My last visit to the salon was disappointing. I asked for highlights and instead a got the whole outer layer of my hair decolonized. I had a beautiful color that I have gotten at a place where they did a careful and professional job and it was ruined here. The hair cut was also bad I asked for layers Georgi barely cut the edges. I paid $280 for an unprofessional color and hair cut. Not going back to this place. I would share pictures but I have temporarily fixed the color on my own. read more

I've been getting my hair cut and colored here since 1999. That alone speaks volumes... :) What keeps me coming back (even though it's now a pretty long drive from my home)? 1) My stylist, Kriss. She is a true professional -- incredibly skilled at her craft as well as being an intelligent and classy human. She listens to and consults with me, and in 25 years, she has never let me down! 2) The environment. Joseph-Jeffrey's has done two or three remodels/updates to the salon since I started going, and each one is more beautiful than the last. It's a pleasure to spend time there. 3) All the other salon staff. Everyone who works here is warm and friendly. I've been seeing many of the same faces since I started coming here in the 90s. Just as an update to my previous review - I want to say Faith from the salon personally reached out to me to reconcile my experience. She apologized and offered a complementary straightening treatment to me and my mom. Customer service like that goes a long way. I'm going in for my consultation next weekend and will update my review again with my experience of the service and salon if I do end up getting it done. As for now, I am bumping my review up for the professional way she handled my complaints - many places would disregard a disgruntled customer, so reaching out shows a lot about what type of salon this is and what the people who work there are like! read more

I have been satisfied with my color service in the past but after my last visit, I will not be returning. I called in to book an appointment for a full head of highlights and asked for their latest available appointment. I was told 630 pm and booked the appointment. I felt rushed and was talked into a different service than I originally came in for. The stylist decided that instead of giving me highlights (and low lights I requested) she would dye my roots and that would suffice since the dark roots were what was bothering me. In theory this would have been fine if it actually achieved the results I was looking for. Instead of the blonde I wanted, I ended up with red roots. When I told her I was unhappy with the way it looked she went into the back to get bleach to do the highlights I had originally requested. I could tell she was not pleased which in turn made me feel pretty uncomfortable. After dying my roots and then half heartedly throwing some bleach highlights on top, I now have pieces of orange in my roots and it's so concentrated that it looks like I just got my hair dyed, not highlighted. In addition to this, she told me that she did the same exact color service as last time (huh? I don't remember it looking like this...). I was charged the same amount even though I did not get a hair cut during this visit. While she was rinsing my hair she told me I could return to "add darker pieces" since she felt she had talked me out of what I originally wanted. I think she could sense that I was unhappy. I was and I am. I have no intentions of spending extra time and money at this salon to fix something that should have been done the way I had asked from the beginning. Most people ask to book an appointment in the evening because they have work or other obligations which prevent them from coming in at an earlier time. If this is not a good time for the stylists to perform this service, they shouldn't book it. Rushing and changing a service to accommodate your own schedule while your client walks out of the salon unhappy isn't the way to keep them. read more

Love this salon! Everyone is very nice and the atmosphere is calming. Ask for Jacquee if you are female and Christopher if you are male. Jacquee is an amazing colorist who actually teaches coloring classes. I have heard from my guy friends that Christopher is really good at cutting hair as well. Prices are affordable for Newtown/Yardley area, just make sure you bring cash or check because the only downside to this salon is they don't take even debit cards! read more

Ask for Christopher, who is why I am writing this review. I was with my last hair stylist/cutter for 9 years... every 2-3 weeks. Imagine trying to find another one after all that time. We didn't break up, I just ended up moving. So I have tried a barber shop (old school in Princeton shopping center - $25/haircut), La Jolie in Princeton ($45/cut), David Witchell ($65/cut) in Newtown but none were a good fit. Christopher is very personable, listens well, and does a great job at cutting somewhat coarse asian hair. And on top of it, I can go corporate during the day and go spiky/mohawk when on the town. Came in for a blow out with Sharon. Salon is nice and staff is nice even though the shampoo girl got water all over my left shoulder. Sharon was nice and we chatted throughout the whole time she was doing my hair. I told her I wanted a blow out but with loose waves (I live in NYC so my expectation was that of a blowout à la Dry Bar which is a nationwide chain that you think this local "nice" salon could equally achieve), and her being a seasoned professional and realizing my age, she would get the jist I was going for. But as I walked out to pay and got a better look at the style she gave me, I realized with the side part, the too loose of waves and the hairspray volume - I looked like a low-key 1994 pageant contestant. I know towards the end she got a little rushed because they booked her without realizing she was going to be curling my hair (at one point the curl iron was on my head or she tugged it too hard cause I def had a moment where I flinched in pain). What this experience taught me is that I'm never getting a blow out when I come to visit family in the area -- I need to get it done in NYC. read more

She goes above and beyond to make sure my hair looks better than it did when I come in and that my experience was amazing. Most hair stylists will ask the normal "How are you? What is new?" questions but Bobbi Ann actually remembers everything about me and wants to know how I really am doing. She treats you like you're a friend and not just a customer. This has been my salon for 15 years. Every visit feels like visiting family. From the minute you walk in the front, the receptionist is friendly and outgoing. There's always an offer of water, coffee or tea to drink. The decor is modern, fresh, and warm. The stylists are all wonderful and very friendly. Jeff is my stylist, but over the years Faith, Alex, and Maureen have helped me out. I'm almost sad when my appointment is over and it's time to leave, but every time I do, I get compliments for days! read more

A little more expensive than other balayage I've gotten done in the past. I like the color a lot, and up until the point of getting it cut, all was well. Every time I get my hair cut I specifically say "just the split ends" or "not more than an inch" because I love the look of long hair, which previously reached my tail bone. I said "don't cut too much off, just the split ends" and my hairdresser said "yes just a little trim off the bottom." She then proceeded to cut 4 inches of my hair off. I have prom coming up and wanted it to be long to style it, now I am probably getting extensions. Not only is my hair now at that awkward, mid-length, it is crooked! Never coming here again. I hate hair dressers who are more concerned about creating a drastic difference for their transformation photos, rather than what the paying costumer is asking for. If you are young and love your long hair, do not put it in the hands of this salon. read more

I have VERY mixed feelings about this place but I think I'm willing to give it another try. I booked an appointment this past weekend with Christopher based on the reviews here. I arrived 8 min late for my appointment because google maps this place incorrectly (and when I called to ask for directions I was put on hold for 3 minutes). It's in the shopping center next to Giant and not out by the train tracks!! As I walked in the door, Christopher was finishing someone up and said would be with me in a min so I went to use the restroom. When I came out, he wasn't around so I waited up at the front; he came in shortly and we sat down. He looked at my hair, asked what I needed (simple trim and blow out) and he said he wasn't sure if there was enough time. I looked perplexed as I didn't exactly ask for anything out of the norm so he explained that he would feel rushed as we only had 15 minutes - I then confirmed that my appt was indeed at 10:30am and he said yes but it's now 10:45. I realize I came in 8 minutes late but to my defense, I was at the google location at 10:30 and when I walked in he was still with another client! Plus, who books a women's haircut WITH a blow dry for 30 min??? I specifically confirmed that the haircut included a blow out cause I had an event that evening and the appointment lady assured me that it was included in the price. Anyway, so he says to me that he will ask someone else to do the blow out and walked me over to the washing station stating someone would wash my hair. I sat there for 5 minutes and no one did anything. Then, another lady came over to tell me that she would be taking over my haircut because Christopher couldn't do it and that she couldn't take me until 11. How unprofessional of him to not even come by and apologize himself and ask me if it would be ok for someone else to cut my hair!!? I was then moved to a side chair to wait until 11. At this point, I wanted to scream and get the hell out of this place and I'd rate it a ZERO if I could. However, I talked to my husband and he got me to calm down and give the lady a try, so I did. At 11 the other lady was still cutting someone's hair so I got up to ask her for a new estimate, she said she was finishing up and sent me to the hair washing station yet again. Someone came by and washed my hair and left me sitting there for a good 5 minutes. Finally, at about 11:15 the owner of the salon came and got me, had me sit at Maureen's station, the lady taking over my haircut, and apologized for the delays. He also told me that the haircut was on him. Maureen was very nice. She asked me what I wanted to do and did a great job cutting my hair. She also blew it out nicely and even flat ironed it for a polished look. At some point, Christopher came around with his next customer and fauxpologized (aka mumbled some I'm sorry statement) and I also learned that he had some hair splinter in his finger and was out of sorts (Maureen filled me in). SO I think I'm going to call this a wash and give them 3 stars with hope of a better experience next time. read more

Never have I been turned away from a salon until today!! I had made an appointment for a cut and color today at 11am. Unfortunately, with having an 11 month old and being pregnant, life happened and I was running late for the appointment. I called them as I was on my way to let them know as a curtesy. The receptionist said that it was no problem and she would let the stylist know. Finally, after dealing with Saturday traffic I got there 11:20. I walked in extremely apologetic and explained why I was late. When I sat in the chair, the stylist asked me what I wanted done and I explained even though it was already explained when I made the appointment. I was not expecting her to tell me there was no time because they decided to book 2 other appointments overlapping mine. I had said that was crazy because with a cut and color the salon usually blocks out 2-3 hours at minimum. Then she told me that she would have down time and she didn't want to just sit around while my color was being processed and I was also told that since Covid they cut back their hours and are trying to fit in as many people as possible which I thought that was the complete opposite of what the protocols were with the pandemic and looking out for everyone's safety. Then the stylists seemed to get snooty attitudes and blame me because I was late. I explained how this was my money that I was giving them and I had no problem spending my money elsewhere especially if they were going to treat a new client like this. The whole situation was dealt with very unprofessionally. The receptionist had a right to tell me when I called to let them know I was going to be late what the situation was instead of making me waste my time and the drive. Instead they turned a new client away as well as what could have easily been $200-300 that I was prepared to spend. Luckily, Village Cuts, had an opening for me today and also made sure to tell me that they would make sure my hair gets done today and exactly how I want it. No, I absolutely would not recommend Joseph- Jeffries as they are unprofessional and have a "we don't need you or your money" attitude. read more

I used to get my haircut by Jeff back in the early 90s when I was a kid. The crazy thing is I just went back after being out of the area for over twenty years and he remembered who I was and even remembered my parents. The service is excellent and timely. I don't ever recall having to wait longer then a few minutes. Nothing seems to have changed in that department in the last 20 years. I think the pricing is very competitive. A men's haircut is $30 which is great in my opinion. I don't get a basic buzz cut. Jeff is awesome but when I went back he was booked up so I went with Danielle. She did an excellent job and I have been back to her twice now. No complaints and lots of compliments from my students. Very happy and highly recommended!! read more

So I moved to Yardley from NYC a year ago. I am a surgeon, so I am skilled with sharp instruments :) I had a hair stylist in NYC I adored. Not a fancy schmancy place, just a local woman who was a phenomenon with everything - color, cut, highlights, keratin - you name it. Finding someone here is like searching for a needle in a barn of hay. I went to one salon and had an ok color job then the next time a cut and she went nuts with a thinning shears. Had to come home and cut it myself to fix it and lost a lot of length to correct her botch job. So I decided to try this salon as it's very close to home. I called and asked for anyone good with coarse curly hair. I didn't want a straight blow out, just the roots straight and the ends bouncy. No one seems to get what that means. It's straight. However, it does look very nice and it took 20 minutes, so anyone who can dry my hair well in 20 minutes gets kudos from me. Thank you Faith! I did have to touch up the roots in the front as they were a bit fuzzy and I took my small round metal brush to curl my ends under and make it "bouncier" but overall, looked really nice. I will go back. However, the woman who shampoos - awful. I have super dry hair and wash it once to twice at most, so when I go, I want a really good shampoo that lasts more than 2 seconds. Not to mention I hate it when you barely feel the person's fingers touching your scalp. Scrub for Pete's sake. So my next blow out I will show up with my shampoo done at home which I hate to have to do, but....I could tell when I mentioned it to Faith she had no intention of talking to the shampoo woman...will follow up with color report once I get that done and cut as well. Been doing those myself as well so far. If the cut and color matches her blow out, I can put away my own shears and box color.....fingers crossed. read more
