    Lunch carnita taco

It's hard to like Tex-Mex outside of Tex when you live in Tex. Jose Peppers is a notable exception. We've had them catered for family parties and stop in for lunch after church when we are visiting in Kansas. The spices are well balanced, salsa has appropriate amounts of cilantro and the white queso is tasty - particularly with spinach. I love that they offer lunch portion meals Mon-Sun. All in all a good experience!

My boyfriend's all-time favorite restaurant. I cannot believe how great the prices are here for the quality of the food. The Espinaca dip is delicious and unlike anything I've ever had before. Every time we're in Kansas, it's very likely you'll find us here!

Consistent and flavorful. The menu has plenty of options including Tex-mex and traditional. The service is always good, staff are pleasant. Servings are a good size for the $$. It's clean and there's plenty of space. I picked up a to go order of chips and Espinaca con queso to go with taco night at home- and got home with 1/3 bag of chips. Always check your food when ordering take out :( love this place though!!

Service was great. They came by to check on us many times. Used a Tuesday deal for a taco salad and my husband got the anniversary meal for $14.99.

Food was good but not our favorite.

3.5 it was good, not disappointed but not in a hurry to come back either. I ate the Taco Burrito with a strawberry margarita.

I went with a group of 4 adults and 2 babies, and we were sat in a very long table within minutes. It was pretty tight seating for all of us, and we had to wipe down the booth before sitting. The server brought out unlimited salsa and got us our drinks. My sister and I ordered a full order of tacos (which usually comes with 2), and the server only got us the lunch special with one taco. It was pricey for the amount of food that we got, however, the tacos were tasty. My friends ordered the fajita, which came with two tortillas to enjoy. The little girls got the mac n' cheese with fries. It was nothing too special, but we liked how they split up the order in half and it was a good amount of food. Overall, the food was pretty good, but expensive for the quality that we received. Also, the bathrooms were clean and nicely kept.

I started my dinner search with "margarita near me" and Jose Peppers popped up and it was 4 minutes from my hotel. Ordered my margarita and the delivered chips and salsa. The chips were light and crispy and the salsa very fresh. My first margarita was a little disappointing, it was definitely a weak mix and watered down. But my carnitas tacos made up for margarita. They were perfect. The steak was cooked to perfection, the spice on them was just right. There was a great blend of fresh onions, cilantro and cheese. The verde sauce was fire! My replacement margarita was much better then the first one!

My dine-in lunch experience was very good. The pollo magnifico e-mail lunch special included a baked, cheese covered chicken burrito, refried beans, Mexican rice, and complimentary chips and salsa. It was a great value at $4.35. The burrito had a good amount of moist and tasty white meat. Everything was fairly mild, but tasty, with two bottled hot sauces available to spice things up. I liked the fast and efficient service (chips in two minutes and entree in another eight minutes), and the nicely done, clean interior with adult contemporary background music, plenty of TVs, a large bar area, and a patio. Every member of the staff I encountered was helpful and pleasant. Nice!

Secondly, when I went home, I was just expecting tacos, and found this wide array of grilled vegetables in my takeout order. Thirdly, several of the tacos were insanely delicious. The server was pretty chill when I was placing my order. And the music in the background was Bad Bunny style, fun stuff.

Respectfully, nothing was fundamentally wrong with the food, but it didn't distinguish itself. I'd eat there again if nearby, but wouldn't travel for it. Service was good for ordering and receiving time. From order to table was approximately 10 minutes which is exceptional considering the quantity of food ordered. The tables needed to be wiped down, and the table service was pretty much non-existent. You order your food at a register, seat yourself and that's that. No waitress or water; you have to buy bottled water. Price point was ~$65 for the taco platter and another ~$10 for the quesabirria tacos. This filled up the family of 4 with leftovers. There is a condiments / salsa bar but customers ran through it and there was mixed food between all the containers. The pickled red onion has their own kick to it which I enjoyed and their salsas/hot sauces are good. The decor is pretty straightforward, tables and chairs, with typical music you'd expect from other Mexican restaurants. Futbol on the TV's and old movies on others. There is a chef at the opposite end of where you order your food, hats off to that man he was very receptive and worked very hard. He helped with getting our table wiped down, our waters, and to go stuff for our leftovers, if he sees this, I want him to know I appreciated his efforts. This review is for my first time experience in Overland Park. I do not know if this is normal or because it was a Sunday that this is what the experience is but I will say, If they offered free water, had a busser, and kept the place more tidy it easily would elevate the rating.

The service was okay! Nothing super special but they answered questions and were helpful at the counter. This was our first time here so we ordered a few things to sample and share amongst ourselves. The first thing we had was the chips and queso, which I thought was a bit expensive at $7.99 but not too bad. The queso was fairly spicy but otherwise nothing special. I usually love queso so it surprised me how neutral I felt toward it! The chips were good, thin and light with a crispy bite to them. We unfortunately didn't get to try the salsa, noticing only at the end of our meal that there was a sauce bar near the counter! The birria tacos were also...okay. They were very juicy but not very uniquely flavored compared to everything else we tried. The meat was tender and I loved the texture of the tortilla, but didn't care for the massive handful of cilantro dropped on top of everything on the plate. The dipping liquid (birria sauce?) was alright! It was the same flavor as the tacos themselves so it didn't add much, but it definitely wasn't bad. The "main course" of what we ordered was a combo of soft chicken tacos, rice, and beans. The chicken tacos were unfortunately very cold by the time we got them which was a bit strange, as almost everything else was hot! They tasted good but I'm really not a fan of eating cold chicken, so I passed them off to my friends. The beans were just okay. There's really not much to say about them. The rice also left me disappointed! I typically devour Spanish rice. Not only was it cold, there were also odd, hard grains of rice mixed in. Not enough to get one every bite but enough that the experience of eating it was off-putting. It was also quite bland. Another note: While we were eating, there was this constant loud droning coming from the air conditioner. I'm a MASSIVE fan of air conditioning so I'm grateful it was on in the first place, but that is something they really need to get fixed. Two women seated near us actually got up and walked outside after commenting multiple times about how disturbing the noise was. My experience here was definitely a mixed bag but it leaned toward the positive, so we'll likely try them again! They had several other menu items I'd like to try, including some American fare that I found intriguing.

My build-your-own weekday lunch ($8) included choice of entrée, choice of beans and rice. It was served just ten minutes after I ordered at the table, which gave me time to dig into the complimentary chips and mild (with a little kick), somewhat chunky salsa.
