I, like many, avoided the dentist as much as possible in my adulthood despite being in healthcare and advising my patients on the scope and sequence to better health. Do as I say and not as I do. Well no longer. Today, I drove to Robinson Dental without once feeling nauseated, thinking of turning around, or mentally cursing out another driver from misplaced angst. It was a freaking miracle. My experience with Dr. JD began a couple years ago when he was referred to me by a colleague at the hospital that I trust implicitly. This individual has been going there for years and continued even after a move now required an hour drive. Honestly, I was terrified. I hadn't been to the dentist in years and was apprehensive, embarrassed, and skeptical. While the initial visit was unnerving only due to my own neurosis, Dr. JD was kind, gentle, funny, and was never judgey, dismissive, nor condescending and continues to be all of those things. All of the others reviews are true. He calls to check on you the night after a procedure. He explains everything in as much detail as you'd like. He is straight forward and honest. He respects your time and discomfort. But while all of these statements are true they can not convey his earnestness nor convey all of the little bits that are inclusive in his magic. I know it sounds like hyperbole. It is not. Let me repeat. I did not have one negative thought about my appointment today. What was that? I just saw a pig flying... I also have to give a shout out to Jessica for calling me when there was a cancellation getting me in two weeks early. And to Paula for making me ultra comfortable physically and mentally. And to Dr. JD's father, who always has a smile, a kind word, and started something truly great. I have had my mouth completely overhauled and am confident that it will never fall into disrepair with the help of Dr. JD and gang. HOLISTIC…read more Unbelievable! I have been all over the Internet trying to find a local dentist who has expertise in doing a ceramic implant. Most dentists use titanium in your gums and them top it with a ceramic crown. Instead, I wanted all ceramic. I didn't want any more metal in my mouth. Dr. Jung is prepared to do this for me. I'm ecstatic that we made an appointment to get my work started. In addition to being knowledgeable, Dr. Jung has a very kind and caring demeanor. I think he is Ann Arbor's best-kept secret. Eun-Young was difficult for me to understand while over the phone. That was probably my 'old' ears. In the office, she was delightful and very helpful. Eun-Young is obviously very knowledgeable regarding dentistry and an asset to the office. I'll be back to do another review after the work is completed, but for now, I am very pleased with the consultation. If you are looking for a holistic dentist consider Dr. Jung. I had never had a good experience with a dentist in my life (maybe because I have a tiny child mouth and I'm always being yelled at to "open wider"...) so, I almost never went to the same one more than a couple times. I was hesitant to start over at another place, but I am so glad I did... On walking in, you can tell everyone loves working there and that they are a family. Dr Greg and Dr Joanne (married couple practice, how nice?) are so sweet they provide their own figurative job security; plus they have gadgets for checking your teeth that I had never heard of (including this thingy you can rest your teeth on that holds my tiny child mouth open for fillings, etc.) and the whole staff is excellent at what they do. In addition to regular cleanings, I had Six-Month-Smiles (quick braces thingies) to re-straighten my teeth before my wedding, so I got to spend more time there than the average patient which allowed me more time to observe the interactions between the hygienists, assistants, techs, doctors, and other patients. I came across this one here on Yelp, and I am SO happy that I did. The dentists here referred me to Dr. Pasternak, their oral surgeon. I hate having my teeth messed with and I'm already anxious just going to the dentist for cleanings. Needless to say, I was so nervous about the procedure and possible complications, but she did an amazing job of explaining everything to me and making me feel safe. Some of my wisdom teeth were impacted, so the procedure required more work and was done under anesthesia (by my request, I wanted to be out of it). Everything went exceedingly well, I had no pain during recovery, and the incisions/holes healed with ZERO complications. Two years later I still think back on the experience and how grateful I am to Dr. Suzanne Pasternak for the skill and care she provided. I figured I should write a review since I still feel so strongly. The office staff were amazing too and were very helpful during all of my pre-procedure visits. I highly recommend this place for everything dental-related. I would make it my regular dentist's office if I didn't live so far!
