I had a major surgery last January of 2025. Dr. Chen and the entire KP team were fantastic. From start to finish, I was treated with respect, seen as an individual and was treated with kindness and patience. Dr. Chen took the time to explain the procedure in detail and answer all of my questions. His Richmond team also did a great job of preparing me for what to expect on the day of surgery and my post op instructions. I did have some additional pain afterwards, that was treated and followed up on directly by Dr. Chen. I highly recommend him, his team and all of KP. Thank you for providing exceptional care.

Something that we struggled with for a while due to age was infertility. We had actually seen several fertility specialists during this long journey, and have gone through 3 rounds of IVF (2 mini's and 1 conventional) as well as an IUI. Although they were all unfortunately unsuccessful, we discovered that not all fertility clinics and doctors are created equal. While we found that many doctors take a very traditional, rigid and cookie cutter approach to treatment. Focusing more on luck through repeated attempts, Dr. Aimee was much more focused and tailored in her regiment. We always felt informed during this process, and confident in Dr. Aimee's recommendations. And unlike other clinics, we were always able to get ahold of Dr. Aimee directly. Instead of communicating with a nurse who would then pass the message along to the doctor if they felt it needed escalation. Along these lines, we were always shocked at how quickly we were usually able to get a response from Dr. Aimee. Sometimes even late at night. We often joked that Dr. Aimee probably doesn't sleep. Our only complaints about going with Dr. Aimee revolved around a few issues: 1) The initial application process to get a consultation with Dr. Aimee was lengthy, difficult, and required a lot of chasing from my wife due to poor follow-up and communication from the office. The individual handling review and processing of new patient applications would often go awol for days on end after sending out limited communication. 2) Billing was oftentimes not very clear and created a need for us to meticulously examine our bills line by line to ensure accuracy. 3) Dr. Aimee does not accept any insurance so 100% of the costs will be out of pocket. In addition, her rates are substantially higher than other clinics. Although we were ultimately unsuccessful with IVF, we were eventually blessed with a miracle baby through natural birth. Despite this, we would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Aimee to anyone looking for fertility care.

I first heard of Dr Aimee through her Egg Whisperer podcast, which I have to say was a great way to learn about all things infertility and fertility. Then when the pandemic hit, we weren't sure if things would progress in our journey to having kids, but she always made options possible. She doesn't make me you feel crazy doing the same thing over and over again, but suggests new things to try, and is always a calming presence when there's a stressful detour in the journey. We have two little ones now thanks to Dr Aimee. She wasn't the only IVF doctor/lab we've been to, yet she's the only fertility doctor I strongly recommend over and over again without hesitation.

We discovered Spring Fertility online and ultimately decided to move forward with Dr. Okeigwe as our provider. After reading the many positive reviews--and now having experienced their care firsthand--we have nothing but great things to say about the entire team. The journey was not easy, and we certainly faced our share of trials and tribulations. Although I often worried about whether it would work, Dr. Okeigwe consistently reassured me and expressed complete confidence that we would be able to achieve a successful pregnancy. I went through three rounds of IVF, and with each round she adjusted the approach, resulting in better outcomes every time. We ultimately needed two transfers, but they led to our baby boy, who is now seven weeks old. The team's confidence truly helped ease the anxiety I felt throughout the process. In addition to Dr. Okeigwe, my nurse, Megan--who worked closely with me from start to finish--was incredibly patient and supportive. I reached out to her on weeknights and weekends, and she always responded promptly and appropriately. She never made me feel uncomfortable or uninformed, no matter how big or small my questions were. The front desk staff was consistently kind, and the medical assistants who handled my blood draws were wonderful as well. I would wholeheartedly recommend Spring Fertility to any family member or friend because of the exceptional experience I had. Thank you for helping bring our miracle baby into the world!

It's been a few years now since I was a patient at Spring, and I want to share my terrible…read moreexperience at this clinic in hopes that it will be helpful to other people in my situation who are seeking compassionate and competent treatment. My spouse and I sought out Spring specifically because they like to position their clinics as experts in LGBTQ+ family planning, and claim to have expertise treating transgender and nonbinary people. My spouse is a nonbinary person on hormone replacement therapy, and it was extremely important to us to find a clinic and a doctor with some experience treating trans people. We were referred to Dr. Dovey as the clinic's "LGBTQ expert," and I went into my first consult with her having high hopes for a good experience. During that consult, Dr. Dovey misgendered my spouse every single time she referred to them. To give her credit where credit is due, she would correct herself, and then misgender them again two sentences later, correct herself, and so on and so forth. At the point at which someone misgenders you ten times in a row, you really start to wonder if they are even trying to get it right, especially when the person in question is supposed to be the organization's "LGBTQ expert." Dr. Dovey also proposed a lot of unnecessary measures with regards to my spouse, like stopping their hormone treatments to collect even more genetic materials from them (when they had already cryopreserved more than the recommended amount of reproductive materials prior to the beginning of their transition). Ultimately, it felt like Dr. Dovey didn't actually care about trans people, understanding trans experiences in medical settings, or my spouse's individual experience at the clinic. My spouse had a range of experiences with other staff at the clinic, from being gendered correctly to other people misgendering them. Not a particularly great sign from a place that is supposed to be "good" about trans issues! Even so, we might have tried to stick with Spring, but they also messed up pretty badly in another area. Like many people who wind up in fertility clinics, I have some chronic health conditions. Most of them are not genetic and are not genetically transmissible. However, I do have one very rare genetic mutation that results in lower bone density than the average person my age. IF my spouse were to be a carrier for the same very rare genetic mutation, it MIGHT cause a child of ours to experience a similar condition. I want to be clear that in my day-to-day life, this condition does not really affect me negatively and I have no reason to think about it unless I'm discussing my medical history. While we were in the initial steps of our process at Spring, Dr. Dovey and her staff repeatedly communicated to me that they would essentially require my spouse to have a very particular genetic test done (one so specific that my spouse's PCP could not order it and would have had to refer them to a genetic specialist to do so) to ensure that any potential embryos we created would not have this condition. The clinic refused to move forward with our process until my spouse got the testing done, and it really came across as "we don't want your potential child to turn out like YOU." Which, to be honest, felt insulting, gross, policing, and completely unnecessary. It really didn't feel like the clinic's business or call whether we chose to get the genetic testing done or not, but Spring absolutely made it their call. This is what really killed any chances of our working with Spring, and we just quietly dropped out of the process. Spring comes across as a clinic that cares a lot about its numbers and success rates, and a place that doesn't have a problem throwing up roadblocks for people whose health conditions might possibly impact how good their numbers look. For chronically ill and disabled people, this kind of vibe essentially sends the message "we don't care about you and we don't really want to treat you." At least, that's the way I felt after my experience at Spring. People and organizations can change, and I hope that in the years since I attempted to be a patient there, Dr. Dovey and Spring have improved. In fact, I know people who have had positive experiences with Dr. Dovey and Spring! However, based on my personal experience of this clinic, I can't recommend her as a practitioner or the clinic as a safe space for trans people or chronically ill and disabled people. If you belong to one of those groups, do your research, interview clinics and ask about their training and experience with these patient populations, and go from there -- but don't go to Spring.

I was clear from the start that I wasn't sure if I wanted to harvest eggs and create embryos. I never had the NEED that some women have when it comes to being a mom and I didn't want to go through this process if my chances for success aren't likely. I said I would like my doctor to be very up front and tell me if it looks like it will happen or not. Dr Fischer met with us multiple times before hand and was very informative, he gave me options that others didn't but most importantly he listened to my concerns and was honest in his opinions. Although my surgeon was able to get all the cancer out we were still going to proceed with the protocol for cancer patients. Since I was still apprehensive about having kids at all, on the morning I was supposed to start injections I made my final decision to not pursue IVF. The process isn't easy and since I'm still recovering from surgery I didn't see the value in doing this for the potential for 0-1 embryo. It isn't important enough for me to do IVF and try for nothing. If I would end up with 2 or 3 embryos I would have done it but not for less. Again he was very supportive and said if I wanted to try later I can since I won't be doing chemo and in a year my fertility won't drastically change. Overall I would HIGHLY recommend this team and if I decided to try I would use them.

At first, I was so nervous about this procedure because I hate needles, and I didn't know if I would be treated like a human being. I've wanted to freeze my eggs for a while because I haven't found my life partner yet. So, I wanted to make sure that I had options for my future. Thank you to everyone at Oakland Spring Fertility for giving me such a fantastic experience. But, I especially want to thank Dr. Okeigwe for guiding me through the process of freezing my eggs. She's a GEM, and it's so rare to find a Black fertility doctor. I was and still am ECSTATIC that she was my doctor! She took such great care of me, and I was informed every step of the way of who, what, where, and why of everything I needed to know. Dr. Okeigwe even helped me heal a trigger. I had an abortion when I was 20 years old, and unfortunately, the doctor and nurses treated me like an animal and pinned me down while they did the procedure. So from there on, every time I went to an OBGYN and put my legs up, I would go into shock from that experience. I never thought that trigger was going to be healed. But, because Dr. Okeigwe listened to my story, answered all my questions, and equipped me with all of my options, the trigger began to go away. It got to the point where I would come in for a check-up, and we would laugh, and before I knew it, I was already lying down, looking up at all of my eggs progressing. This is why representation matters, and I know for a fact that I would not have received a better experience anywhere else. Give this woman a raise and hire more diverse fertility doctors!

There are alot of ways to have therapy and I would not be surprised if many people with fertility concerns already have a therapist. Similarly I work at a hospital and do not need training on how to use a needle but there is a required course on it. The biggest issue I had was no one but the doctors new the plan. So when you call in for refills they may be reading off an algorithm and have no idea what you need and do not need. I transferred care to a different fertility clinic and had a much better experience and they also had all sorts of discounts for self pay patients, would have as much done by your insurance as possible ( like having an in network person order your labs or do your ultrasounds) and since it was a larger location they were doing alot of research. Once again the doctors are great but the rest of the team and/or the algorithm they use to treat you was not.

After about four months of struggling with PPD, I made the decision to pursue permanent birth control a decision I now deeply regret. I was told by Dr. Cheruba Prabakarthat my tubes could not be tied and that they had to be removed. During the consultation, she asked if I wanted more children. At the time, while clearly struggling emotionally, I said no. She stated that since I was 39, it was a good age for this procedure if I did not want more children. I understand that the decision was 100% mine, however the state of mind I was in was not capable of making a life-changing, irreversible decision. I strongly believe that when working with women -- especially postpartum women -- it is a physician's responsibility to recognize warning signs of postpartum depression and emotional distress and to implement safeguards in their practice. What I needed at that time was help and support for my PPD, not a permanent procedure that altered my body forever. Instead, the process felt quick and not thorough. There was no screening for postpartum depression, no encouragement to wait, and no discussion about how temporary emotional states can affect long-term decisions. Now, three years later, I am 42 years old and desperately want another child. Time is running out. I am now facing IVF, with no guarantee that my insurance will cover it since this is considered a decision I made for myself. My eggs are older, the odds are lower, and the emotional and financial burden is overwhelming. I wish there had been more caution, more counseling, and more time given before moving forward. I also hope that by sharing this experience, changes can be made so that another woman in a vulnerable postpartum state is not placed in this position. I am beyond sad and angry about my situation, I wish i could of tide my tubes and maybe reversal would of been an option now there is nothing absolutely nothing i can do. and time is running out.

He never treats you like just a "patient"; he treats you like a person, listening closely and offering thoughtful, expert guidance. I have severe DOR, and Dr. Cakmak has supported my husband and me with incredible care and determination, always working toward the best possible outcome--and he has truly delivered. Our last RE left us feeling completely hopeless. We searched everywhere for help until my UCSF neurologist referred me to Dr. Cakmak. From our very first meeting, everything clicked. He draws everything out on paper, takes his time, and makes sure you understand exactly what's happening in your body. He is, without question, a true genius. What we appreciate most is his care, compassion, and commitment to our future goals. Five stars hardly feels enough for Dr. Cakmak and his team--Jill, Katherine, and Rae! They are truly the best in the business. You are in amazing hands with them!

I strongly advise seeking care elsewhere…read more You may meet your doctor at the initial consultation, but don't expect to see them again throughout your cycle. While you're told that your doctor will be "supervising," in reality you're shuttled between different providers: a nurse does your ultrasounds, another doctor reviews them, that doctor sends a note to a nurse, and finally the nurse calls you with instructions. This game of telephone is not only impersonal, it also led to miscommunication and errors in my care. And if you actually have questions for your doctor, good luck. The experience felt HIGHLY impersonal. If you have questions, you're told to ask your nurse , who often doesn't know and has to forward them to your doctor, who may or may not ever call you back. Often resulting in hours of waiting with anxiety. While this clinic may have decent success numbers, the process feels more like standing in line at the DMV than receiving supportive, personalized fertility care. With so many other options in San Francisco, I would not recommend choosing this clinic. Do not be fooled at the consultation.
