So let's just say this is my 1st dinner in Italy ever. I had lunch at the train station, but that doesn't really count. It was just OK. The food was fantastic not just kind of fantastic but really fantastic. I said that three times for a reason, it was filled with Italians to start. Coming over from Greece I have the mentality of ordering a lot of food, the friends are with were not used to that. The first thing I ordered was. Chickery greens cooked to perfection and a little spicy. I ordered 2 croquettes one that was a stuffed zucchini flower with cheese and it was so good. The other croquette was potato and cheese and it was so nice. Olive brochette salty and oh so olivey. Spaghetti carbonara was full bodied and a little heavy but tasty. The spaghetti marinara was heaven just what you think of when one thinks of Italy. Green Salad just ok, but the mushroom and ham calzone wrap was devine. Food was great. So was the service. However, we were assigned to the wrong table and since the table was occupied, had to wait for a while before another table opened up. Thenas we we were leaving, we were told the POS for MasterCard/Visa/Amex machine was not functioning. I am NOT in the habit of carrying cash but luckily I had enough to pay for the meal. Found this place while looking for nearby places to eat from our hotel. First time in Italy and didn't know where to go. This place had some really good reviews on Yelp. It was delicious! We timed our visit right as we got there before it picked up. When we were walking out, there was a long line. We ate fast as we had an appointment. I ordered the balsamic chicken breast and it was just that, a chicken breast with balsamic vinegar on it. It was good. My wife ordered the spaghetti and it was ok. The service was not horrible, just not as attentive as I thought it was going to be based on the reviews. We had to ask for another water bottle and it never came. The bread was served late, after our meal. We ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer and it didn't have balsamic on it. Just tomato's on a piece of toast. I could have ordered the wrong thing though and when I asked for balsamic, they brought it out. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere though with inside options, outside options and what appears to be a covered patio area. I was just not overwhelmed by the food and if I was in the area, would not eat here again. read more

A very nice/upscale steakhouse that also serves amazing pizzas and pasta. This is definitely a local favorite and was packed every time we passed by. If you're staying in the area, Joseph is a must. While you can get by at popping in before the busy Italian dinner time (8pm) on weekdays, you might need to make a reservation or wait a little bit on weekends. A very filling meal with an antipasto and 2 seafood pasta dishes only ran us 24 euros. read more

Walked in without reservation, which is a mistake we won't repeat. But we were seated anyway, as it was early. Not a tourist spot at all, though they do have an English menu. I had a fried squash blossom appetizer, which was ok. My seafood risotto was fabulous. My partner's pizza was great. We will be back, next time with a booking. read more

Just laying over in Roma for a couple of nights and found this place on Yelp. We started w/a margherita pizza which was heavenly. (The house red wine was good too...) Then we went to the grass fed beef steak and it simple melted in ur mouth! (The grilled veggies were just ok) but the pasta with mushrooms was divine. This was our first exlerience with food as We just landed and found our hotel. As we walked down the street we found Joseph's and decided we better eat now becase its getting late. To our surprise it stays open until midnight. We walked in looking dead, the hostess ask how many in our party, we said 2. She led us to the very back room then pointed to the rear of another room. We walked back and found a empty table. We sat and waited for a couple of minutes before our server came over and layed down a couple of large square plates, and two short glasses. I noticed that my plate was chipped. I asked the server for a new plate. We took a look at the large menu, and picked a few items, off the starter menu. scamorra bruchetta artichoke bruchetta, zuchinni risotto with prawn and pasta pomadoro. The scamorra bruchetta was so bland, it was just as if they took a piece of cheese and one slice of mushroom and baked it. It was served with 4 little slices of burnt toast. No seasoning on the bread. The artichoke bruchetta was one large piece of sliced bread with an artichoke spread. It was a little better than the other bruchetta. The zuchinni risotto was very fishy. It came with the heads still attached and lots of crack shells in this dish. Which made it very unpleasant to eat. The rice was under cooked and very dry. The pasta pomadoro was also undercooked and bland. But i ate it because i was so hungry. To get any type of service you must flag down the server. We asked to try the tirimisu, this was the highlight of the night. So delish. We finished up and had to flag down the server again to ask for the check. He simply said your table 64. Pay up front. Bottom line, we would go back but i would try the steak, this is what they are known for. Especially when you walk in the front door and see a huge humidity controlled dry aged counter. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Rome. It's a favorite with locals from the neighborhood. The pizza is made in a wood fired oven. The steaks are cut at the front meat counter. The wait staff is patient with my horrible Italian. The house wine and the pastas are good. When I'm in Rome, I eat there a couple of times a week and am never disappointed. read more

When are not to far from this place so we thought we would walk down and try it. We just got here so we didn't realize that it is more of a dressy place. When we ordered the waitress had a little bit of a attitude. We ordered the main dishes we wonderful, we also bought some mixed veggies, a mixed salad, a chocolate mousse, and a cake with Nutella for our mother who was getting over some jet lag. When we got back to the room we saw all the salad was green lettuce and tomatoes(no dressing), the mixed veggies was okay, the mousse was all over the container and looked gross but did taste okay, the cake and Nutella was just vanilla gelatin and Nutella which was gross. In summary, I gave it a generous 3 because while we were there the food was wonderful and the service was okay. I ate here many a times on while on study abroad in Rome. Affordable, delicious, real authentic Italian food with its own butcher inside the restaurant. Far better than those scam 10€ deals in the center of Rome that are just tourist traps. This is the place to go when in Rome. Fantastic local feel, friendly staff, great value. We ate here on a Saturday night and without reservations the staff made room for our party of four. From the first hello to the last goodbye this restaurant was a great experience. Don't believe other reviewers who frequent Wendy's and have low opinions of good restaurants, this was a very good place to spend a couple of hours with friends over a reasonably priced bottle of wine or two. The steaks were cook to perfection, and the advice we received from a local patron upon entering convinced all of us to go for meat. Sides were great and we cannot offer any advice on dessert as we were all too full. Three friends in Rome for a week. We've eaten all over the city but we're staying nearby to Joseph's. We had dinner here earlier this week. The restaurant was very nice with good food and good service. Their English menu and help in ordering was excellent. The beef was outstanding especially with the Gorgonzola and Walnut sauce. The veal scallopini with lemon was also great. The third person in our party ordered a pizza but asked for arugula and Parmesan on the salmon pizza. It was amazingly excellent. We rented 2 bedroom apartment via FlipKey.com very close by and therefore this was our go to place for dinner after walking few miles sightseeing every day. You can choose a fresh cut steak up front from the cooler, which is grilled to perfection. Oven wood baked pizza and open bar antipasti were great as well. I went to this restaurant based on Roxanne's review. It is indeed a nice place, very popular and busy. However, I thought the food and service were just okay. They were so busy, little attention was paid to us. My fresh salmon pasta dish was good but not spectacular. My son's pizza was yummy for sure. But the green salad was literally only just a bowl of lettuce - no other vegetables. The bread was dry. However, the prices were a good value for the food quality - better than I had eaten elsewhere in Rome as of yet. Unfortunately, I have not yet eaten a dinner in Rome that lives up to the city's reputation in the few days I have been here. But I will keep looking and let you know! read more
