I was referred to Dr. Aranez because my OBGYN no longer performs surgery. My first impression was very off. Considering I went on with my appointment the same day my sister passed away. So he came in and was doing "doctor talk". Like this has to be done, these test and imaging has to be done, etc. I remember he asked about pain, if I had any in the past. I said "yes, it was like a dull ache" then he said "you're just saying that because now you know it's there" and I told him, "no, I had pain, don't dismiss my comment about my body" then there was an awkward silence. I apologized and told him "sorry for being short, my sister passed away this morning". He apologized and gave his condolences. We continued with all the tests and imaging. I had an ovarian cyst, that needed to be removed. I feel like everything went so smooth. Results were getting back quickly, the pre-op prep work was easy. Everything was done within 6 weeks. The staff was friendly. There were times I called but didn't leave a message and they would call me back as soon as they opened. They gave me any necessary copies when asked for, they were great. Once in the hospital for the surgery he came and reassured me that everything will be fine. I was able to have the cyst removed laparoscopically. I went one week post op, to get sutures removed, and pathology reports were back, no cancer. Overall my experience with this doctor and his staff were very pleasant and positive. They each communicated well and answered all my questions. Very professional and well mannered. read more

If I could give this doctor 0 stars, I would. The most inconsiderate, horrific, rudest doctor I ever had. My OB couldn't make it and this doctor was on call in the hospital when I went into labor. I this was years ago, but I could not get myself to write a review because of all the trauma I had with this doctor. I was seen by Dr. Jose Tibayan Aranez. He was on call that day and was the only Obgyn on staff to deliver my baby. My water had broke and we came in the morning. As we were settleting into our room, he came in asking us questions about ourselves and the baby. He asked us what type of insurance we had and we told them at the time it was Medi-Cal. He came in and out of the room talking about how he was about to go on vacation some where nice. Then, looking at my stomach he asked us why we weren't having a c section. I told him that I wanted to have the baby naturally. He said look at your husband. He's too tall and big and your baby is probably too big too. In the medical field, everyone knows you can't tell how big a baby is by looking at the belly. That alone cannot determine a C-section. Dr. Aranez rudely came in and out of the room checking me multiple times to see how I was dilating making rude comments. He was rude to his nursing staff when trying to put a heart monitor into my cervix, which he did aggressively and caused me pain. Then, he couldn't insert it and got angry and left. After several hours, he came in complaining how he has a scheduled c section and that I was taking too long to labor and that the mother in the other room already gave birth. The nurse check me and said that I was dilating well and that I was about 8 centimeters. Dr. Aranez came in and tried to convince us to do the C section. We told him no and that we were dialating fine. After he walked in and out of the room rudely stating that to need to have a c section. I started to getting a fever and he got even more angrier stating that if I don't get the c section the baby and I would die and that will be on us. I was already 9 cm dilated. He rudely made me cry and terrified of everything. I had to talk to several staff members and they seemed to be afraid of what to tell me. They told me I and the baby was fine and I ask them why the doctor kept saying we were going to die and they told me they didn't know what to say about that. My husband and I were afraid of mine and my baby's life and eventually gave into doing the c section after a while. I felt like my concerns were unheard and that I was forced to do the C-section out of fear. It was the most traumatizing experience I ever had giving birth. read more

Dr. Aranez is truly the best! He is the first doctor to ever actually listen to me and is the only reason I am pregnant and have been able to stay pregnant this time around. I'm 35 weeks and have felt so comfortable and safe my entire pregnancy because of him! The staff is also amazing and very caring. August 27,2020 Appointment time 2:00 With: Dr. Jose T. Aranez 2701 W. Alameda Ave. Ste 407 Burbank, Ca 91505 818-848-1420 My wife took my daughter to his office. This is documentation of the incident.  Arrived on time and were greeted with new patient paperwork. I (patients mom) filled out all paperwork and provided insurance card and photo i.d. Next, my daughter (minor) and I were taken into a patient room. Dr.Aranez came in and made the comment "M----z? That's a mexican last name, you don't even look it good job mom" then Dr.Aranez said "I would've guessed Armenian cause of your height and skin tone"  he then asked my daughter if her periods were normal and she replied "no I have an IUD so I'm not sure exactly" so he (Dr. Aranez) said "so they're normal" and wrote it down on my daughter's chart. He then handed my daughter a paper lap cover and told her to "Get naked from the waist down." and left the room. My daughter undressed from the waist down and sat on the exam table. Dr.Aranez came back into the room without knocking or asking if she was ready. He came in told my daughter to "Lay down lift your shirt, lift your bra." then Dr Aranez proceeded to press on her breasts and pinch her nipple on each breast. Never explaining to my daughter what he was doing or why. Dr. Aranez then sat at the end of the bed and told my daughter to "Scoot your butt down, come towards me."  then Dr Aranez proceeded to do a pelvic exam without any verbal explanation of what he was doing or why he was doing it. Dr Aranez dismissed everything my daughter and I were trying to explain to him regarding her symptoms and constant pain. Dr. Aranez stated "I can only treat my speciality and so I will clear your uterus and ovaries then send you to another Dr." My daughter and I tried several times to tell him what she was experiencing and he just interrupted us and dismissed what we were saying. I feel that his bedside manner and lack of concern and had racial comments to my daughter and her symptoms was very unprofessional and inconsiderate of his patient. I had to calm my daughter down from crying when we left his office. She felt violated and talked down racially to, because she's half mexican. We are currently seeking another doctor!!! read more

I was very sick and in a lot of pain with a large fibroid when I went to see him. Dr. Aranez took such good care of me. His bedside manner and kindness got me through a difficult time. He cared about how I was feeling and had compassion and also got me into surgery right away. On my first appointment he talked to me and took his time. That's hard to find with doctors. He genuinely cares about his patients. Dr. Aranez listens and shows you he will help you get better. I am healing and recovering. I am very grateful to Dr. Aranez. His staff was wonderful as well. I personally don't need or want this brand of doctoring. Aranez could make the patient feel at ease by acting competently not like an offensive 3rd-rate lounge comic. Additionally I found that he ordered big tests and procedures but no standard labs... and immediately pushed unnecessary procedures and surgery BEFORE test results came back, even though there were no symptoms or indication of cancer. All of this without transparency nor explanation. When questions were asked he became irritated, dismissive and cut short the appointment. Attempts at shoehorning and fear tactics do not inspire trust. For me inappropriate jocularity and ham-fisted conduct are suspect and have no place in this field, and certainly do not replace respectful, professional behavior and communication. read more

I had never had a dedicated OBGYN before, and I was determined to have a female doctor, but my insurance was very limited at the time. But thank goodness it was, because it led me to Dr. Aranez! I love him!!! He is kind, patient and has such a calming bedside manner. It never feels like he's rushing through your appointment, and his staff is cool and kind as well. They always do well to accommodate needs and genuinely care. In case you have any hesitation or anxiety about a male gyno, know that you will never be alone in the room during an exam. I've had a horrible experience with this doctor . This is my first pregnancy so like many women I have questions about how my baby is doing . The doctor has spent under 5 minutes with me every visit seems like he is uninterested and rushing to get out of the room . He never has my ultrasound results that I get at usc or blood work results that he has ordered . My last straw was when I went in for my 36 week appointment I was supposed to get a strep b test (swab) done . He rushed into the room with his not so friendly medical assistant and without explaining a single thing told me scoot down and proceeded to swab my vaginal area . Worst part is no communication was attempted as he shoved his fingers inside to check for cervical dilation . I told him I did not consent to the cervical check and all he said is that's the way they always do it . When getting such an intimate/ invasive check it's always nice for your doctor to communicate what he will be doing . As I told the doctor it was not okay for him to do a cervical check without my consent his medical assistant walked out . Mind you I am still naked and the dr did not even have the Courtesy to give me privacy to put my underwear back on . Doctor has no bed side manners and every time I come here I leave in tears. Too top off this horrible obgyn clinic his staff are some of the most unfriendly, unprofessional ladies I have ever meet . If you are able to change obgyn dr. I would definitely do it right away and go to a doctor who wants to answer your questions and concerns and not rush you in and out of the room . I realize I'm going to be one of the few men leaving a review, but while I'm logged in and at it... Dr. Aranez has been my wife's OBGYN for the last eight years. She has liked him from the get-go, but I only met him during the appointments when my wife was pregnant. I appreciated his direct approach. Neither my wife nor me are big on beating around the bush, and Dr. Aranez answered all my questions straight-up and thoroughly. We had initially planned on a natural birth, but long story short, ended up with the c-section my wife was working so hard to avoid. As a male, I don't think I can understand what that may mean to a woman, but I know that Dr. Aranez made a big difference for my wife. What easily could've have been "ruining" her birth (I'm putting this in quotation marks since after all, we got our healthy baby out that "ruined" birth") ended up as an uncomplicated c-section with just the right amount of hand-holding for us that made it a positive and memorable experience. Our baby was healthy, my wife was happy, and so was I. I can only recommend Dr. Aranez--we are very happy with him. read more

Dr. Aranez is, without a doubt, the worst doctor I've ever been to. He was incredibly rude and condescending. I went to see him because he was the only doctor I knew of who would do the birth control implant. He was a little off when I got it put in, but fine overall so I didn't think twice. Unfortunately, the implant didn't work well for me--I gained a ton of weight, because incredibly emotionally unstable, and had a miserable time overall. I decided to get it taken out. This was when the horrific side of Dr. Aranez came out. When I went to see him to get the implant taken out, he told me I was lying, and that none of this was caused by the birth control--he said the only symptom I should have is spotting. I tried to explain I've had bad experiences with birth control before and I knew what was happening, but he wouldn't listen. I insisted that he take the implant out, and he did--but as soon as it was out of my arm he shoved the bloody implant in my face and said "This is worth a $1,000. You should have just paid me instead of wasting it on this." He then mimed putting the still-bloody implant in his pocket before throwing it away. I have never had a doctor insist I'm lying about my symptoms before, or shove a bloody thing in my face. He was condescending and rude, and I would never recommend someone go see him. read more

He has a very stern demeanor, and even a little blunt at first because he's very focused on his job and what needs to be done, but he is actually the most caring and funny doctor I've ever had. He's definitely gone above and beyond for me as a patient over the years in times when he didn't need to. He delivered my first baby this past week. My pregnancy was wonderful but the baby was measuring a little big and he did make sure to let me know that there was likelihood of a c-section. This made me cry and really frightened me. He comforted me and told me all the things I could do to possibly prevent it, but ultimately he was going to do what we had to do for me and baby to be safe. Dr Aranez was such a fantastic OBGYN in helping deliver my first child ! I was of advanced maternal age -over 40 and developed pregnancy complications such as gestational diabetes and hypertension. I was a little apprehensive and scared since I never experienced pregnancy , let alone the thought of having to deliver the baby out of my body! This doctor did not delivery my baby....but I met with him at 28 weeks pregnant and I walked out in tears. Without asking how im feeling, what I would like my birth to be like, or anything about me for that matter, he started talking about the likelihood of a C-Section. I asked, "why is a C-Section so popular in the U.S.?" He said "Doctors don't want to be sued." and elaborated on if anything goes wrong the woman can sue the doctor. OK, he's covering his own ass, i get it... but that didn't make me feel confident that this doctor had my back. When I said I am trying to do it more naturally and avoid a C-Section or medications to the best that I can, he said "I can't force you, but if you want to bleed out or let your baby die, I can't force you to save its life." Among other things he said... "I will do a C-Section at 4 hours." I said "4-hours from what point?" He said "write your questions down and bring them next time, I have other patients to meet today." Other things he said (with more context) included "difficult women will have a difficult birth." He also did an "exam" which was basically an inattentive finger jab with no explanation of what that was for. Finally he said, "any questions?" with a half-assed smile, "i said, actually, yes..." and then he patted my leg and said "next time, next time." I know other women must of had better experiences, but I sure didn't feel "cared for" by this doctor. I would have been delivering my baby in fear of this man.... I was put at ease from the start he heard everything I needed to say was totally wonderful and on the ball with getting testing and referrals ordered. The best! I came to see Dr Aranez for a pap smear (never fun) and while I was there I decided to have my IUD removed. I figured he was already down there might as well. He was so patient and helpful with the process and made me feel comfortable. I was in no pain. He is so down to earth too, I feel like I can ask him anything. I should have wrote this review a long time ago (especially since Jose Aranez delivered my daughter, who is now almost 3). I moved to NC from California and have had such difficulty finding another OBGYN like Aranez. I didn't know how lucky I was to have such a great doctor until I moved! He was so attentive and when I would express that I was feeling exhausted and tired during my pregnancy, he would call on his off hours just to check-in and make sure I was OK. When my blood pressure started to elevate at the end of my pregnancy, he even sent me home with his own BP machine so I could take it at home, while also giving me his personal cell phone number to call with the results! This doctor truly cares about his patients and if I had the means, I would fly him to NC to deliver my second child! I believe he almost camped out in my delivery room just to make sure I was ok since I developed preeclampsia at the end. Couldn't have asked for a better doctor and experience for my first child!
