Excellent business, wonderful people. My glasses broke and on a recommendation from a friend, I stopped in. Even though I did not buy the glasses there, they fixed them for free and, since I had just had surgery and it was hard to keep my glasses on, they gave me a nose guard to help. I've been going to Joseph and Thomas for my glasses since I first started wearing them in the 6th grade. That means I've been a patron for about 20 years. We have a lot of history. It's not a huge shop, but they have a great selection of frames. Classic? Trendy? They have them all. They're really good about letting you try on every pair of frames in the place. 10 times each. And being that I'm one of the least decisive people in the world, they're good at giving opinions on how the frames look with your face, and don't mind when you have it narrowed down to 2 choices, and just keep standing there going back and forth trying to make up your mind. Now, being a customer for as long as I have, and because one of the owners lives in the town where I grew up, and has a son who used to play basketball with my brother, I've gotten to know Tom. He's a great guy (Joseph and Kristina are nice, too, I just know Tom better). There have been a couple times where I had it narrowed down to 2 pairs of frames and couldn't decide. Because of all that history, or maybe it's just how they operate, he let me take both pairs of frames home with me to get the opinion of family and friends before purchasing. That's one of my favorite things about this place. Saved me from making the wrong decision a couple of times. Something happen that your glasses got all out of whack? Walk on in, and they'll adjust them for you. The personal attention and friendly attitude of all who work here really makes this place a gem. I've been wearing contacts for years, so I don't get new glasses as often as I would if I wore them daily. I've also moved out of the Milford area. But when it's time for me to get new glasses, I always go back to Joseph and Thomas. read more

I get all my glasses here. Although I grew up down the street from Tom and his family, this place is great. Awesome service. They make sure everything fits perfectly, very helpful staff and great prices. Anyone who wears glasses know how expensive they can be; and here I always find great deals on name brand glasses like guess, juicy, Kate spade and more... Was told they contract with Mass Health. Perfect! Conveniently located to me and saw 5 star rating. I had a new Rx and was ready to schedule a visit. I was not able to make that appointment: they require the exam to be there in order to fill Rx. Unfortunate for Mass Health members. Had my exam with a Mass Health provider who did not dispense frames and lenses. read more

Joseph & Thomas - opticians extraordinaire! My Mom, now deceased, was a customer for many years and I, in turn, followed her lead and have never been disappointed. This shop is the epitome of the type of experience one would want and need when choosing a new pair of glasses. In addition to the expertise of the staff, their efforts to make your visit comfortable while assisting you in your quest to find "the right frames", all of this and more is why this shop never falls short of excellent. The shop itself has an incredible inventory despite its small dimensions and they carry frames that span from traditional to trendy and you can find many designer frames too! Also, their selection of sunglasses is outstanding and that's usually where I gravitate when I walk in and have purchased many over the years. I think it's important to mention that I had a recent experience there that further solidified my belief that this home town shop far exceeds the big chain retailers. I went in about 1/2 hour before closing to see if it was possible to get new stems for my elderly aunt's glasses. They took a look and immediately went to their work area to see if it was possible. I expected that it wouldn't be and if it was, I would have to leave them and come back and also was certain that I'd be paying the price for the dog's mistake of breaking said stems. In approximately 5 minutes he returned with the glasses and the newly attached stems and after I admired them and plucked my wallet from my purse, he stopped me and said that the pleasure of providing the stems was on him! So, tell me, where can you get this type of service and the answer to that is certainly not at any of the big chain retailers and........this example of their service is why I'm sure that you should give Joseph and Thomas Opticians a shot - you will be thrilled that you did! read more

These guys are as good as it gets! First went there in 2004 on a referral, when my then one-year old (with special needs) needed glasses. Have been going there ever since then for her and my husband's glasses. Just a month ago (April 2013), my husband and daughter both got new prescription lenses put into their existing frames. We have been back 3 times since for my daughter's glasses( they were stepped on , screw fell out, then earpiece broke) -- each time they repaired them quickly and refused any payment! This trip they also took my daughter's old prescription lenses, ground them and put them into a different set of old frames -(so we would have a back-up pair for emergencies) --again for free. Tom and Joe are the ultimate professionals, craftsmen and gentlemen. They stand behind their products and workmanship and are such a pleasure to deal with. read more
