for the tux i tried to be clear that the event was in New Orleans. I was told the tux would be ready in plenty of time and not to worry. Well, needless to say it was delayed. Delaying our departure and rushing the entire process. When I did arrive to pickup the tux it was in a dilapidated garment bag. When dressing for the event the cuffs were falling out and the bow tie was missing. Neither of the managers Gwen or the assistant ever returned my calls. The corporate customer service couldn't even get anywhere with this location. Corporate finally offered me a minimal credit. read more

My first time at Jos A. Bank and my last, which makes me sad because it's the nearest men's store to my house. I went in with the plan to buy a single suit. BUT, since the salesman told me the suit I picked out was on sale for $199, I decided to get another of a different color, also $199 I was told. The only visible price on the suits was ~$589. Salesman was very nice. He measured and marked the pants. After a bit of concern on my part that the pants were too baggy, I asked to have to tailor come out. He agreed, and marked the pants to adjust the "peg". We did the same with the second suit. I was happy that I was getting two decent suits for $199 each. Then came the checkout. Both suits rang up as $279 each. The salesman consulted with the manager (this all occurred right in front of me) who simply told him "Nope, read the book". "But I already told this gentleman that they were $199. It was my mistake". "No, those have never been $199". "They were $199 two days ago!, he responded. She finally agreed to knock some off, but wouldn't meet the quoted price. Didn't apologize, never looked at me. I ended up paying $239 for one (only because I was desperate, and they promised the alterations would be done by my Tuesday deadline. I didn't but the second suit. The salesman, whose personality I rather liked, was clearly perturbed at the manager. Were I not in a pinch, I would have canceled the whole transaction. I felt like I was at a bad used car dealer. I went to pick up the one suit today. Put it on, it was missing the button on the waistband. The (different) salesman who handed me the suit to try on was at the other end of the store, so I took it upon myself to go in to the back of the store and found the tailor myself. He put a button on for me. He was nice fellow. I think the manager made a poor decision. I'd like to think if I'd been in her shoes, I'd have eaten the difference, and counseled my sales staff in private. Instead, she turned off potentially loyal customer. I wouldn't buy a pair of socks from this store at this point. By the way, I would've paid $400 for the suit if that had been the price I was quoted. read more

Husband found a great deal on a suit he liked so we also bought ties, shirts, etc. too. The pants were the only thing that needed to be tailored, and they were nicely pressed and on time when I returned to pick them up. However, one pants leg was shorter than the other by 1/2". When I took them back to the Germantown location to ask them to correct it, I was treated like TRASH. I told them that it was obvious when he put on the pants that one leg was shorter than the other, which is what prompted me to measure the inseam and the out-seam. The manager proceeded to tell me how I was wrong, that his legs may not be the same length (newsflash, he awears pants practically every single day, I think I'd know that), and what we 'should' have done the day he was measured (um, that's YOUR job). They spoke to me like I'm an idiot, which prompted me to leave. As I was walking out, the manager then started to backpedal but I was done. The customer service here is abysmal. read more

I've given this location and Jos A Bank enough of my time, patience and money. No more. The staff and management at this store have long been inadequate, inattentive, and now, under trained. Today I walked in and it took a UPS delivery man, who saw me standing waiting for some help, to get an associate to approach me. When she did, her inability to assist me made me wish the UPS guy would have just waited on me instead. She obviously was a new employee bc she knew nothing about any item in the store. Continually checking with her manager on every single question I had. Bottom line, I went here just to save money. After my last experience, I'd rather spend extra on much higher quality products and a far more helpful staff at locally owned establishments than waste one more penny in this franchised outhouse. read more

I have been waiting 4 months for a pair of pants. A had a friend that worked there who got me a discount on a suit and the manager approved it. I did not realize that this would delay my pants for 4 months. Whenever I call and ask about it they tell me to wait for them to call me. I never received a call. When I called 2-3 months after ordering the suit they told me that they had been out of the materials to make the suit and they just got them in. I know that this was a lie. I got the suit to wear to interviews and I ordered it a month before I actually needed it to make sure that it came in on time. I had to go to the interviews without a suit. I have never seen such bad customer service in my life. I still have not received my suit. read more

I have been a customer of Jos A Banks for a number of years, I bought a suit there a few months ago and it started to come apart on one of the pant legs. So I took it in to see if they would do anything to assist, they did nothing but try to tell me where to go to maybe get it fixed! Jos A Banks in Memphis just lost a very good customer for life! I'll never shop there again, particularly the one on Poplar in Germantown in Memphis! I give them a big F in every way possible! They forgot who the customer was! read more

My Fiance and I came to Joseph A. Banks thinking we would get a better experience and suit for our upcoming wedding. Many of our friends had used Men's Warehouse and we decided to go a different route. That was a HUGE mistake. The tuxedo rentals employee is incompetent and I had to return three times to finally get all of our rentals correct. They never seemed to get the color combination right (which I will admit was very simple; blush vest and tie on groomsmen and White vest and bowtie on Groom). I called up to the store to correct the NUMEROUS issues with our order. The employee said it was all entered and correct. I had a gut feeling I needed to go to the store and confirm so I did. When I got to the store I asked the employee to read to me off of their computer what my order details where and NOT a single correction had been made in the system. I insisted the employee enter it all in while I waited and I had him detail it out for me at the end. In the end my dad still had to return to the store to have them correct his suit color combination again due to the high level of incompetence they hold. Now the suits are being delivered not in a group but individually and I am sick to my stomach thinking they may not be right. Suit rentals should not be the ONE thing making you sick before your wedding day. I highly advise any brides and grooms to head to Men's Warehouse over Jos. A Banks. Men's Warehouse is far more experienced and overall better customer service. read more
