A family run business. They have a wide selection of eyeglass frames, stylish and classic. Jamie worked with me to find the right frames to fit my face. she was very patient and knowledgeable. When picking up my glasses, I believe it was Nick who took time to make sure the frames fit my face. I have a high nose bridge so the frames usually don't sit as they should. He took the time to adjust the frames so they fit correctly. No one at other places has ever done that for me. I just thought I had to deal with the not so good fit. They have a great variety of glass many styles and upscale designers. They are patient,helpful ,knowledgeable. When I took my elderly mother for glasses when I picked them up they fitted them from the car so I didnt have to use our wheelchair. What a shame, my wife and I have gone to Bello for several years. Always spending several hundred dollars. Two years ago our prescriptions were given to us incorrectly, last year they gave us incorrect information consequently invalidating this years insurance. Tried calling Heidi and she hung up on my wife! There is always so much screaming between Father, daughter and son it's just a side show. Had glasses mailed to me from another optician in 2020 right when COVID started, so they were never adjusted. Fast forward 3 years later to 04/21/23, & I stopped in to Bello to have them adjusted, as I was leaving in 3 days for a trip to Europe. When the girl heated them up, she caused crazing on the lenses, which COMPLETELY destroyed the anti-reflective coating! Both the girl & Nick denied wrong-doing & actually had the nerve to try to tell me that the distortion was from "3 years of wear and tear!" SERIOUSLY?!! They refused to do anything, & I was left with useless glasses right before my trip!! I've told everyone that I can what HORRIBLE service and a total screw job I got from them!! Hands down the W-O-R-S-T optician I've ever been to in my LIFE, and the most DISHONEST, ARROGANT, & OBNOXIOUS people you'll ever come across!! COMPLETE BUFFOONS--DO NOT GO THERE!! read more

I have been wearing glasses since I was a kid, and got my first prescription 18 years ago. It was actually at Bello's, by Dr.G, who I got my most recent exam done by as well. I had stopped going to Bello's in for a few years (trouble with insurance) and I always wanted to go back because that's what I always knew. During COVID lockdown I needed new glasses and contacts so bad and my prescription was overdue so I said hey, let's go back to Bello's. It was the best decision I've made. My glasses I purchased there were hand picked for me by Nick and his son, and they were right on because now I get so many compliments on them. They always make sure to tell me if they have my contact script in stock so I can go get more when I need them. I recommend Bello's to everyone I know needing the same services I need (glasses exam, contact exam, new frames, frame fitting). I'm so happy I decided to go back again, and this time I'll never leave! read more

Terrible experience here. Total bait and switch. They supposedly take my insurance for eyeglasses. When I got there, they verified my insurance coverage, and that they are on my plan. They checked to see that my insurance was current. It is, and they even called EyeMed (my eye care insurer) to verify my coverage. I have no co-pay and no out-of-pocket costs under my policy. Once they found this out, they much they refused to sell me glasses, because they said they would not be reimbursed enough by the insurance company and without a co-pay they would not make enough money. They are on my plan and in my network, but they refused to treat me because they didn't like how much they would be reimbursed. That is consumer fraud. Also - the owner refused repeated requests to wear a mask, and Worcester is in the middle of a big resurgence of COVID. If he won't even wear a mask, I am sure he isn't bothering to clean any of the glasses that everyone is trying on. Yuck!! read more

What can I say...? I never do reviews because often places I go never stand out. They are run of mill. Or worse they are terrible. But, this place breaks the mold. I absolutely love Bello Opticians. Everyone there is amazing. I travel from Springfield, Ma to Worcester just to buy my glasses, and now contacts, from Bello. From the first time I set foot in Bello I felt right at home. Nick and Tony are artisans with how they get your pick to fit your face just right. Jaime and Heidi make you feel welcomed and cared for the moment you walk through the door. You never wait to have someone say hello and greet your entrance. Their patience and helpfulness is outstanding. If you want someone to lie to you and make you feel right about the wrong choice DO NOT GO TO BELLO! Come to Bello if you want honestly, integrity and care. They really care and made me feel like I'm a part of what they do. You can see how much love they put into their work. After my first pair late in 2023 I told them I'd be back for another and to get my partner glasses. Guess what? January hit and I couldn't wait to get back in. Now I have two pairs of amazing glasses with lenses that make me feel EVERYTHING is in HD! Zeiss lenses are amazing. The contacts I got are the best I've worn and they let me try a couple to find the right fit. Not many places offer you such opportunities. Some of the rudest and unprofessional people I've interacted there. I went there a few years ago and recently tried getting my prescription. At no point was I anything but courteous to them. Despite that, they refused to give it to me, telling me to ask my next optometrist to call them instead. They talked over me without letting me finish sentences. At one point, they just kept repeating "What do you do?" over and over without letting me say anything else until abruptly hanging up on me. Unfortunately, this rudeness is much the same that I hear from other local family members that have been there. read more

One of the most condescending, insulting experiences I've ever had. Stem of my glasses came off. Was passing by so I brought in the screw along with the stem and said I'd happily pay for them to reattach it. What I thought was starting out as amicable conversation turned to into one that made me wish I had never stopped in. I would have given additional business however the owner fished to find out who I was, spent what felt like 20 minutes claiming to adjust my glasses but instead continued to touch my face inappropriately - I've worn glasses for 30 years and can tell you no eyeglass practice has ever done that before. And upon recognizing my last name, clearly has some generational issues with distant, older relatives ... seemed to take them out on me. Asked me questions only to talk over me to try to prove strange and unnecessary points. Asked about my ethinic background, he's both young enough and old enough to know better. Then charged me $20... when all I asked was to to have the stem reattached. Most do it for free but considering I did not buy my glasses there I was fine to pay - but $20? C'mon. Even the man at the front desk looked surprised. It was only worth it to me to get the hell out of there. I'm sure he felt like he got away with something. So I hope he sees this review. I had actually wanted to try some frames and thought I'd stop back in with my prescription. But now I'm glad I didn't waste more time or more money. read more

Everyone is very friendly at Bello's. I love going there for my glasses. They have a large selection and are very helpful when it comes to making a suitable selection. I can tell you this - you will never have a pair of glasses fit more perfectly from anywhere else. I've purchased many pairs from Bello's over the years and I will be a customer for life. The owner gives each client special care at pick up time. He tweaks each and every pair to ensure a comfortable fit. They will never slide down your nose or stick out from behind your ears. (Be sure to give him feedback during the fitting process for a precise fit!) The doctor is always very professional and attentive with new concerns you voice. He explains what happens and how to prevent certain ailments. He's such a sweet man. My optometrist that I had for years left practice with Covid so I had to go searching for a new one as my contact prescription had expired for renewal so a friend told me she goes to Bellos. Wednesday I went in had my eye exam with Dr Giovannucci. We talked about the contact brand that I had used for years and how they were working great for me & all I needed was a new prescription. He agreed and walked me out to the front to check out after doing my exam. I asked for my prescriptions glasses & contacts and was told by the receptionist that they don't give prescriptions out until I try on my sample contacts and make sure they fit well. I got sent out and was told someone would call me when the samples come in. 3 days post exam now I called them to find out what prescription they had ended up with for my eye exam and they were very hesitant to tell me, she kept telling me I needed to try out the samples first but being a contact wearer for years I kept insisting just to compare it to my previous prescription I've had for years with no issues. The numbers she was reading to me were less and stated the sample was in so I stated ok I will be in to try them on today after work. I walk in thinking Dr Giovannucci was going to look at the contacts in my eyes and see how they look etc but no instead I was handed contacts and told to go home & try them for a few days and tell them how they work. I looked at the samples & noticed they were a completely different brand & the script was less than what I had been wearing. I was told I needed to go home and try them. I have astigmatism, I wear contacts all day and I stated there was no way my prescription was going backwards, maybe stay the same or get worst and on top of it this was some completely different brand I've never tried before. I explained that I had been fitted for several different contact brands by my previous doctor and she had looked at their fitting on my eye under the microscope and saw they weren't fitting properly on my eye. I explained I had this talk with Dr Giovannucci and he agreed that we would order my same brand and not make any changes. The receptionist just kept telling me I was crazy that I had no idea of what I was talking about that my eyes got better & I needed to try the samples on at home. I'm sorry that got me fired!! So I stated I just need my prescriptions for my glasses & contacts please and again she kept saying no. Then another receptionist jumped in telling me "no eye doctor is ever going to just give you a prescription just like that" telling me that I have to try the sample first at home before they decide if that's the right prescription for me. Are we going by science or experiment!?? How do you send a customer home with contacts and wait for them to tell you that the contacts worked great before you even look at the fitting on their eyes. I'm not new to contacts but let's say I was and I don't know any better & don't notice or realize that when I blink the contacts aren't fitting properly and are moving on my eyes but I tell them yea I think they fit great. Are they then just going to give me a prescription without properly examining them on my eyes. Or amI just going to be given samples and keep coming back until one fits well to get my prescription. This is ludicrous!!!! They kept asking me what I do for a living which had nothing to do with anything. When I told them I was a nurse they kept telling me I was giving them a hard time. Practice by science isn't the reason why I came in for an exam for you to see where I'm at via the SNELLEN chart & other eye measurements not by how I feel. The receptionist wrote me both my contact & eyeglass prescription on one script pad and threw it at me and told me to do what I want & leave. I asked if I could please speak with Dr Giovannucci one to one about my prescription being less & my contact brand change and they said "yea sure, he will call you". Very unprofessional!! If I had seen this happen prior to paying for my exams I would have ran out the door right away and never had my eye exam here. read more

I was referred to Bello's by one of my other providers. I decided to make my appointment in person since I was in the area. The staff are all over the place and not pleasant.I couldn't tell if they were customers or employees. I had to speak with 3 different ladies just to confirm they do in fact take my insurance. Then to find out they are no longer taking new patients. Don't get me wrong I am a animal lover but in the process of all of that running around I had to walk over 3 dogs. read more

Recently I was researching opticians/optical stores as I was looking for really upscale and cool glasses, I found Bello Opticians and went to take a look. When I walked in I was amazed with what I saw and instantly knew I was in the right place for the coolest glasses around. Nick is the owner and this guy not only knows everything optical, he also hand picks every frame in the place, many which he buys on his regular trips to Italy and France, but still sells them at a fair price. This place is awesome! I love the decor, the people are warm and friendly and they make you feel at home. The glasses are stylish, edgy and still have the comfortable ones for the "need to be secure" people. If you can't decide...ask Joe...he'll pick out the perfect glasses for you! My son Matt who lives in Boston comes back here for his glasses cause he likes the styles and the prices better than what he's seen in Boston...go figure! I am a little more than aggravated with these people right now. they are nice enough and helpful when you are ordering but I placed and paid for an order for two pairs of glasses the week before the 4th of July. Was told that I would be contacted in "a few weeks" when they came in. I have tried to contact them via phone x2. The first time I was placed on hold until the line was dropped. The second time the same thing. That's if you are lucky enough to get an answer. I had been calling for 3 hours and all I could get was an answering machine telling me that the voicemail was full. These people treat u like a low life if u have mass health. They also lie and tell you, you can not have bifocal lens and the make get two separate pairs of glasses. Making more money on the state. This is not true if your dr says you need bifocal to see they must produce the accurate prescription your dr have to you. I LOVE Bello Opticians! It can be very busy and you may have to wait but it is worth it. Nick is an eyewear guru. He literally will pick out 5 frames and you will end up purchasing at LEAST one of them. Heidi (who happens to be Nick's daughter) is fabulous, she remembers everything and makes the purchasing process a breeze. She can pick out a mean frame as well. I go to Bello mostly for convenience since it's less than a mile from my job. The customer service it good overall. Nick will go out of his way to make sure you are satisfied. He is well versed in the world of optomology so be ready to hear some technical verbiage about glasses. But you know what? If you wear glasses you should be up to speed anyway. Not knowing what you need for glasses and how to communicate that is really a disservice to yourself. If you know what your favorite frame style is called, know your bridge size (which is marked on the frame btw), what your pd is it takes a ton of guesswork out of picking frames and makes the whole process easier. Anyway I digress, Nick helped me pick out a set of new frames similar to my old ones. When they came in with lenses he told me they didn't fit right after seeing me with them fitted. I wasnt sure myself so he let me wear them for a few days. I brought them back and we zeroed in on something better. They were more expensive but he absorbed the difference since my first pair were a flop. Even more so, he promised I would have them before a big trip I had the panned. Since the lenses were not made in house I knew he had to pull some strings to get them to me, for which I am grateful for. read more

I had been given the run around at another chain and had had enough. I went to Bello Opticians and asked for Nick. I was told he really knew his business. He sure has a great business. I was wearing a new pair of sunglasses that I just bought and thought they were fine until Nick said they did not fit me right. He worked on them, handed them to me and I could not believe how well they fit and how much better I could see. I was able to buy a new pair of glasses, (better quality and selection of frames) he made his recommendations and I bought the frames, lenses and options he suggested. I called for an appointment on May 16th. The person who picked up called me "bro," put me on hold, and then hung up on me. I called back, he made a sorry excuse for hanging up on a customer, and I went ahead and scheduled an appointment for May 24th. The day before the appointment, I got a call saying I would have to reschedule because the eye doc would be out that day. After that last minute notice, the earliest they could reschedule me was to 5/31, which I thought was pretty inconvenient. I went in and had to wait for about 20 minutes because the eye doc was running late. When filling in some basic info on my prescription card with the receptionist, she mentioned that the woman before me was a little crazy so she was sorry for the late. I'm not so sure that customer would enjoy hearing that the place she was giving her business to thinks she is crazy. I went in for my appointment and the eye doc was ok for the most part. What bothered me was that he poked my eye with one of the machines so I told him to be careful, but of course he proceeded to poke my eye again with the machine with the blue light that tested me for glaucoma. I ordered my contacts. Two days after the appointment, 6/2, I received a call telling me to come pick my trials up. I was traveling that weekend so I came in on Monday 6/6 to pick up my trials. They were bi-weekly, so I gave Bello a call on 6/23 asking if my contacts had come in yet. The receptionist told me she couldn't find my card and would give me a call back later that day. I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK. I called on 6/27 asking why I never received a call back and why my contacts had not come in yet. The guy who adjusts the glasses got on the phone and told me I was supposed to call in and tell them the trials were good before Bello ordered a year's supply for me. He spoke to me slowly and clearly, but treated me in a patronizing manner. I told him I was never informed to call in to tell them the trials were ok, so he bounced it back on the customer and told me that he tells "all of his customers this." He did not tell me this, nor did Bello give me any sort of follow-up call to make sure the trials fit and to remind me that they needed to know this before ordering the year's supply. This was insane. I do not know how a business can possibly function like this and not take ownership of a bad situation and make it right for the customer. It's like I'm dealing with a bunch of teenagers running a business. I give Bello Opticians one star because they treat their customers poorly, talking behind their backs and telling them false information to resolve problems by redirecting any sort of blame on the customer. The optician does not know how to operate his machines and you risk being poked in the eye during the exam. They are rude to their customers, unreliable in their customer service, and only got my business because my insurance brought me there. ONE STAR. read more

So... I went into my scheduled appointment. Once I got there, the office was a flurry of movement and panic. Although, it wasn't panic upon closer inspection, it was just the vibe of the office. The front desk (2 women, this was not the case for the man) were both on cell phones and speaking LOUDLY. One of them yelled my name from the desk (I was probably 20 ft away in a full waiting room). I went to the desk, they wanted my insurance. I am dually insured, so I gave them both cards. When I returned to pick up my cards, they'd only called one of them. I asked them for a second time to call both for benefits. Begrudgingly, they took both cards back to make the call. Again I waited. The time for my appointment came and went. After getting both my cards back and getting the thumbs up that both insurances were called for benefits, the woman at the front desk began whispering to me about another client! She said this particular guy was "creepy" and "stalked" her. She was laughing about this guy--first of all, I've never been in the office, and secondly, that is so NOT PROFESSIONAL! When she did this, after the yelling, the waiting, the displays and bathroom (below), I made up my mind to leave. Also by this time, I had been there waiting for 30 minutes on my appointment. So I walked out. Totally as an aside but something that is very important to me, I visited the restroom while I was waiting, and there was no hand soap. Which... if people are going to be touching my face, my eyes, I really want to feel secure that their hands are clean. Like, real clean. Gross. Also, the displays were cluttered and difficult to maneuver around. Trying on glasses was at best a hassle. Also the styles they had were very out of date and not exciting. I will never recommend this place to anyone, and I would very much encourage the owner of this office to train the workers in professionalism--it isn't "hip" or "cool" --and I think that was the error. I think in this place, they are mistaking being "hip" with not caring. Not the same. Go to Boston, or go visit anyplace on the West Coast if you want to learn how to balance cool with professionalism. THAT is a winning combo. read more

A friend of mine and I went in to Bello a few days ago and I was not impressed. The older guy kept giving us glasses to put on and kept saying they looked great.. in all reality they had the same - black thick plastic frame. The man did not check to see if they fit my friends face properly or that what the man was selecting was not really what my friend was looking for. Not a large selection at all for male or female styles. Its $75 for a eye exam with out insurance- ok for the price. But they are good a fixing broken glasses. read more

I have been going to Nick's for 20 years, my wife even longer. I wouldn't let anyone else handle my vision needs. The place is chaotic and noisy and you have to wait. You could get annoyed and go to Lenscrafters at the mall where you are nothing but a number and get generic, adequate service in quiet beige surroundings. Or you can come to Bello Opticians, a real family business (they had a 3 year old niece / granddaughter hanging out when we were there last night) that acts like a big family, everyone talking over everyone else, AND INCLUDING THE CUSTOMERS in their interactions. If you relax and go with it, you'll fall in love. They call everyone "honey" and take the time to talk with each customer to make sure they get what they need. With so many customers, you have to wait. When your turn comes, you'll get that same great attention. So you spend an extra 45 minutes in a very entertaining environment. The wait is worth it, your glasses will make you look as good as you can and every time you walk in, they'll take them off, clean them and adjust to make sure they continue to look great on you. Remember, glasses are the one accessory that everyone sees all the time, right up there on your face. It's important to have them look good. Nick is an artist and has raised his kids to be artists. Artists are a little flakey, but it's that special vision they put into their work that gives you perfect vision. I don't pick out frames any more, I leave it to Nick and Heidi, and I look great because of it. I wish all the service providers I dealt with delivered such quality with such panache. They're all great people at Bello's. Plus, they deal with the insurance and always make sure we're paying as little as possible out of pocket. The complainers I am reading here clearly can't go with the flow, and probably encounter jerks everywhere they go. The staff are very friendly and informative. I lost my prescription and the guy called doctors office and got a copy of my prescription which is great gesture when I was giving up. They were patient to explain which frames suit me while considering my needs. The wide range of frames are overwhelming but the staff helps us out to choose one that suits is and we are comfortable with. They've great brands too and some really cool frames. They were good enough to explain my insurance and give me the exact amount it would cost me before placing the order (not sure if it's quite common though). If I buy another frame again, this is definitely the place to be. Kudos guys! Keep doing what you are doing. read more
