My oh my, let's just start off by saying I visited this place twice in one week. I couldn't get it off my mind, so I had to have seconds! Starting off with the inside, they're constantly cleaning the tables and there's plenty of places to sit! They have an open salsa bar, which I highly recommend the guacamole salsa, mild, and their pickled carrots and jalapeños. I normally order their breakfast burritos and they're pretty much big enough for 2, so I save half for my next meal. Delicious scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, cheese, I mean I can go on and on. I've also dived into their horchata, which is a perfect balance of sweet with cinnamon with rice flavor. I'll take gallons please! The service is super quick, very kind and very efficient. Stopped by for taco Tuesday. Did you know you can get 5 tacos for $5.99 all day Tuesday? They say chicken or beef & soft, crunchy or fried. I ordered fried but they gave me crunchy. Not too bad about it because they're still yummy. But. Their fried tacos are soooo good! The staff is always friendly & service is quick. I can't comment on the ambiance because I've only ever used the drive thru. Maybe if I go inside next time, they will be more likely to give me what I order. also, the queso is great! This place was rocking & rolling at lunch time. Had to be a little patient for the food with the crowd and drive thru. The al pastor was one of the better I've had in KS/MO! Not amazing, still looking for that, but very good! The Carne Asada tacos were solid. These tacos are huge, so 2 is plenty & I can put some food down. Maybe a side of beans next time. The ads for this place have been popping up on our social media timelines for a couple months so we decided to finally try it out. We ordered the Tuesday special with 5 crispy tacos, birria tacos, Tripe taco, and adobada tostada. We got our order to go because the dining area didn't have too many clean tables available. We did find the cleanest table and wiped it down to sit and wait. Our food took about 15 minutes before it was done. I think they focused more on the drive thru orders because those seemed to go out pretty quickly. My expectations were fairly low for the crispy tacos special, but I'm cheap and wanted to give it a try. Chicken and ground beef tacos are rarely that good to me but the shredded chicken tacos were a nice surprise. They were nice and flavourful and pretty juicy. The ground beef tacos were as expected but still seasoned well. My daughter really liked the birria meat and consome. Their consome was heartier than some other places. She liked that it had so much meat in the consome. My bf tried the tripe taco and really liked it. We only ordered one for him to try and their tacos are pretty big so he barely had room to try other tacos! The adobada was very well seasoned. The tostada was also pretty big and could be a meal itself! Their salsa bar options were ok, kinda on the bland side. Overall we enjoyed our meal. Definitely get your money's worth here. WHOA these portions!!! For $11.99 you can get a combo with rice and beans and that'll keep a grown man satisfied! The ambiance and service were just okay, but we were also there at 9:30 pm. That's a huge plus about this place - they're open ultra late in OP (some nights, midnight or 2am!?!?) something nigh on unheard of in this town. I had the carnitas chimichanga combo and I wouldn't change a thing about it - crispy and savory and slathered in fresh mashed avocado and sour cream. The rice was fluffy and filled with peas and carrots. I didn't care as much for my partner's steak tacos, I thought the meat was a bit dry but he seemed to enjoy them. Definitely give this place a try! They are a much MUCH better choice for late night munchies than Taco Bell. read more

This new Mexican restaurant was already up to speed on their second day of operation. I enjoyed the good portions, the complimentary salsa bar and the fast, accommodative service. My two chicken tacos combo ($10.99) was brought to my table just two minutes after I ordered at the counter. It included two 5" hard shell tacos and generous portions of rice and refried beans. The tacos had good amounts of moist, tasty, shredded chicken, while the rice was moist, and the beans were nice and creamy. Some menu prices at this location were higher than the prices posted online - not cool. I noticed a clean and nice dining area with Mexican background music and a salsa bar with five salsa options without labels. Labels showing heat levels would have been helpful. They offered a patio, a drive-thru, early hours, late hours, daily specials, a kids' menu and breakfast all day. I found this location to be a good 3.5-star Mexican fast-food option. Always fun to check out a new business! Their front counter is simple with a single register. Their dining room seats plenty and has some bright fun colors. The food we sampled was good. I try to eat on the healthier side, which I found a great choice in the fajita plate with tons of grilled chicken and peppers! And those plates are huge! So you'll definitely get lunch for the next day as well. For their grand opening, they had a mariachi band! So fun! I'm sure it won't be a regular thing though. One thing I'd love to see added to the menu is black beans! I know the pinto is classic, but the black beans are so easy to add to a menu and give us customers some more variety to choose from. I love that we can just order online and go pick it up. Pricing is good for how much food you get. I got the combo platter which came with rice, beans, beef/chicken/shrimp for 14$. If you get just chicken it's 12$ and it's two meals in one! The salsa packets that they give are actually spicy AF so be careful if you're not good with spice. read more

We got a coupon from Value Pack in the mail. The lady at the counter was not the friendliness person and didn't accept the coupon for one combo. She didn't add my drink. I had to ask for it and she said I didn't charge you for one. I said but I ordered it. So she ran it through the payment with great disgust. As I was getting my drink, another table got up and also told her they didn't get their drinks. The cook was very happy; singing while cooking. Went up to get out food and she said, oh I put down for to go! But the food tasted very good. Luckily we all ready had the take out containers because we had lots of food left. We drove from south KC to try it out. We are spoiled with complimentary chips and great service at some of our other Mexican places so probably won't return. read more

I went to the location on Wornall with a coupon for 1/2 off. I ordered 2 smothered Burritos with rice and Beans. I was the only customer. I got home and was very disappointed. I hope Abelardo's does well in this location. I've seen this place go from Arby's to ChiTown (RIP, it was the best) to Taco Via, and now Aberlardo's. Since C19, the late night options have really dried up unless you want Taco Bell or Whataburger. Cool to see a place that is open super late - 2a on the weekends! For being in such a nice part of town, this shopping center has really gone downhill in recent years. The parking lot is a mess, curbs are crumbling, and the landscaping is terrible. The curb appeal is certainly lacking, and it was hard to tell if they were even open the night I went. I went around 10p one evening after working late, and ordered the Carne Asada burrito meal. It came with two giant burritos, rice, and beans. It was a ton of food, I saved one of the burritos for the next day. I thought the flavors were underwhelming and the steak had no flavor or seasoning. It tasted like diced up boot leather. Not sure if I just came at a bad time, but the meat was super dry and tough to get through. The rice and beans were good, and I'll be back to try something other than the steak. read more

Generous portions for a great value. We sampled three entrees and the churros. Birria burrito was our favorite. Full of flavor but I wish it came with the signature birria dipping sauce. The fajitas were a little bland and shrimp were not the best. Since it's seafood, I stayed safe and didn't eat all of them and will probably not order seafood from them again. The stuffed peppers were super cheesy and tasty for me but had mixed reviews from the table. The sweet finish with our churros was much appreciated by all. Sadly the queso we ordered was not packed into our bag, so we were missing that item. read more

Finished a major project and the wife and I were REALLY hungry; their Taco Tuesday Special looked really good, 5 deep fried/soft/hard shell taco's for only $5.99 - AND - we've NEVER dined here before .................... And We're Off; Located on Shawnee Mission Pkwy just West of Metcalf on the North side of the road !!! Walking in, there are posters in the windows of specials and entree's and desserts ..... Looking Good So Far! When you walk inside, the ambiance is still a bit like the previous burger joint was, but there was PLENTY of places to sit so I was fine with it. The menu is on a lit show board above the open kitchen area; and be ready for a list of choices that will knock your socks off - I'm talking Southwest Boulevard Kansas City REAL Mexican fare made in a fast-food style that doesn't lose anything during the meal prep! You first timer's are going to have to take a few minutes to get thru everything but they have Combination Plates, BIG Burritos - AND - a Breakfast menu that reminds me of living in Texas and eatin' good before work or taking my time on the weekend! But we were here for the Taco Tuesday Special so taco's it was. The wife ordered 5-soft shell shredded chicken taco's and I had the 5-fried shell beef taco's. We also saw the poster for the Cheesecake Chimichanga which she ordered and I just HAD to try the Raspberry Filled Churro's. Now it was off to get our drinks and sauces. I will note the drink prices were expensive, I could have had another order of Churro's for that price so we opted for water. But the SAUCES BAR was really good. There was a thin mild green sauce, a nicely thick guac sauce that had a bit of a bite, an ominous looking dark chunky medium sauce and a thin hot red sauce. Also on the bar was a pickled pepper/carrot/onion mix that was marinated with the jalapenos. So, we've got our drinks (waters) and sauces; time to sit. We decided to sit close to the front since we were first timers ourselves and just stared at the menu. Over a dozen combination plates, close to THIRTY burritos from Carnitas to Carne Asada, and Fish to Beef Tongue/Cheek to Tripe. Enchiladas, Tostada's, Torta's, Taco's, and an amazing breakfast menu .... I'm out of breath just going over it all again !!! And Then Our Order Came (pix below) - All I'm going to say is I'm a big guy with a major Dad Bod ... those 5-fried beef taco's filled me up; they are no joke, with a goodly amount of meat and toppings. We wanted to try something different as far as Mexican food goes so we finally tried Abelardos. We went inside and ordered takeout although this location does have a drive-through. The lady working the counter was extremely nice and polite. The restaurant itself was really clean, the tables were clean nicely decorated vibrant colors just no TV. Ordered the birria tacos, a fish taco and a half order super nachos. The birria tacos had really tender shredded beef but could have used a little bit more seasoning to them and a bit more cheese but overall are pretty good, you get three tacos in the order. The fish taco was loaded with lettuce as you can see in the photo so much so I couldn't tell how much fish was actually in the taco. And ate two pieces of fish, pico de gallo and some sort of like ranch dressing. The fish was fried a little bit too hard, but had an overall decent taste to it. The ranch with the lettuce and the pico did work is a great combination on the taco. The stand out item was the 1/2 super nachos for this being a half order the container was packed and when I mean packed packed, it felt like 3 to 4 pounds worth of food in the container, you have ground beef beans, cheese, guacamole, queso all over chips, which were fresh. I'm scared to see how large a fool would be given the size of quality of the half order. Overall not bad. Will probably be back & trying them again soon. read more

I did uber eats and was missing a Tamale with Sc and a Tamale with rice, sour cream and guacamole and a taco. I reported it to Uber Eats and they told me I didn't qualify for a refund. I tried to call the restaurant but no one picked up. The one tamale I did receive was good but don't do uber eats from this place because they can short you and you can't do anything about it. Soooo good and great price. Portion size is huge. You get a nice full plate for cheap. Chicken was seasoned great, made with dark meat, they didn't skimp on it at all. Lots of sauces to choose from, fresh sides. My only complaint is the sour cream is pretty thin and runny, and I prefer a lot more heat with my sauces. You can fill up and be stuffed off $20 for 2 people here. It's nice not feeling like you you are getting chinced out of every penny. Highly recommend! read more

Ordered take out of the beef and chicken tacos and a carnitas torta! All were really good! The tacos had a generous portion of protein and stayed crispy even for take out! The torta bread was soft and chewy as it should be and the carnitas were flavorful and juicy. The queso looks unimpressive but a great flavor with their chips. And they don't get soggy on the drive home. * Taco meat that tastes like...just seasoned beef and not a watery, filler laced mess? Oh yeah! * Burritos that are absolutely stuffed with filling and not mostly tortilla? You bet, and their tortillas have that chewy, translucent quality of the authentic South Texas Tex-Mex places I love. * Refried beans and rice that aren't overcooked or taste like an afterthought? Check! Some of these best I've had and they are consistently good. * Choice of salsas that don't come from a packet? Yes! They have an entire salsa bar! * Large portions? 100% We always feel like we get our money's worth from this place. * Kids meals that our kids want to eat?
